Well probably something like Passho Berry Heatran with Magma Storm and Explosion (lures out Bulky Waters, trap them and take them out with Explosion).

Can you give me a set please? I'm not much of a competitive battler, but I think it's still helpful to use the sets in general.

And one final question: These are things I can figure out at any level, or does the recommended level 20-30 still apply here, as well?

Additionally, is there a way I can reliably figure this out in the future on other Pokemon so I don't have to come crying back here?

If it's at a low level (say, below 50) you'll probably need a range of levels and sometimes a few EVs to find the IVs. metalkid's IV calculator is good for that.
http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/Calculators/IV.aspx
I'm not sure what 'this' refers to, but all pokemon apply to that IV calculator

Those are the IVs (fixed numbers different for each pokemon). Base stats are the same for every species of pokemon. So a Magby with those IVs should have hp ice. But if this is in-game, it'll be hard to get such perfect IVs short of rng or breeding.

I have no idea of what lower IV combinations will work, but if this is in game (and you aren't particular about good IVs) you can find the IVs of the Magby, dump it in shoddy battle's team generator and see what the hp type is.

I've been in an attempt to breed my friend and I's teams, as I'm the guy in our play group who has taken the time to set myself up with the tools for breeding... Now it's time to learn the skills along with it. So any further tips would be awesome, but PMs would be nice so we don't gum it up here.

There's one on Heatran's page in the main site. But I'll post it here anyway.

Name: Heat-Trap
Heatran w/ Passho Berry
Modest Nature / Flash Fire
EVs: 128 HP/212 SpAtt/168 Speed
-Magma Storm
-HP Grass
-Dragon Pulse/Taunt/Earth Power
-Explosion/Taunt

My bad. "This" referring to a way to take a pokemon and the type of hidden nature I want, plug it into a calculator, and it tells me exactly what IVs are required so I know what to go hunting/breeding for?

Hello I'm new here (hopefully I'm not breaking any rules by asking this here). I recently came up with a team that is largely UU (Roserade, Lucario, Kingler, Ursaring, Slowking & Mismagius). I'm looking for suitable UU replacements for both Roserade and Lucario as they are listed as OU. What would be good to replace those two (the earlier available in the game the better - also I'm restricted to HeartGold, so if possible a replacement for Ursaring would be nice as well)? I would like to ask about Pokemon available earlier in the game as potential place holders for some of the others, but the initial question is most important. Thank you in advance, it's greatly appreciated. ^_^

Machoke makes an interesting replacement to either Lucario (no guard) or Ursaring (guts) and is available in Goldenrod via trade.

Weezing could replace Roserade if you're fine with losing the grass-type and going more defensive. (Burned tower)

Arcanine could provide priority moves you would miss losing Lucario, but doesn't otherwise fit as a replacement. (Route 35)

The pokewalker provides many interesting options for early-game acquisitions if you wish to invest time into it.

I'm 90 hours into my HeartGold game.. beating the E4 and Red a few times, ev trained about 20 Pokemon, leveled em up, etc etc.. and im kind of.. done with the game, theres really nothing entertaining to do. But I have so many Pokemon and things done on that game, that I dont want to restart it and lose it all..

For you who've been in this situation and "slump" what should I do? I need my Pokemon fix.

Battle players over wifi (or in your local area if you know of others who play this game).

ALSO, go to Battle Frontier and aim to get your gold prints and compete for high streaks! Smogon has a thread dedicated to Battle Frontier: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52858 , with lists of the highest streaks people on smogon has obtained in the various Frontier categories. Form a strategy, breed and train up your pokemon, and try to get on the list!. :) You'll get Battle Points while playing through your frontier, so that will help in your future breeding/EVing (or move tutor or TM).

EDIT:
@Stylish Interval:
Not totally sure if this was what you're looking for. X-Act has a thread on Stats Ratings: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39556 with formulae for a Pokemon's Physical/Special Tankiness and Sweepiness.

He also has an applet to calculate the best defensive EV spread depending on how physically/specially defensive you want your pokemon to be, based on base stats, IVs, and potentially its ability if it's relevant: http://users.smogon.com/X-Act/defense.html

I am trying to make a choice band Azelf as an anti-lead/sweeper with the following moveset:

Nature: Jolly
- U-turn
- Ice punch
- Thunder punch
- Explosion

Can anyone name me some possible pokes that could possibly survive this set? So far I only know Skarmory could survive all my attacks and haven't found any others that could. Would like to know the possible walls that could survive so i could think about backup strategies.

Pretty much any Steel type can wall that set, and U-turn and Explosion aren't good for sweeping. I personally wouldn't try to sweep and be an anti-lead at the same time, but I don't think Azelf would be the best candidate for the job if you insist on having both

I am trying to use it to try at least take down my opponent before he starts to set up with their lead. The explosion serves well in defeating the steel types. I tried to use a damage calculator and finds that i could barely kill metagross or 1HKO heatran with explosion if they are running smogon moveset because they dont have def EV's. Anyway, thanks for your comment

Edit: My calculation with metagross is wrong i guess. I can only 1HKO it if i could reach the upper range damage with explosion which are quite rare...

I've been trying to edit my signature, and I want to name my link as : My trade thread and hide the link, like most people do... but I don't get how you can do that... I've been trying for a while now -.-

EDIT: thanks for the fast answer

Click the 'Insert Link' icon when you edit your signature, it's that icon with the globe in it.
Enter the URL of the link in the box that pops up.
Your link should show up in the Edit Signature box with a part highlighted already for you, replace the highlighted part with the name you want to hide your link under eg My Trade Thread.

I hope that was clear enough.

The only problem is that a decent Steel Type resists all your moves and forces you to explode or switch. And, they'll likely be at full health. It you get unlucky and hit a Sashed Steel Type, you'll have just wasted your Azelf.

Also, i have a bad feeling that Lead Gross aren't gonna stay in on you, they'd rather switch to a ghost to avoid Explosion. Just saying, is all, but i think that being an Anti-Lead and a Sweeper at the same time is not a good idea.

A lead Metagross would not switch to a Ghost to avoid Explosion because Metagross isn't really afraid of Explosion, unless it's backed by a Choice Band which not many Azelfs run. It would be much more likely to switch to something that can take a Fire attack in case Fire Blast comes at Metagross

Ok, thanks for the comments. I guess anything sashed would really bring me trouble then. The main role of this Azelf mainly is just to prevent set ups by sacrificing itself actually. So i just wanted to try to surprise my opponent because most likely they would expect me to use either taunt or stealth rock. I guess my idea don't work lol

A very odd question, I'm trying to adapt the likeness of a singer I really like to a Pokemon (as part of creating a conceptual team). Her favourite colour is orange (so I want the Pokemon to be orange or be of a colour close to it), and in any way fulfill the majority of these traits:

Special skill: dance, Hobbies/Interests: Violin, watching Movies, food, Acon (her stuffed toy pig), hats, her mother's birthday presents,

I know it's strange but I've been able to do it for others (such as Park Gyuri of korean girl group KARA in which I used her favourite colour [purple], enjoyment to wake up the other members of the group at night, and attention to dark circles under her eyes) to select Mismagius as a match. Once again, thank you in advance, and it's really appreciated.

@SiriusWing: If you haven't yet, this site has pokemon listed by their color index:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pok%C3%A9mon_by_color

Red is the closest to orange. I was thinking "dragon dance" Charizard or "swords dance" Blaziken. ... food = cooking, cooking requires fire, right? lol. You know what kind of food she likes eating? Chicken (Blaziken), Octopus (Octillery)? Mushroom (Parasect)? hehe...

EDIT: Brown category has a bunch of orange ones too.

Fair point. Still doesn't warrant the use of such a set on Azelf, though. If Metagross stays in on you, that's even worse, it gets free Rocks in the worst case scenario.

Um, i guess if your local area is flooded with Grass leads (Spiker Roserade springs to mind), then i suppose, but it would be rather specialized and in the grand scheme of things, better off with the regular set. Also, it's kind of self contradictory, you say you want to stop set up, yet you forgo Taunt? That doesn't make sense to me.

EDIT: Actually, i take back what i said about keeping Ice Punch for Grass Types. Mind blanked and i forgot Fire Blast does the same job, or Flamethrower for more accuracy. So yeah, don't bother.

Are there any other good sites for looking for battles besides this one? incase anyone here also wants to battle my code is 0518 2185 8580 looking for my first battle and im not even sure how to find one. thankyou
