White being the death color is almost exclusively Chinese in nature. The Japanese wear black to funerals, their version of the grim reaper (shinigami) wear black outfits, etc etc.

And I knew it was only a matter of time before some lunatic started crying about racism lol.

Seeing as how childish some people are, it won't be too long before fan art photos of Reshiram making Zekrom pick cotton start showing up.

I doubt if it will have anything to do with life and death. [Do pokemon even really die?] Lucario died.

I never understood the concept of Cubone and his mother. Maybe they will explain it this generation??

My god, there is no Racism from what we see. Just because the names are Black and White doesn't mean it's Racist. You people need to learn that

I think they tried to cover up racism by putting the Reshiram and Zekrom on their opposite colors. Too bad it's probably not gonna work though.

There's nothing to cover up. There's no racism involved in any of this. It's like all these kids are saying this just to say something. Enough is enough. When you get to high school (and pass freshman year), you'll look back at these kinds of comments and you'll feel embarrassed for yourselves.

Also, it's the Isshu region, but I pronounce it as Issue, not a H but an U... if you have to pronounce it like that... could there be a 'big issue' going on in that region? I'm not sure about it... it's just a Japanese name... but still... it could be true?

You can pronounce "Kanto" as "Can't Do" if you wanted, but that doesn't make it right nor have any actual meaning.

It's Isshu, pronounced like "E's shoe", though in pronunciation you wouldn't put a time gap between them.

That's probably a Japanese thing but I'm so used to speaking English that the first syllable (the "E's") is so stressed out that it's uncomfortable to say. Then again...I managed to get over Milotic's strange pronunciation.

Idk if this was discussed already but Im wondering what the trio for Black and white would be.
Gen1= legendary birds
Gen2= Legendary Dogs,
Gen3=Regis
Gen4=Fairies
Gen5=???

Whats next?

The Generation 4 fairies were a big departure from those previous trios you mention. For one thing, they were all the same type. For another, they represented ideas instead of elements (although I have heard people argue that the Regis represent the Ice, Stone, and Iron Ages).

Maybe GameFreak will continue with this theme of trio members representing human ideas, rather than forces of nature. If the two title legendaries do indeed symbolize life and death, maybe the trio will reflect the three different stages of life: Youth, Adulthood, and Old Age. You know, like in the Greek myth of Oedipus, where the sphinx asks him "What walks on four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three in the evening?" Hmmm...maybe there will be a sphinx Pokemon...*ramble*

Alternatively, maybe the trio members will represent three of the five stages of death expressed in the Kubler-Ross model: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. Bargaining and Denial would be hard to make into Pokemon, so maybe the trio will go Anger, Depression, Acceptance. Heavy stuff, but it's possible.

Haha I'm sure we'll get some pretty weird fanart before the month is out.

And Pokemon never die. They're just missing in action :naughty: Halo FTW

As for Cubone, I heard that Marowak was originally supposed to evolve into Kangaskhan, and a Kangaskhan baby that lost its mother would become a Cubone. But at the last second, GF decided to scrap the Kanga baby and put its code in some random spot, making MissingNo. IDK, that's probably just a rumor.

Dude, calm down. I don't think he was implying that he thinks the names are racist. I think he was saying that Nintendo switched the cover legendaries to avoid lawsuits. We all know there is going to be some crazy idiot, somewhere, who will look at the names "Black and White" and throw a fit. Fifty bucks it's an American...

Also, from a more practical perspective, I think they switched the legendaries to make them easier to see.

The Depression Pokemon haha. I'm trying to imagine how that would look =P

Hmmm...Chimera, Hydra, and the Nemean Lion? I've always wanted to see a Pokemon with an ability to be immune to physical attacks. Another can be immune to special and the last can be immune to status. I'm not sure which one would get special-immune and status-immune between the Chimera and Hydra.

I can see these beng GF's most broken creations.

Until GF starts releasing a bunch of "hero" Pokemon--with abilities that do extra damage to legendaries and base stats of pseudos--that would crush the belief that legendaries are "cheap."

@cantab: Don't take away Lanturn's uniqueness just for a more comfortable battling experience.

You do realize every single region has had a "big issue" right? Team Rocket, Magma, Aqua, Galactic, etc... It's always a saving the world plot.

The name Isshu is probably not a play on the English word issue. Being a Japanese company they cater to Japanese audiences.

So yeah, there are going to be big issues with that region, but the name Isshu has nothing to do with that.

More mythical creatures for pokemon? good idea for me! a manticore pokemon looks nice in my head

Man...manticores are creepy to begin with. That human face...but they did create the dog version of a non-Egyptian sphinx in Glaceon.

First 3 hero* Pokemon? Rapidash>Pegasus-based, Gastrodon>Hippocampus-based, Girafarig>something horse-like...

Fear the horses, Mewtwo!

*Hero Pokes = regular Pokemon that end up...heroic and you can only get one of each per game.

What I really, really want for the game is more Archaeology/Cosmic pokemon. That is, pokemon like Baltoy, Bronzor, Relicanth, the Regis and fossil pokemon. I exclusively use those pokemon, and similar very rare (story-wise) rock pokemon like Solrock and Lunatone, along with some Steels like Beldum, Skarmory and obvious Bastiodon.

So what I'm hopefully looking for is the next two fossils to be Rock/Fire and Rock/Electric. These would go well with the Rock/Waters and Rock/Grass. I'm not too desperate for them though at the moment, as Solrock can use fire attacks for my team and Magnezone/Probobass covers electric. I'm currently training up a bunch (1 of each Archeology and rare Rock/Steel types) of these pokes as I've restarted Diamond (I bought an AR only so I could assemble a full team at the start. Seems fair as they start lower levels than the starter), while I wait till I get SoulSilver in the mail. I don't play competitively or on wifi, so I'm not sure how a pure Rock, Steel and Ground team would work out. Maybe something fun to try, I dunno. Battle Frontier is about the furtherest I'm training for.

Which begs the question. I didn't like the whole talking in the Underground thing, but I did love digging for fossils. I hope that comes back as a minigame in the next one.

For pokemon, i see solid liquid and gas pokemon. Also sight smell sound feel and taste. Oh, and pokemon die. It says so even in the pokedex that wartortle can live up to 10,000 years (which means they die at one point). Who can't explain the gravestones? Ghosts? Pokemon that have fallen? I also spectate on a dark type regi, they are all weak to fighting so dark added in would complete it. Another thing people say is that arceus is the god pokemon, but no, it isn't.

Dark Regi would be awesome. The Dark Ages it could be based on. Thing is, how would it fit in with the other Regis? The others seem kinda hardier.

Pokemon do die (the manga I believe shows this more) but because that it is aimed at children, Gamefreak would rather dodge the issue than answer it straight out. I kinda admire that. They could have taken the cowards way and said they didn't die.

They also haven't explicitly said that Ghost pokemon are dead, oddly enough.

"Enemy Seto Kaiba would like to fight!
Enemy Seto Kaiba sent out Blue Eyes White Dragon (Reshiram lv 100) with it's destructive 3000 attack power!"

for some reason when i think about those 2 legendarys i think about the song: i am...all of me. i dont know why, probably because they are unique and simple.

I suppose a Dark-typed Regi would make sense from a backstory standpoint.

(Ice Age, Stone Age, Iron Age, Dark Ages)

But else from that I don't really see the point. Plus it would be weird just adding "just another Regi" completing a legendary trio started two generations ago. (Regigigas doesn't count because he rules all the Regis of the previous generation.)

Zekram gives me a striking image of a Gargoyle (Horns, Wings, Posture and his Devilish appearance. His colour even seems like the colour of dark stone). I'm guessing he's either Dark/Dragon, Rock/Dragon or Dark/Rock.

I think it's been confirmed that both are Dragon type.
The secondary type I'm not so sure about though. I'm guessing Reshiram will be Dragon/Flying, and Zekrom will be Dragon/Dark, or Dargon/Rock

Yeah. Zekrom will be the most interesting one if it happens like that. Its a shame if Reshiram turns out to be Dragon/Flying. Nothing really unique or suprising about that.
