Guys I need your help. Me and My brother are competing in two different age catergories, and therefore will be able to use the same game card (the two events don't overlap.) However, I read this rule on the website:

Players must provide their own Nintendo DS™ system Game Card and cannot share Game Cards with another player at the event.

Does this apply cross section, or a we fine to use the same Card?

I can understand why they would do it, it would be complicated to share in the same if the players were in the same age category. But is it just Nintendo being stingy and making us buy two game cards?

Question...is it legal to use a Pokemon that has a catch date of 2011? Wouldn't that be grounds for them to think it is hacked?

First off, sorry if this has already been asked. Why are the moves Taunt,Protect,Fake-Out,and Follow me are used so much?I find it kind of odd since I've never played doubles/VGC.

Taunt: Stops anyone from abusing Protect, stat-boosting moves, health-recovering moves or Substitute. Since some Pokemon in the metagame rely on these kinds of moves, Taunt can certainly screw with those Pokemon.

Protect: Scouting and to, you know, not die. Plus, if a teammate is using a field-encompassing move (a la Explosion or Surf, for example) that you can't avoid naturally, Protect is needed if you don't want to take damage.

Fake Out: It's used primarily for your other lead to set up or to prevent an opponent's lead to set up, as well as just being fucking annoying.

Follow Me: Also used to help a teammate set up.

Two Weaviles have the same speed, and both use fake out.
Who goes first?

It's the same as any other situation in which two pokemon with the same speed attack using moves with equal priority: there is a 50% chance that one Weavile will attack first, and a 50% chance that the other Weavile will attack first.

Thanks
(I didn't know the 50 50 rule, although it makes sense)

And a couple more questions (sorry, I just have a lot D:)
1) What is more common, focus sash smeargle or choice scarf smeargle?
2) How many speed EV's does the average scarf'd ogre have?

Thanks

1) Probably Sash, but I'm not sure
2) 252

If its paired up with a suspecting Trick room team then sash. Choice Smeargles would get owned by prority moves

Helping Hand

If the pokemon uses helping hand then faints in the same turn before your other pokemon uses a move. Does the effect of helping hand still work for the other pokemon

For those that already went to a regional (and for those that didn't but might know the answer :P ), if you had a Pokémon over level 50, did you fill out the team sheet with its actual level and stats, or did you fill it out with its would-be stats at level 50? I assume its the first one, but just wanted to be sure.

Fill out the actual levels and stats.

Source: I filled out 3 team sheets >_>

Are they giving out a Nintendo DS Pokémon Decal (Sticker for you DS) this time? I got one last year in England and I have it on my DS now, but if I win a DSi I'd hope it's a DSi sticker :) Or do they only give these out at Nationals in America, as well as the European locations?

Do the re-battle codes and 100% catch rate code affect the legitimacy of your Pokémon? I need an answer from someone who know what they're saying.

I have rumors about this, so I guess Ill just ask it here....
If two people enter in the exact same team with the exact same pokemon (obviously cloned), is there something that would disallow these players from competing?

Does anyone have a good way to give someone a crash course in pokemon, specifically VGC? My dad wants something to do while we're there and it's hard to explain everything to him.

Make a team for him, have him battle people.

If you're not going to Atlanta, I'd be more than happy to help you with that.

Ok, I'm actually going to Dallas, so I have two days to help him. This is the team he'll be using:

Mewtwo/Snorlax
Giratina-0/Tyranitar

I will probably tell him to always switch 'Lax to Giratina and SD with Mewtwo, then bring in Snorlax and SD again while 'Tina uses Shadow Force. What else can I do?

*bursts into laughter* I could just imagine your dad owning a 12 year old kid....
