its a fossil? did you forgot about kabuto and brothers?

Of I didn't forget, but it's still most likely going to remain its own stage for a long time. I could be wrong, but most likely instead of an evo, it may get a prevo because it's BST is just plain to high, at 515, to get an evo.

Aerodactyl won't get an evo.

1) It's BST is to high.
2) It's a fossil, dummy :P

To be fair, when we saw Porygon-Z, we were all like "It must be a Porygon evolution. It can't be Porygon2's, because it's stat total is too high".

No to mention they could do a Scyther, and not actually increase its BST when it evolves.

On the topic of BSTs, I can't wait to see the base 600s this generation. They'll most likely be the Pokemon that we'll be arguing over the tier status of for the next 5 years... :D

There are certain Pokemon that just wont get new evos.
Noctowl, the regional rodents, Swellow, Kricketune and all the fossils.
I dont think Heracross will evolve, Lucario cant because it WILL become Uber, Pinsir, I hope, will get a Bug/Steel evo and I hope more 5th Gen evo lines will be revealed.
Shimama will be the Electric Ponyta, if Gear doesn't evolve I'll die and I hope Eevee gets a Bug evo, a Flying evo and a Ghost evo.

Who the hell cares about stage 1 or stage 2? Stage 3 is all that matters. Torterra is one of my favorite pokemon, and i don't even remember what its prevos look like.

Hahaha... I knew those pre-production sketches were real. :P It doesn't pay to be TOO skeptical, especially when the art should have passed by pure virtue of being so well-done.

Seeing the Tsutarja evolution's "official" stuff (which looks fake to me), I kinda like it a little more than the grungy little sketch of it. I guess its limbs are supposed to be... duhhh... what's the word for disappearing when you don't use it? Some Biology thing.

...

For people saying that Tsutaja's evolution isn't different enough from Tsutaja.

Point made? I hope so.

Not only is Ivysaur the SECOND POKEMON IN THE POKEDEX, but he's barely different from the first.

Anyway, looks like it's limbs aren't getting longer and it's starting to get things on it's back, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up Grass/Flying.

I'm still hoping for Steel/Rock/Ground but I think we're just as likely to get Flying/Fighting/Rock which I'm okay with as long as Fire/Rock is fast and offensive as shit, though it'd be MUCH better if it had rock head and not blaze. Flare blitz and head smash out the ass!

Retractable?

I personally don't really like Tsutaja's new evo. It looks like a mini-mutated Sceptile. Originally I would've chosen Tsutaja as my starter, because he just looked so badass, next Pokabu, then Mijumaru. I disliked Wotter the most to begin with because he looked like a crappy mix between Buizel and Piplup, although now, his evo is looking pretty nice.

1st evo)
Mijumaru>Pokabu>Tsutaja

2nd evo)
Pokabu>Tsutaja>Mijumaru

That's not it... ugh. It's like how someone might describe what happened to the eyes of a fish who lived in a cave for centuries, which become dysfunctional or disappear since it hasn't had to use them. I don't know. I can't believe I don't know the word.

But I have to agree, while I don't know if Pokabu is going to have a cooler evolution, I do feel like Tsutarja's evolution doesn't quite invoke the same coolness as Tsutarja does. But the final evolution will probably still be cool. Of course, now I've been proven wrong-- maybe Mijumaru WILL evolve from being a sad otter to something actually relatively cool... I hoped he would stay dumb forever.

Please, please, please, please, PLEASE steal the electric Quetzalcoatl idea from SE, please, Gamefreak. Don't let it become Grass/Flying.

EDIT: Vestigial IS REALLY REALLY close. The limbs on Tsutarja evolution (What did that stuff call it? Tsutakeku?) are vestigial, but that's not what caused them to become vestigial. Something-troph? Arrrgh, it's driving me crazy.

10 bucks says Koromori is a Zubat replacement for caves. YES!

I think you are referring to vestigial organs. Which would be sweet if it indicates it becoming a dragon. I personally find the 2nd evolution to be fine. To me it pulled a charmander and what most of the evolutions do make a bigger version. I lold when someone said they hate the new evelution but loved grovyll as to me the two are very similar. It is the final stage that all detail is giving. Also obviously instead of being emo the water starter watched the movie never back down and went to go train to punch everyone in the face that talked about beating him up. Goes to show you be careful who you pick on. Water Fighting for the win and I am officailly declaring him as my starter even if the grass one gets dragon typing (I ll run both then:))

On another note I wonder why pokabu (whatever the fire one's name is didn't get have its evolution in the beta. I also like that thing that is nexted to that new girl. I hope it comes out cool. Overall this gen started out failure for be but slowly all the pokemon are growing me. That fanart for the mole is sweet. I can't wait to get an officail pic of the tyranitar thing.

My guess is that important people get Mijumaru and Tsutarja (new girl, Iris or whatever, and Ash, respectively?), and no one gets Pokabu. But this is neither here nor there, don't want to get off topic... (of course, I didn't mind getting off topic for fakemon earlier but whatever, LOL...)

you mean ATROPHY, i think ;p

to the second evo i really didn't like it ,let's hope that the last evo is bad-ass, and here i was thinking that tsutarja would be sceptile redeption and become a fast grass/dragon hitter, oh well

What's wrong with the Tsutaaja evo? It's pretty. :3

Let's face it moaners, the minute this game comes out you're all gonna forget what you were hating about, buy the game anyway then go poop and fall asleep.

What I think is really interesting AND an example of generational art growth is the fact that we've yet to see evolutions of Pokemon that are essentially just fusions of multiple prevos. Examples include Weezing, Magneton, Dugtrio. I think Game Freak has moved on from this sort of copout on creative thinking, moving onto evolutions that are different and inspiring. Correct me if I'm wrong but after Gen 1, I can't think of any of these triplet-fusion evolutions. Just shows that the styles of Pokemon and GF's art very much evolves.

Don't forget Dodrio!

Speaking of which, did anybody notice the passage posted on Pokebeach a few entries down?
There's a team of people that is in charge of monster design. They're listed under "Pokemon Design." They come up with the ideas. They decide which ones are the best and refine them. Then, Ken Sugimori draws those designs. In the first generation, it was a group of four people (Sugimori being one of them), and Satoshi Tajiri's role (the creator of Pokemon) in creating the monsters was basically to approve them and suggest changes after the basic ideas were being designed. He's the only one under "Director" and "Game Design" for the first generation which means that he was in charge of pulling everything together and the overall experience of playing the game.
Nowadays... well, the truth is that in Ruby and Sapphire, Junichi Masuda took over. Ever since R/S/E, Satoshi Tajiri has not been working on the games at all. He's listed as "Executive Director" in most games. What does this mean? "Executive Director" is a fancy way of saying "this is the original creator, he approved this game but was not an active part of development." Occasionally he's listed as an "Executive Producer," which, from what I can gather, means he funded it but was still not an active member in developing it. Finally, in Pokemon Rumble (surprisingly enough), only Sugimori and Masuda are listed in the credits as "advisers" for the spin-off game. Tajiri is not listed at all.
So, Satoshi Tajiri is not really putting his mind into the monsters anymore. However, there is another part of why the monsters look different. The "Pokemon Design" of D/P/Pt was held by thirteen people. Ten of these people did not work on the first generation's Pokemon; Shigeki Morimoto (he's the guy who put Mew into the game) also stopped doing monster design during D/P/Pt. What does this mean? The people coming up with the Pokemon ideas are, mostly, different people each generation. R/S hired a ton of people, and that's why the third generation's style was so different. Black and White has also hired more people.
Thus, the main reason why the Black and White Pokemon look weird is because the design team has new people on it. Also, Satoshi Tajiri hasn't worked on the games for a looooong time (since the Gold and Silver days), thus the reason why Gen III and Gen IV looked so different from Gen I and Gen II. And now Gen V could look very different as well.

So don't hate on "Pokemon" or "Game Freak," hate on the new designers if you must hate on something.

I'm starting to enjoy these new pokemon. If you don't like them, too bad, you honestly sound like a broken record bitching about art. Over designed, under designed, what the hell are you talking about? The grass evolution is just that, a first stage evolution, nothing drastic is going to change.

If you expected the first stage evolution to be drastically different 'like previous generations' then your arguement is as sound as nails on a chalkboard. first gen had some of the worst evolutions in the game. Magnemite -> magneton... doduo -> dodrio... Diglett -> Dugtrio. Stop your complaining unless you have some kind of solidified arguement to make. Otherwise, this is technically just trolling. You might as well just say 'the whole games are fail'

Could have just left it at pointing out the first-gen starters. :P People complaining about them not looking different enough obviously don't know what they're talking about and are just looking for something to complain about.
