excuse me, but do elm calls advance ur egg frame number in hg?, i always do 12 calls to find out if my seed is correct, and does the starting frame of 3 apply to when ur getting a shiny, or when ur going for ivs? my egg frame is 12 i did 7 calls assuming a starting frame of five, four and then three, i hatched three eggs of no shiny, and now i have assumed that no they dont count, and am collecting and rejecting eggs, is this the right thing to do?

Elm calls do not affect the IRNG (the RNG controlling the nature/ability/gender/shininess of eggs). If you start the game and run around for hours, so long as no eggs are generated and you don't call Joey (apparently he advances both RNGs by 2, but I've not tested it myself), if you put your parents in the daycare the egg will still be on Frame 1.
 
Hey guys, what does the HGSS Inheritance checkbox mean? You know, the one in RNG Reporter -> 4th Generation Time Finder -> Egg IVs...there's a check box for HGSS Inheritance. Do I use this when I'm using Power Items to pass down IVs or am I supposed to check this box every time I RNG for Egg IVs in HGSS? (even if I'm NOT using Power Items?). I am not using any Power Items.

when you RNg foir egg Ivs you never use the power items, check that box whenever you abuse for egg IVs in HG/SS if your abusing in another game then leave it alone.
 
I'm having problems with downloading the RNG Reporter. I clicked on the link in Mingot's sig. and then I clicked on the install. NET thing (It said it was required or something like that). After I finished with that, I clicked on the download link and a window came up. The window gave me three options: Open/ Save/ Cancel. I clicked save, and the Reporter started to download. It finished quickly. Then, I saved it into my downloaads folder. I opened my dowloads folder and clicked on RNG Reporter, but for some reason it opened as a Windows Media Player File and it said there was an error. Then I closed it, and right clicked RNG Reporter and went on Open With. Does anyone know what your supposed to open it with? I thought it was default, maybe I did something by accident. Can anyone help?

After Friday, I'll be without a computer for a couple of weeks (maybe even the rest of the month) and I'll be communicating through my Wii. I want to know if there is something close to a Web based RNG Reporter.

I tried something last night. I didn't soft reset, instead, I hard reset. That's when I got the right nature. -_- When abusing the pokewalker, should I really hard reset instead of soft resetting? Would it mess up my seed if I soft reset?

Do not use an everstone when doing RNG. The effects are random and you don't need it anyhow. When you RNG you are choosing the nature and ability. The stone doesn't help you.

Edit: I have never used an everstone and never need to. The only items I would use are the ones that make certain babies possible, like incense.

I am RNGing for IV's though... I cannot use those results for nature ability and/or Shinyness...
 
If you're RNGing for IVs, you still don't need the everstone or any other stone. Get it off your pokes and rely on the seed you choose with RNG Reporter or Wichu's program. The seed itself and landing on the right delay and frame are what you need to get the right IVs, not the stone.
 
Although I probably already know the answer to these questions, I still feel I should ask them.

Is there any way to predict what type of pokemon will appear through method one? Also, is there a way to predict how when a pokemon will appear (Such as how many steps must be taken in a cave.)

If a pokemon is method one like a gift pokemon or a roamer, you should always know what it is. For your second question, it has not not been discovered yet because there is no need. Sweet Scent will guarantee a pokemon encounter.
 
I am calibrating on my Pearl, and I'm getting a range of delays from 630 to 645. Not sure how good a range that is, but at least its consistent. However, I consistently count 16 seconds on my clock between the reset and entering the game, but RNG reporter tells me that all my delays are 14 seconds.

So, two questions.
1) is 630-645 an acceptable range of delays? and if not, what is?
and 2) should I use 14 seconds or 16 to time the reset? or do I need to make them match up?
 
Ok, what are the Regice's stats? It's either the Regice you got had a split spread or instead of using RNGReporter, you're using that excel chart(not likely). Tell me its stats so I can find out for you.

EDIT: at Princess of Johto, open with Windows Explorer. I had the same problem, and this fixed it.
EDIT2: Unless it isn't unzipped yet. if it is the .exe file, then open with Windows Explorer.
 
Ok, well I tried opening it with Windows Internet Explorer, but all these blank windows started popping up and I couldn't close any of them. I had to restart my laptop :(

As for unzipping, it's already where I want it, I don't really understand what you mean.

I really don't know what's wrong. What does RNG Reporter open with for you?

If left clicking it doesn't work to start unpacking a zip file, you might want to right clicking it and change which program automatically opens it. Some versions of Windows will automatically unpack a zipped file, but if you allowed a music program to take control of these files, then you're going to need to take that control away from the music program and give it back to the right program. As for which programs to use to unzip folders, in the case that your Windows doesn't unpack things, try googling for free zip programs.

RNG Reporter cannot work if you don't get it unzipped out of the downloaded package.
 
So, I should google free ZIP programs and download them, then try and open RNG Reporter with that program? Ok, thanks ^_^ I'll try that, and hope it works.

Adding to what Riski said, you could download a free trial of WinZip here. It's used to unzip zipped folders, and I think you can even use it to compress files.
 
lol i didn't say internet explorer. there is an actual program called windows explorer.

my question: on the shiny egg tab, when you're using it for HGSS, do you call elm 10 times and then advance the number of frames it says, or is the frame it gives you excluding elm calls?
i know that on DPP, the flips and taps are after checking your seed, but is it the same for HGSS?
 
Hey, it worked! Thanks, Riski, and everyone else who helped! Now, I'm going to study RNG (with the help of Riski's guide) and if I learn how to, I might even open my own shop.
