I think 10% is a big boost, 5% is okay..
and what do you guys think about the new types, I mean we got Water/Fighting, but what do you guys think was the biggest letdown? Of course, from the rumors, nothing's confirmed yet

Tsutaja is the biggest letdown, imo. Granted we don't know what the final evo looks like, but it doesn't look like it'll have access to the powders like most grass types, it is outclassed as a subseeder by Jumpluff/Sceptile, and its offensive stats are average at best. I'm hoping it isn't like Cacturne where the stats and moves don't match up.
Wasn't it already decided the stats were more than likely fake because their BST total was legendary-worthy?
And we don't know what effect Grass Mixer, or any other other possible new tricks that it might get. Be it this gen's "leaf blade", or "leaf storm", there is going to be SOME niche with this pokemon.

Unfortunately, Grass Mixer only reduces accuracy. A few people are guessing it's essentially a Grass-type Mud Bomb.
I'm still hoping Tsutarja becomes Grass/Electric...
What are the merits of Grass/Steel?
you get a neutral to bug, ground, ice, flying, you have a weakness to fighting, and a 4x weakness to fire. only two weaknesses is pretty decent, but both are rather common. as an attacking combo, you only get 4 SE hits on anything: water rock ground ice. fire and steel resist both STABs (heatran yay :P)

It's a great typing, lots of resistances and only Fire and Fighting weaknesses. It'd have neutrality to Ground, and also be the first Steel type that resists both Electric and Water.
However, Tsutaja and it's evo pictured in the beta artwork don't seem like they would turn out Grass/Steel. I really want that typing, but on a different Pokemon line.
I hope so, man I really hope they are fake and that it gets more points in attack and less in defense!

Lemme explain a bit better on the Shuckle thing.
We will do a simple Machamp versus Shuckle calculation and Gengar versus Shuckle calculation.
Lead Machamp Dynamic Punch vs. +def nature max HP max def. Shuckle: 27.9% - 33.6%
Lead Machamp Dynamic Punch vs. +HP (5%) nature max HP max def. Shuckle: 30.0% - 35.5%
Lead Machamp Dynamic Punch vs. +HP (10%) nature max HP max def. Shuckle: 29.0% - 34.4%
In this case, you can clearly see that getting 10% bonus added to your already high defense gives you a clear bonus over even 10% HP in survivability.

LO Gengar Shadow Ball vs. +HP (5%) nature max HP max def. Shuckle: 32.4% - 38.3%

In this case, we see that Shuckle gets a bit of a benefit from having that +HP nature. BUT-----
The key is in the fine print. The +def nature gets 5.4% more damage reduction from physical attacks than the 5% HP nature, but the +HP nature only gets 3.8% more damage reduction from special attacks. The same exact procedure can be utilized with sp. def to get the same results. That disparity of 1.6% is small, but it shows conclusively that 5% HP is worse on Shuckle overall than +def or +sp.def in total defensive ability because 5% of 181 hp is a much smaller number than 10% of 496 (Shuckle's base defense is THAT HIGH).
In the case of a 10% +HP nature, the +def is only 2.8% more defensive on the physical side, while the +HP nature would be 7% more defensive on the special side, making it 4.2% more effective in total defenses.
TLDR: +5% HP nature would be worse on Shuckle than +10% Defense, but +10% HP would be better on ANYTHING in the game that is defensive, so it won't happen, too overpowered.

I agree; they all look nice and have a clear presentation, thanks for sharing the link. The two-line descriptions beneath each Pokemon's name really added a lot of flavor to the pages.
I've heard there is supposed to be a new Pokemon released tomorrow on Pokemon Sunday, and I'm anxious to see it. Odds are when I return to this forum tomorrow, there will be half a dozen pages of ravings for me to read through! Don't disappoint me, everyone...!

Being the first Grass to have more resistances than weakness, to begin with. Weak to Fire (4x) and Fighting, but resistant to (Stealth) Rock, Electric, Water, Grass (4x), Steel, Psychic, etc etc... Seems a really nice typing, for once.

I don't think I've been this excited to play Pokemon since I was 8 and wanted Pokemon Red. These games just seem like they're gonna be a whole different level than previous ones.
Me too, I think it's because now I actually am more competitive in the games that I look forward to new additions to it and the like.
Grass and Steel resists Water and Electric without being weak to Ice or Grass. I think it's the only type combination to do so. It also resists the Dragon+Electric and Dragon+Water type combinations. The Fighting weakness doesn't seem that bad to me since Machamp will confuse you if you're not a Ghost-type and a +2 Close Combat from Lucario will OHKO almost all Pokemon that don't resist it. Gengar's Focus Blast would mean that it can't counter it but since many Gengar run HP Fire anyway, you shouldn't be switching in on one unless it's locked into a resisted move. The 4x Fire weakness isn't great but you can usually predict Fire attacks, anyway.
That said, I'd much rather see Tsutarja become Grass/Electric. We know Tsutarja has the lowest Base HP out of any of the starters so it's going to be pretty frail and wouldn't be able to benefit from the defensive nature of Grass/Steel. Grass/Electric is a much better offensive type since it's only resisted by Grass-types, Dragon-types, and a few other type combinations like Electric/Steel, while Steel offers very little in combination with Grass.
