Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

1) Yes it advances the RNG by 1 frame, this is explained in the first post under the hide tags.
2) No, if they move in a set pattern then they do not advance frames you should be able to tell what a set pattern is and what isn't and by what you post it looks like a set pattern.

"To do this, make a note of your method J frame and then locate the this frame - 3 in a method 1 list"

Does this mean I should subtract 3 from the frame number? Not entirely clear on what this is saying.

ok now your talking about encounter slots, ignore that you don't have to do that math just go to the frame(s) that has the spread you want right click and select calculate encounter slots and RNG reporter will do it for you.

Another question, sorry about the double post.

On the Seed to Times / Adjacent Finder, it lists the delay as 628. However, checking with coin flip, I hit a delay of 631. Does this mean I have to retry the "hitting your target time" step?

@Skippy: Do you have Syberias flawless ditto? If so, you can use international instead of normal, which usually shows up with a lot more shiny spreads, most being pretty low.

Yes, but it's on my Soul Silver. I'll ask in SQ/SR if someone wants to help me transfer it to my Platinum, and then see what happens once I get it there.

That happened...5 times in a row now, with no screw ups !!! ^_^

Finally, and I mean finally, my first RNG abused pokemon:

147.png

Dratini
Nature: Rash
IVs: ( 31 / 31/ 31 / 31 / 31 / 31)

This beauty was a tough one. I encountered so many problems but its so sweet to conquer success in the end ^_^. I'd like to give a HUGE thanks to Bakus, and if there was an award on this forum for "the most helpful user" you'd definitely get my vote. Seriously. Couldn't had done it without you. And also a special thanks to Dea and any others who helped over the past few days. I imagine I shouldn't have any other problems with egg IV abusing seeing how I've probably went up against every problem in the book. Thanks guys, this stuff is sweet.

(Even though this should go in the discuss my pokemon thread, I wanted to post it here so the peeps that helped me can see what I did)

Nevada11, that's a very nice breed, and I was about to do the same thing with a Hasty nature.
My question is, how did you get the right nature? I understand how to RNG a shiny egg and egg IVs, but wouldn't the nature be random?

The nature comes with the shiny egg. The nature is determined by the PID.

If you're not breeding for shiny, then use seed finder and method: Egg PID (international if parents are international) to generate a spread and tap for it before putting your parents into the daycare.

I'm doing this in SoulSilver, and RNG Reporter doesn't give me any results from Seed Finder. I'm following Riski's guide to egg IVs, but it doesn't say anything about natures, unfortunately.
Thanks for the help.

For beginners would you recommend trying to RNG a good capture or a good egg? I'm trying capture right now and I can't seem to get the delay right. Any tips on that?

CPrime: Sorries then - I'm no help there, XD.

Ranigad: Personally, I'd suggest breeding first simply because it seems to have more spreads for you to choose from (and the delays you have to hit on breeding can completely match with the delays that you got from calibration - with catching...you might have to use pikatimer). Another reason is there's more Youtube videos on help with breeding.

Hitting your calibrated delay = getting consistent with your speed. Probably the only advice I suppose.
Hitting something lower/higher than what you calibrated = pikatimer. You might get away with doing it on instinct and timing yourself thereafter, but pikatimer is easier imo.

So I decided to start learning to abuse the RNG and everything seems to be going well until I used the pikatimer. I read that after you press Start, there are supposed to be beeps or dings every second when there are 10 seconds remaining, but I don't hear anything. Anyone else have this problem with the sound?

1. check your sound. 2. i remember a few pages back someone was having the same problem. i'm not sure if anyone ever answered it.

I recently was given a heartgold, I caught all my legends in soulsilver before i even heard of rng abusing or cared about competitive battling outside my friends. anyway...
So i'm about to go into burned tower. Should i attempt to rng the dogs here? Can i even rng the dogs at this point? I dont have the necessary elm responses on this game, but i heard Irwin responses work the same. Or should i just kill them and then rng them after the elite four?

pianoforte: First of all, are you hearing any sounds at all? For the first timer, you should one one ring at 10 and then four rings 3,2,1,0. For the second timer, it starts at 10 and goes down to 0, so 11rings total.

Yea my sound on my desktop comp works for everything else. I tried redownloading poketimer as well as reinstalling Java, but still no sound. There's also no sound when I tried it on my laptop.

Do the delays and seconds affect if there is a countdown ring?

Delays and seconds will just adjust the time, but the ding should still occur. I'm not sure why you're not getting it then. I'm sorry :/
If you're wanting to breed though and just need to calibrate and hit your calibrated delays/etc then you can try emloop(google search - it's the Japanese website) while you wait for someone more knowledgeable maybe? XD

I have the same problem on one of my computers, the one that runs XP. It works fine on my Windows 7 computer though...yeah, I don't get it either :/ It's really hard to use without the dings though.

So I'm trying to hit a delay of 2746. I've worked out that this should take 48.26 seconds from booting up the game.

But yeah the problem is, I'm not hitting what I'm supposed to be and I can't find out what I'm hitting because RNG reporter doesn't search delays so high. This is the only seed I can catch a flawless adamant Larvitar on so changing seeds isn't an option. Any suggestions? Also it seems I'm way out because I've scanned the closest 1000 seeds' elm feedback and nothing.

Well, I'm just starting to RNG and learn the ropes by simply hatching a shiny egg, yet I can never get it, though I think I've realized why. It's where I go to catch the 50+ pokemon. I never bothered to realize the weather affect. So can anyone kindly tell me a good area for 50+ 'mons in Platinum?

Right next to the survival area. The pokes are high 40's, but it still works for hatching shiny eggs :) I only hatched my first today. Good luck!
