Here's what I want to see in Black and White.

E4: Congratulations, you have beaten the Elite Four! You are now the Pokemon League Champion!"

Black: Srsly? I guess I'll walk into the Hall of Champions.

White: Hey, I just beat the Elite Four. Now I'm challenging you for your title.

Black: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Heh, I hated when they did this in Pokemon Yellow. You got through all the way to Lance, beat him, and just when you thought you were done, your rival pops up.

Just cruel :<

Sounds very Pokemon Colliseum-esque, though it'd be a nice change from the bog standard. Also, it's hard to be a smart ass if the character's another silent protagonist as is in every game.

Character: "..."

Professor: "I could do without your smart ass remarks, (player)!

I think he was talking about the rival, not the play character.

But hang on a second...wouldn't it be cool if you could make smart ass remarks in-game? I'd love to see a conversation mechanic in Black/White where you can choose what to say to people, and your choice affects their actions in some way. Of course, it wouldn't be active in every conversation...that would be really annoying. Anyway, a lot of RPGs have some simple form of this kind of thing, and I think it would be nice in Pokemon.

I could see that happening in conversations pertaining to the story line, as well as some other ones that are not so important which may ask for an opinion or response (Without bringing up that dictionary fill in the blank crap, that was just annoying).

Little change of topic here, how would an ability which reflects entry hazards from your side of the field to the opponent sound? I could see it as a major thorn in the side for stall teams.

I has talking about the rival, foo.

*facedesk*

Mah bad.

Reflecting entry hazards would be interesting, though Magic Coat does the same thing as well. Maybe the ability would act like Magic Coat, which could also reflect status as well.

Also, I'd like to see more Rapid Spin-type moves. Maybe a ghost type Rapid Spin.

If implimented well, I could see this working but it seems like it might be a pain. In Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, you're often given a choice of 3 or more things to say, which could range from different questions to different ways to handle a situation. The ones were you could either choose to help, ignore, or kill someone were nice but a lot of the ones involving questions ended up with the same response of "I'm sorry, I can't reveal that information to you right now" and you generally had to go through all of the questions before you got to one that they would actually answer and give you useful information.

A bit off topic, but what if you got to play as the bad guy?

In Pokemon white, you play as the good protagonist who plays through the game trying to be #1 while stopping team (insert name here), and you run into the protagonist in Black a lot.

In Pokemon black, the bad protagonists who works for the bad team and is sent to deal w/ Whites protagonist while having a similar goal of trying to be #1.

In the end of the story, you have to join w/ the opposite protagonist to achieve a common goal.

No one would buy Pokemon White if that were the case. Hell, unless White gets a massively cooler Legendary most people will buy Black already. I know I was the only guy in my group who got stuck with Pearl, just so there was trade diversity (I got SoulSilver for the same reason, but Silver's tight so its all cool).

Then everyone would just buy Black.

Good idea, but I think you should be able to choose. Like two organizations approach you and you have to choose one, regardless of game. Game just governs what version exclusives and a few other things.

EDIT: You are the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE, vonFielder.

Taking my thoughts before i think them.

I only know two people that got HeartGold, me and this one girl. I think people chose SoulSilver for the label. HeartGold had much better Pokemon. If I only know about the name, I'd choose White because that name appeals more to me than Black. If I find out what Pokemon are in each version, I might choose differently.

I really like that idea, but I don't think it's going to happen. It would take a lot of work to pump out two different storylines for the same game. Also, there would be radically different outcomes, as any attempt from the protagonist against the crime syndicate would be thwarted by your own character, and therefor the further you go in the game, the more drastic the versions would become compared to each other.

Though if that was the case, I'd probably get both games.

Hmmm...let's say Pokemon Black is about a bad guy going good and Pokemon White is about a good guy going bad. If all people knew was that you play a bad guy in Black and a good guy in White, people would be so disappointed when they realize the truth.

I wasn't saying that no one bought SS, only that none of my friends did. I'm sure they sold much more equally than D/P, but in addition to better Pokemon (seriously, HG gets Gligar and SS gets Delibird? That was a sore deal before Gliscor came about) Gold is also generally perceived as being better than Silver.

SS gets Skarmory and HG gets Mantine, so....lol

When I said the two protagonists come together in the end, I meant something like in Pokemon 2000, were team rocket decided to be good for 5 minutes to keep the world from falling apart....

But I can see what you guys mean by it not happening.....It would just be a good change of pace....The inspiration was the team rocket member in RBY who offered a spot in the organization after you get past the bridge (I can only imagine if Red let you choose "yes" or "no")....

no...not Skarmory and Mantine. They go exclusive by location. It's:
Mantine, Mantyke...Persian, Meowth (between Olivine-Cianwood)
Growlithe, Arcanine...Vulpix, Ninetales (near National Park)
Spinarak, Ariados...Ledyba, Ledian (early Bug)
Phanpy, Donphan...Teddiursa, Ursaring (mountain path)
Gligar, Gliscor...Skarmory (mountain path)
Mankey, Primeape...Delibird (Mahogany-Blackthorne)
Sableye...Mawile (route 9)
Baltoy, Claydol...Gulpin, Swalot (route 3)
Kyogre...Groudon (3rd Gen Legendary)

At least they're statistically similar. Mantine would probably be a hell of alot better WITHOUT Flying to be honest, and Skarmory has the much loved Steel typing. Mantine misses out on Phazing and Field Hazards too. But it's still better than Delibird, who only gets one level up move on top of its awful stats and terrible typing.

Not really. Skarmory and Mantine are opposites stat wise, and had no evolutionary path when GS first came around. The others are Gligar and Delibird, and finally Donphan/Ursaring both have a prevo.

I always thought it was something like:

S-G

Persian - Primeape
Skarmory - Mantine
Ninetails - Arcanine
Ledian - Ariados
Beedrill - Butterfree (or vise versa, I can't remember)
Delibird - Gligar
Donphan - Ursaring (also might be vise versa, these exclusives were swapped around between Gold and Silver when the American and Japanese games were released. Donphan was Silver in America, and apparently Gold in Japan....obviously fixed in HG/SS)

Also, keep in mind Delibird was a decent spinner back then, being immune to all forms of entry hazards (all the way till SR).....So it wasn't as bad as it is now (Hustle Ice Shard is OK, but Pokemon w/ better stats / abilities usually make better use of STAB priority). Delibird can OHKO DD Mence, too.....but sort of stops there....

Gligar itself wasn't that great, either w/o Roost or a great evo untill Generation 4....

Mantine mainly isn't great b/c it's one of the few Flying types who don't get Roost, and Blissey/Chansey outclasses it majorly.

Ursaring was in the original American Gold versions....and was put in SS to match the japanes games.....For some reason, Donphan + Ursaring swapped versions from the original games to the new ones....

There's always been a Pokemon game that's more popular than the other one and in the case of Saphire, Leaf Green, and Pearl, it seems like everyone assumes that they're the ones the girls who play Pokemon are supposed to get. BW will be the same way no matter what, so even though different stories could make it more significant, one would have been more popular anyway. I wouldn't mind playing White with those stories in mind as long as White is different from the standard get 8 badges, beat the evil team, become the champion and depending on how much you work with your rival, it would be different enough, IMO, since you never really work with your rival in the main story besides one battle in Platinum.

I got Sapphire and Leaf Green, and then i bought Diamond:P

But i can't really see how people could prefer black over white or vice versa, unless they are either a)extremely racist, which isn't the case with most people who play pokemon, or b) realize that black will probably be much longer:P

When i choose, it's usually for the cover legendary, not the color scheme, but i realize most people aren't like that.
