60/55/65 defenses are hilarious, they really are. I'm lazy atm, but someone run a damage calc to see if 0 HP/0 Def neutral nature (Naive, or something) can survive a CB Bullet Punch. This guy is going to be bashed around by priority so much it's not even funny.

From experience, Bullet Punch hits Infernape about 50%, and it resists it, so it should OHKO Zoroark easily, perhaps even with only a Life Orb boost.

100/120/100 for offensive stats aren't bad at all, but I wanted something more trollish like 102 for Speed, like what they did with Garchomp. Hell, even 101 would be funnier. Because this Zoroark dude cannot afford to lose Speed ties against the 100 Base Speed Pokemon. Like Salamence (assuming he's not banned) and Jirachi. 100/120 for attacking stats are decent, although I was hoping for 105/115, since it adds some more punch to its physical attacks, and it doesn't need SpA as much because things like Blissey will die to physical hits fairly easily.

Also, this dude better get Close Combat at the very least. He looks like a guy who'd come up to you, punch you in the face, and drift into the shadows.

The other 150-200 Pokemon yet to be released will definitely change the metagame drastically. It's very naive to just slap Zoroark into the current metagame and laugh. And suppose he gets Fire Priority?

Anyways, 100/120/100 isn't bad, I hope the gets a speed buff though, just cuz he looks fast. Actually, he looks a lot like Weavile but wolf over cat inspired.

God, that's really just sad. Maybe if there was a lot more Psychic-type priority (lolpsychicattacks), Zoroark could actually be of some use. But you kids these days and your ExtremeSpeed and your Bullet Punch. Back in my day the only priority attacks were, what? Quick Attack?

Not really 150-200, seeing as about 2/3 of them will be NFE Pokemon. So, maybe more around 50 or 60 actual new Pokemon in the non-Uber metagames. But yeah, we can't make a fair judgement about Zoroark yet, but the fact still holds that any faster priority will kill it, unless it's Shadow Sneak or Psychic-typed.

Fire-type priority would be godly on Zoroark, especially if it is Special.

The only thing I like about the assumed Base Stats are both attacking stats. It just makes me angry that Garchomp had a trollish Base 102 Speed and Zoroark, who looks much faster could be stuck with a Base 100. And we have enough Base 100 folk who would love to win a Speed tie with our shadowy friend. And we'll have even more Base 100 folk from Gen V, since every gen seems to add those. :/

Isn't Weavile a weasel?

That makes a lot more sense hahaha. My bad.

Good points. I hope Zoroark ends up like Lucario but faster or something.

@ sketch artwork two pages ago.

So far (assuming these aren't legit), these are the best and most official-looking predictions of the evos I've seen so far. SadOtter's evo looks like a Water/Fighting type, looking at his legs and his stance. I'm still going to assume fake until proven legit because, looking at Smugleaf and SadOtter's evos, they almost look too obviously like they were drawn by the same person. They even both have that little cowlick on their heads.

And uhm, that girl is showing a lot of leg. Are they trying to prove that Dawn can and will be outdone? o_0

With Zoroark's ability, it could easily mimic something that resists Bullet Punch or ExtremeSpeed(Metagross?) so, I'm not seeing Priority being a huge issue for it's survival.
I'm also for it getting a higher base speed... It's appearance definitely gives off a feel of speed.

While we're talking about speed...
Pikachu needs 100 base :(

Zoroark will be able to mimic any pokémon in your team, so priority will be a bitch to use against him.

oh look a metagross guess I'll Bullet Punch it back to hell!!1!

Weavile is actually inspired by sort sort of Japanese weasel demon trio thingy. (Pardon me if I got this wrong.) Apparently they ride on wind at about the rate of Sonic the Hedgehog on coffee, with one kncoking a person down, another cutting the person, and a third applying medication as a means of healing the wound and only leaving the target in pain with no traces of a wound. They do this before the target knows what has happened. Yeah. Japan is arguably the culture with the strangest myths in history. (You don't even want to KNOW where Zigzagoon comes from...)

Zoroark comes from the same legend as Ninetales: The Kitsune. However, whereas Ninetales is a more traditional representation of a kitsune's looks and natural features (nine full tails, white fur, clearly a fox, etc.) Zoroark is based more off the kitsune's illusion powers and occasional negative connotation. (Nobody thought this thing would be a Ninetales evo back in January, more comparisons were made to Mightyena and Lucario, just as Ninetales was not the recipient of the Illusion ability.)

I'm not ninja'd because I explained the whole matter. :)

Zoroark is mono-Dark, and takes 12.5% from Stealth Rock. Metagross has a Steel-typing, and it's other type is whatever, so it only takes 6.25% from Stealth Rock. Stealth Rock in general will really fuck over Zoroark because it's obvious that you aren't really switching into a Metagross. Well, unless you use Zoroark as a lead, but we don't have a moveset to look at so it could not be viable as a lead at all. Even if it does feign as Metagross, what is it going to do? Most leads these days don't carry priority anyways (except Fake Out), so it wouldn't make a difference.

Oh look a Metagross that took 12.5% damage from Stealth Rock. I hate these damn hackers!!1!1!!!eleven!!1

And with Toxic Spikes you can't feign as any Steel-type (no Jirachi haxxing for Zoroark, sorry), and with (Toxic)Spikes you can't feign as any flying Pokemon.

Unless its ability makes it change types when it is sent out but all damage calculations are applied as it being a Dark-type. That would actually patch up the entry hazard problem.

i am sorry but nothing is faster then sonic, his ability(speed of sound) give all his moves +8 priority and they always hit.

jokes aside, i think Floatzel is based on a weasel more then any other pokemon even though i dont know a shit about weasels(the name give some hints though).

i guess there IS a reason to why weavile is so fast after all....kicking my ass and healing me at the speed of sound....they need guts to do that.

zoroark defenses are pathetic at best, i used to think Infernape had a hard time setting up but after this i dont know anymore what to say, her ability will help though.

please have base 111 speed, for everything its sacred....

I was thinking Swinder > Pignition > Swinamite for this guy's line.

I'd like to see certain types like Grass and Poison get stronger places in the metagame. Moves like a grass-type Pursuit with a BP of 50 or a Poison move with a high chance of burning the target would be great, for example.

Exploding fire pig...

BRANCH IF TRUE STATEMENT (it's already over 9000)
IF YES:
SWITCH FUNCTION "GAME FREAK HAS OFFICIALLY WON THE INTERNET" ON.
ELSE HANDLER:
BRANCH IF ZOROARK GETS GARCHOMP-ESQUE TROLL SPEEDS
IF YES:
GAME FREAK HAS NOT TROLLED US! YAY!
ELSE HANDLER:
WHY GAMEFREAK WHY???????

...That's my two cents about the matter.

To this day, I am still confused why the move Acid doesn't have a secondary effect as burning. :/

In fairness, it has a chance of lowering defense, which makes as much sense as burning.

Chemical Spill
BP: 75
Special
Accuracy: 100
PP: 15
Secondary Effect: 50% chance of burning target

Tendril Snap
BP: 50
Physical
Accuracy: 100
PP: 20
Secondary Effect: Damage doubles if target is switching, using U-turn, or Baton Pass. Yes, Baton pass.

^This would have the lovely second effect of cracking down on the plethora of bulky waters.

Root Drill.

Think of something non-dental related to that for competitively useful grass-type move ideas.

And looks like the weird anime thing's been taken down from Bulbanews. Looks like its a fake after all.

Just looking at the screenshots on serebii, a few of these new pokemon look ridiculous. Namely the purple/black humanoid. The Emo Pokemon?

Passing by just to say all those rumors from March are being proved true till now, the only two remaining are about Isshu being based on a foreign country and Team Plasma.
