Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

As long as the base Pokémon is legal, the clones should be legal. And no, you can't give a nickname to an event Pokémon unless you catch it in-game

You can nickname an event pokemon if you RNG for the same Trainer ID and Name (well, you don't have to RNG for the name... you just enter it. :-P) From what I've heard, there is no need for the Secret ID to be the same.

Hypothetically, if an NU Pokemon were to get enough usage in Standard to make the cut, but not in UU, would it go into UU or straight into OU?

Is this close to what you are looking for?

I guess that's the closest thing I'll get. I thought a "hacked pokemon" was just by means of tournaments and like pkmn battle revolution...
anyways, I just hate how not knowing more infos about this I might have some of my own poke's infected since some were cloned via pokesav and idk if I have the real one or the clone.

another question then : is it true that shinies have a "2nd IV value for every stat" ? By this I mean thats it has 2 0-31 values, added together, capping out at 31 so it has 32/63 chances of having a max iv in each stat. If so, is there any info on how it affects the RNG? like how the 2nd iv stat is decided, if this is tken in consideration by the RNG reporter and how does it work with the seeds? basically, any more info then what Serebii says would be appreciated X)

EDIT : since I'm starting RNG'ing, I would like some kind of reference so I don't get desperate over fail SR... anyone can tell me an average amount of SR for a certain pokemon going something like : Pro-expert-experienced-confident-lucky-rising star-starter-beginner-noob-complete fail (the scale is based on the trainer's experience at RNG'ing basically :P )

hi just want to ask is about ev and how can i check if their right thank you
If you know your pokemon's IVs, just put the stats and IV into the Smogon Damage Calculator (which is more than just a damage calculator: http://www.smogon.com/calc/), click on the "Reverse EV Calc" radio button, and then click on the Calculate button, and you'll see what EVs you gave your pokemon.
EDIT: actually you don't need to press the calculate button. Just press enter. But also, it's only 100% accurate if it's a high enough level or if you have a few rare candies and test this over a number of levels.

However, if you do not know your pokemon's IVs, then you will need a bunch of rare candies and plenty of unEVing berries. Just save, and then apply enough unEVing berries until you are certain of what they are. e.g. if you know you have 200-something EVs on a stat but aren't sure of the exact number, then just use one berry and it should be back to 100 EVs. If you have somewhere between 0 - 100, then you'd have to unEV until it's 0 EVs. Then just put the stats into an IV calculator that allows for multiple level inputs (like MetalKid's IV Calculator) and use rare candies and input into calculator until you find the exact IVs. Then reset and go do the instructions in the above paragraph to find what your current EVs are.

(I'm assuming you're not using any external device, of course.)

clarinetist87, Zacchaeus:

In generation 4, only the lower 16 bits of the 32-bit trainer ID, the part visible on the summary screen, needs to match for the Pokemon to be renamed. The OT name, the so-called "secret ID", and the OT gender are not considered in this case. This is a change from generation 3, where the entire 32-bit ID and OT name had to match those of the player.

So, when I was registering a nickname for IRC, I misread the instructions and screwed up my email address. Is there any way to fix this, or do I have to pick a different nickname?

How does a Wailmer/Wailord acquire the move Selfdestruct? It's listed in the Smogon movepool, but not Serebii's, so I've no idea how to obtain it.

:o Thanks in advance.

Pokemon XD Move Tutor

Thank you.

I have another question very similar; how does Persian go about learning Petal Dance? Is that also in XD? Is there a way for me to find out XD exclusive moves? Like some sort of list?

Edit: Nevermind, it's an event only move. My other questions still stand, though.

What are the best team options of an offensive team based around Sword Dance Infernape? On Wi-fi, not on Shoddy Battle.

Well probably something like Passho Berry Heatran with Magma Storm and Explosion (lures out Bulky Waters, trap them and take them out with Explosion).

This is my first post on this site, and after a fair amount of hunting, I've decided to ask if there is any way at all to reliably pick and choose how Hidden Power's typing comes up.
Example being: Buddy's setting up an NU tourney, and I want a Modest Natured Magmortar to know Hidden Power Ice.
I understand some natures and pokemon can't learn Hidden Natures of certain types due to IV conflicts. But, being as I'm relatively inexperienced at breeding, I have no clue, and am completely overwhelmed by the multitudes of stuff that goes on behind the scenes... So, any help'd be nice, and if you could include the Magmortar example, that'd be lovely, as that's the problem I'm facing.

IV determine what type of Hidden Power you get.
For the Magmortar example, you'll need 31 HP / 30 Atk / 30 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe IV's for a Modest nature. This IV combination will give a Hidden Power Ice of 70 BP. There are other possible combinations as well.
For example, an IV combination of 31 HP / 28 Atk / 28 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe will also give you a Hidden Power Ice but this one is a little weaker with a BP of 66.

And is that in base stats? Meaning, would I be able to enter those into an IV calculator, have it crunch, and reverse-figure from there as to what I need the Magby to look like?

Those are the IVs (fixed numbers different for each pokemon). Base stats are the same for every species of pokemon. So a Magby with those IVs should have hp ice. But if this is in-game, it'll be hard to get such perfect IVs short of rng or breeding.

I have no idea of what lower IV combinations will work, but if this is in game (and you aren't particular about good IVs) you can find the IVs of the Magby, dump it in shoddy battle's team generator and see what the hp type is.

And one final question: These are things I can figure out at any level, or does the recommended level 20-30 still apply here, as well?

Additionally, is there a way I can reliably figure this out in the future on other Pokemon so I don't have to come crying back here?
