Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Okay, new post. Newango, catch any Pokémon from a Honey Tree. If the Pokémon is Aipom, Heracross, or Munchlax, it cannot learn any STAB attacks. If it is Wurmple, Cascoon, Burmy, Combee, or Cherubi, it must have moves of at least 3 different types.
after running through platinum like 3 times for scrambles, i know that you cant get the super rod until after the E4 and you cant access the northeastern island until after the E4 either :P and i've never seen a phanpy in any of the runthroughs so i assumed you couldnt get one with the sinnoh dex.
@EddieD
for LG: catch a slowbro in the seafoam islands. then trade it for the lickitung from the boy west of fuchia city. lickitung has to solo every trainer in the bikergang on 3rd island, or you may not use him/her in the E4, or any rival battle that occurs after.
for Saphire: take kecleon! it must be the kecleon that Steven reveals to you. name it "Arceus"
before you get to mossdeep, must have type changed into electric, psychic, dark, water, fire, grass
before you get to sootopolis, must have type changed into ice, ground, poison, rock, bug, fighting
before you get to victory road, must have type changed into dragon, ghost, steel
failure to complete any of these challenges means you may not use kecleon at all until the E4.
What happened to your good hard challenges? I miss those :P
In other news, I'm facing Lance in my HG scramble, so I will be updating soon. I just need to stop getting hit by stupid Dragonite and his Dragon Rush/Thunder/Blizzard. Seriously, he hits me everytime, preventing my Azumarill sweep.
You have TWO scrambles??? Therefore, Lolcat will ruin your games TWICE! Have a bad time!
For Leafgreen: Take an Exeggcute from the Safari Zone. Name it Exeggutor. To evolve it, it must know Giga Drain, Confusion, a status move, and one other move. It must be Level 40 upon evolution. Once it evolves, name it Exeggcute.
For Sapphire: Take a Numel. To evolve it it must solo seven Pokemon belonging to Gym Leaders. It may learn ONE of the following moves: Earthquake, Rock Slide, Eruption.
Wow you guys sure are fast with the challenges!! I was originally only going to do one, but you guys started creating challenges for both, so I guess I have no choice but to do both. I will, however, only do one at a time (most likely).
Here are the challenges so far:
Leaf Green:
1) Nidoran Female: Must Evolve into Nidorina at 16 and into Nidoqueen at 16.
2) Exeggcute: Evolve at Lv 40, must know Giga Drain, a Status Move, Confusion, and another move. Named Exeggutor as an Exeggcute and Exeggcute as an Exeggutor. (Thanks to this challenge, I can now spell Exeggcute and Exeggutor!)
3) Lickitung: Traded Slowbro must be captured as a Slowbro in Seafoam Islands and (Lickitung) must solo the Biker Gang on Three Island. Otherwise, I can't use it in the E4 or any future rival battle.
4) Charmander: Named DRACO. To evolve into Charmeleon and Charizard, it must solo a Rival Pokemon on the Nugget Bridge and at Silph Co. respectively. If Charizard does not solo a Rival pokemon in the second to last rival battle, it cannot participate in the E4.
5) Voltorb: Named Hotdog. Must be acquired before Surge and must solo Sabrina or Koga to evolve.
So for (Sapphire)
1) Mudkip: no Evolutions, no Stab except HMs
2) Ralts: Named Hammond. Must be only Pokemon used in Kecleon battle, otherwise no Gardevoir, can only evolve at Lv. 35 or higher and after fortree and can not learn Psychic by level up.
3) Numel: To evolve it must solo 7 gym pokemon and can only know one of the following: Eruption, Rock Slide, or Earthquake
4) Kecleon: Named Arceus, It must be the one Steven points out. It's type must change to the following types by the following cities. Otherwise, it can not be used until the E4. Mossdeep: electric, psychic, dark, water, fire, grass Sootopolis: ice, ground, poison, rock, bug, fighting Victory Road: dragon, ghost, steel
5) Swablu: Named Puff M.D, must always know two support moves upon and after evolution, no dragon moves
6) Sableye: Must solo Brawley, otherwise no STAB moves.
Gotta say, those Kecleon and Voltorb challenges are particularly evil >_<
Okay Sapphire is done, so I guess I'll start that one now. I'll update around Brawley on how I'm doing.
Eddie:
Charmander will be your LG starter, must solo one of the Rival's Pokémon (on Nugget Bridge) before evolving Charmeleon, must solo one of the Rival's Pokémon (in Silph) before evolving Charizard, and must solo one of the Rival's Pokémon (before badge check) as Charizard or it cannot be used against the Elite Four or the last Rival battle. Name it DRACO.
@Eddie:
in sapphire. Bring a Swablu name it "Puff M.D." It may not know any dragon-type moves and it must know at least 2 support moves before (and after [as in: don't delete them]) evolution
in leafgreen. a Voltorb named "Hot Dog." You must catch (or obtain) it before you fight Surge. It must solo either Koga or Sabrina to evolve (but not both [unless you really want to])
I was posting from my Ipod at school, and there's only so much time you can spend posting before you actually have to finish your physics assignment... lol
Anyways, Eddie, before you get too happy, that Ralts will have restrictions. A slight variation of what i normally give out on Ralts: Evolves only at Lv.35 or higher, and it must be after Fortree. Also, it must be the only pokemon you send into battle with the Kecleon Steven points out to you. If you don't use it and only it to catch Kecleon, it can never evolve to a Gardevoir. Also, if you want to learn Psychic, you must do it by TM, not by level up.
-Croagunk. It can't evolve until it has both STAB moves covered by a special attacking move. It must keep those moves forever
-Chimchar as your starter and name him/her Butch. It may only have two attacking moves at a time, and only one can be STAB. It must 5 trainers on the sea route north of Sunnyshore before evolving.
-Bidoof. It must always have at least 1 Water-type attack, and can only evolve by soloing Gardenia's Roselia.
-Burmy. It must be male, and evolve into Mothim at right away. It must always know Protect.
-female hippopotas named "BigBertha". it may only evolve if it kills itself through Recoil one time.
-Pachirisu. It can only learn one Electric attack, and its remaining three attacks must be Normal type. If you don't want a Pachirisu, you must breed a Pichu/Pikachu to have Volt Tackle, and it must keep Volt Tackle as it's only Electric attack. Pichu can evolve, but Pikachu cannot
BlackCharizard, for Sapphire, i'm afraid you're stuck with a Wingull. Name it "Briney", and you must use it to solo onne of the Gym Leader's pokemon, of the Gym you encounter next after catching it (eg caught at 2 badges, solo Mauville, or caught at 4 badges, solo Petalburg, etc.).
EddieD: In your Sapphire, take a Sableye. It must solo Brawly. If it does not, it cannot use any STAB moves.
Blackcharizard: In your Sapphire, take a Zigzagoon named ZIGGY. It must have the ability Pickup, and cannot evolve until you have defeated Winona. It may never learn an HM.
@EddieD, for your last LG Pokemon, I give you Shellder. It can evolve upon learning Ice Beam and must also know Surf and Explosion.
@BlackCharizard, for Sapphire I grant you Seviper! It must know 4 attacks of whatever attacking stat is higher (ie, if your special attack is higher, 4 special attack moveset). If they are equal or within a couple points, split it evenly.
- Take a Piplup for your starter. It must defeat 12 Bidoof to evolve, and can have only attacking moves
- Take a Gible. It may only evolve into Gabite by learning Fire Blast and using it at least once on Maylene's Lucario. It may only evolve into Garchomp by learning Dragon Pulse or Draco Meteor. It must keep both of those moves forever. It also may not have any physical attacks.
- "Powderman" the Tangela. Tangela may only evolve if it knows poisonpowder, sleeppowder, stun spore, and ancient power. Also, it may only evolve if it is level 35. You do not need to keep any of these moves after evolving
- Take a Pachirisu. Name it "Secondrate". It may only use moves purchased from the Veilstone game corner and you may only buy the coins necessary to get these moves using money you got from items you've sold that were obtained from Pachirisu's pick up (keep a tally of the items you pick up and the money you sell them for). No slots either.
Well, I need two more Pokémons to complete my team. Pachirisu will be really, really difficult to train and use...
@newangno, after looking at the ridiculous ammount of money that this would cost you, I think that it's fair that I change my ruling so that pachirisu only has to obtain half the money to buy the tms (well, half the money to buy the coins to buy the tms, but you get the picture). You may also gamble for the other half of the coins, but at least half of the coins must still be directly bought from pachirisu's items. I think that makes it a little more fair.
6) Shellder: Can only evolve after learning ice beam. Must also know surf and Explosion.
Sapphire:
@Newango, get a Skorupi named Goblin. If it has Battle Armor, it must know Toxic Spikes and Double Team before evolving, and keep both. If it has Sniper, it must know Pin Missile and Cross Poison before evolving, and keep both. It must always know Shadow Ball.
-Onix called SolidRock. Make sure it has no rock type moves. -Marill. Don't give it a nickname. It can't evolve until after you beat Team Rocket in Mahogany Town. -Mantine named Mantro♂ (yes you need the male symbol). after it learns wingattack, it must always have a flying and a water move on it. both moves must be able to cause direct damage. -HG bring a Chikorita named "BL Fighter" it must be a Dual Screen-ing. Once it evolves into Meganium its only attacking move must be Solar Beam. -Caterpie into a Butterfree. Name the bug you pick Picard -Slugma Egg from Primo. It must sucessfully solo one of Morty's 'mon to evolve. If you don't, and you solo one other gym leader fully, it can then evolve.
So, here is a log of my battles against the Elite 4.
Will
-Lead Magcargo against his Xatu. Specs AncientPower OHKO's.
-He brings out Slowbro, I switch to Meganium, set up Sunny Day and Solar Beam OHKO's.
-He brings out Exeggutor, Butterfree OHKO's with Bug Buzz
-He brings out Jynx, so I bring out Magcargo again, who OHKO's with specs Fire Blast.
-His last Xatu gave me a bunch of trouble, as everything was low on health. Eventually, Azumarill KO's with Rollout.
Koga
-Magcargo OHKO's Ariados, Venomoth and Forretress with specs Lava Plume. Why he sent them out in that order, I will never know.
-Onix takes out Muk with Dig eventually.
-Mantine takes out Crobat with Blizzard.
Bruno
-Lead with Mantine because I thought Onix was first. However, after a long battle of healing and quick attacks vs. wing attacks, Mantine prevails over Hitmontop.
-Hitmonlee is next and I get a lucky critical on a Wing Attack which takes him out.
-Hitmonchan takes out Mantine with Thunderpunch and I send out Magcargo, knowing he has no fighting moves. 2 specs lava plumes and Chan goes down.
-Onix comes out and is taken out by Meganium's SolarBeam
-Finally, Machamp is taken out by sleep hacking Butterfree, also using Psybeam.
Karen
-Lead with Butterfree against Umbreon. Put it asleep and 2HKO with Bug Buzz
-Houndoom comes out and I bring in Azumarill, who 2HKO's with Waterfall and surviving a NP boosted Dark Pulse.
-Vileplume comes in and is promptly taken down by Magcargo's Fire Blast.
-Gengar cursed himself to death, but took out Butterfree and Azumarill in the process.
-Murkrow is taken out by Mantine's Blizzard.
Lance
-The most I have ever actually thought for this battle, since my team isn't very good for Lance. I lead with Scarf Butterfree and put Gyarados to sleep, then switch in Azumarill. I use defense curl, then 2 X-Attacks, 2 X-Speeds and then use Rollout. It 2HKO's Gyarados as he futiley uses Dragon Pulse.
-Two Dragonites in a row are OHKO'd by Rollout.
-Aerodactyl outspeeds and KO's Azumarill with Thunder Fang. I bring in Meganium and use Reflect, then send in Magcargo to clean up with specs Ancient Power.
-His last Dragonite comes in and starts wrecking shit up with Outrage. I use a Max Revive on Azumarill and use an X-Defend, then Defense Curl 5 more times, knowing his last is Charizard. Rollout 3HKO's, but I get burned by Fire Blast and die at the same time as Nite.
-Charizard comes out and I Revive Mantine, who takes Dragon Claws like a beast and 2HKO's with Surf.
And my current team: BL Fighter the Meganium, 40
-Sunny Day
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Solar Beam
Really is losing its usefullness after evolving and having to be dual screens with solar beam. I may replace sunny day with something else as I go further in the game.
Definately one of the most useful members of my team. Is decently fast and has powerful attacks to abuse sleep. I will be replacing Psybeam with Dream Eater when I get the TM.
LVP SolidRock the Onix, 39
-Screech
-Rock Smash
-Secret Power
-Dig
Hard to use, especially against the Elite 4, since he can't have rock moves. Can't wait til I get that metal coat so I can finally evolve him. I will be teaching him Iron Tail then and probably some other more useful moves.
Magcargo, 42
-Lava Plume
-Fire Blast
-Ancient Power
-Recover
Was very hard to train, but was surprisingly useful against the Elite 4. Solo'd Falkner to evolve, and Bugsy. Specs moves in the E4 was very useful, though I will likely get rid of a fire move and definately recover when I can get something better in that slot.
Mantro the mantine, 42
-Surf
-Wing Attack
-Bounce
-Blizzard
Mantro was useful in the main game, not very much in the E4. Too slow to abuse Nite's with Blizzard. I will be replacing Wing Attack eventually with something better.
The power house of this team. I know what you're thinking, LOL DC+Rollout! But, I had a plan in the beginning when I got him, because I knew Lance (and Claire, who this also worked against) would be a problem with this team. That combo wrecked them so badly and I honestly don't know what I would've done without him.
Haven't updated in a very long time, so i guess now is an appropriate time after Sprocket''s AMAZING SWEEP of Cyrus in the Distortion world.
Since the last time i updated i was struggling to catch a skorupi tons of shit has happened.
Dexington, if you don't mind, i'm gonna follow your format :P
Team member restrictions
I give you Larvitar. It must be a traded Pokemon from a different game (no egg hatching for you). It must solo either Wake or Maylene while disobedient to evolve to Pupitar! named him sprocket. HE'S SHINY!!!!
take a Beldum called Steel Easy. Make sure it is an AgiliTang by the E4. Also, you must use it to solo at least one Gyarados, at any time during the course of the game.
catch a swablu and name it kamikaze. It may not evolve untill it koes one Candice's pokemon and itself with Perish song (meaning you must stay in and let it ko you and your opponent may not ko you before the turns are up or it doesnt count). It may not learn any tm or hm moves until it evolves. Optional: don't teach it sing and perish song at the same time
take a Bonsly (let me know if this is too rare to hunt for) It can evolve once it wastes a pokemon with a super effective move it obtains through mimic. It must keep Mimic forever. named him Rocky, who is my starter
Catch a Blue Shellos, and give it whatever nickname you wish to give it. It is forbidden from using Recover, or any HM moves that you teach it, in battle. named him flubber.
Update to where i am right now (TL;DR i trained alot and got to the distortion world)
So after spending what seemed to be days trying to catch Skorupi, i finally caught one! and it was adamant! and Female! oh how lolzy it was to call a female skorupi "Threadshot" xD i caught a Tropius and a Bibarel while in there as well, since together they can learn all 8 HMs.
Steel easy and Rocky destroyed most of the gym by themselves with their powerful thunderpunches and wood hammers, Flubber made some appearances against things like whiscash, after learning its HP was Grass (59 or something like that). total destruction ensued and giant tree hammers were smashed, but i came out with the Fen Badge :D
bomb went off, yadayadayada, got the secretpotion, yadayadayada
i traveled far and wide to help train Flubber and Threadshot, Flubber evolving into Gastrodon fairly quickly under the might of the fabled EXP.SHARE. eventually i made it to the moomoo cafe again, wherethe psyduck were cured and i caught the final member of the team, Kamikaze the Swablu. then was almost completely destroyed by the double battlers with the Raichu and Gyarados, but somehow made it to Celestic town.
The team went on Extreme training, by vs seeker battling all of the ace trainers along the foggy route, and after a hour or two Threadshot finally evolved into the all powerful Drapion, Flubber leveled a ton, and Swablu somehow made it to 43 (erratic exp gain FTW!!!). Rocky learned Double edge, Steel Easy became an agilitang, and sprocket sat out since he didnt really need any training.
stopped the crazy suicide bomber, beat Cyrus with Steel Easy's newfound speed boosting madness, and got Surf out of it!
went to canalave, Sprocket soloed my rival by getting +4 attack and speed, and then proceeded to destroy everything in sight (for some reason Staraptor never used CC). proceeded into the gym, where Flubber practically soloed everyone, including Byron. went down to iron island where i met up with riley, and hurried through the caves for free easy exp.
Went to Valor, Threadshot destroyed Saturn. Went to Verity and had Threadshot destroy Mars as well. then proceeded the long and harsh climb up to snowpoint.
along the way i rare candied Kamikaze to 50, where she finally learned Perish song! since rocky was not the strongest anymore, he led the assault on the gym, where rockslides took out pretty much everyone. Once i got to Candice, i tried to perish song/sleep Sneasel (her first poke) for Kamikaze's evo requirements, only to be shocked that the COM actually SWITCHED OUT :O lol. after learning my lesson i used kamikaze on her last poke, frosslass, only to be KOed by a Blizzard. Third time's the charm, and after letting Threadshot tank all of Frosslass's blizzards until it ran out of PP, perish song took both of them down.
went to acuity, A1 got owned, and then walked (yes i walked) back to veilstone since i wanted to pass by and get TM13 from the rock climb clift, as well as TM29 by Celestic town.
invaded the Veilstone base, Sprocket beat down everyone, unfortunately got owned by Sneasel since i stupidly thought that +1 would be enough to outspeed. Steel Easy came in and took care of the rest. got the master ball ^_^. healed up Sprocket and he went for revenge as he took out Saturn with ease.
Mt. Coronet was upon me, and Rocky knocked grunts aside like there was no tomorrow. Finally reached the summit after getting lost, and after some insane muddy water spam by Flubber, the Mars/Jupiter/Rival battle was over in a flash.
Descended into the depths of the swirling vortex of distortion, i ended up putting the strength rock into the wrong hole like twice, so that was a piss off. eventually i got to cyrus...
and cyrus was completely swept by a +3 Sprocket @ rawst berry, after Houndoom missed using WoW twice, hit the third time but was met with rawst berry, and then Sprocket fainted every poke cyrus had with rockslide. AWESOME :D i killed Giratina so i could come back to sendoff spring and catch it later when i actually had Pokeballs with me >___>
Current Team:
Rocky The Sudowoodo ♂ @rock incense
lvl 51 Serious Rock Head
~Rock Slide
~Mimic
~Wood Hammer
~Double Edge
A very reliable poke, been with me since the start. he's been able to take hits like a tank, then hit back like a nuke. Rock Head has been playing a huge role in the success of Rocky, otherwise i might have been going broke buying moomoo milk with the combined recoils of Double Edge and Wood Hammer.
Sprocket the SHINY Pupitar ♂ @Soft Sand
lvl 48 Careful Shed Skin
~Crunch
~Earthquake
~Rock Slide
~Dragon Dance
When something needs to be taken down, Sprocket is the one you look for. he needs two DDances to usually outspeed everything and destroy, but once he gets going there is literally nothing in the game that can stop him (bar maybe WonderTomb :P)
Steel Easy the Metang @Iron Plate
lvl 48 Quirky Clear Body
~EarthQuake
~Meteor MASH!
~Agility
~Thunder Punch
agilitang is a very very powerful force. not as powerful as Sprocket, but with only needing one turn to set up, it can sweep foes by itself time and time again.
Flubber the Shellos ♀ @Mystic Water
lvl 44 Mild, Storm Drain
~Ice Beam
~Mudbomb
~Muddy Water
~Hidden Power (Grass)
as my only water on the team she takes quite alot of crap from attackers. but she was like built to wall things with her gargantuan hp stat when compared to the other members, and does so oh so well. :D
Threadshot the Drapion ♀ @ Black glasses
lvl 49 Adamant, Battle Armor
~Crunch
~Bug Bite
~Ice Fang
~Poison Fang
Threadshot may very well be my MVP for this run. it is the fastest, and bulkiest poke currently on the team, and with battle armor negating any sort of hax that the COM's want to inflict, it is one lean mean fighting machine. heck even Steel Easy's EQs cant 2HKO Threadshot in double battles. that is pretty damn impressive.
Kamikaze the Altaria ♀ @Draco Plate
lvl 51 Quirky, Natural Cure
~Sing
~Dragon Pulse
~Roost
~Flamethrower
She hasn't earned her stripes yet, but probably will in the Victory road, and against Cynthia. I think i overhyped her usefullness to the team, but she is a Dragon after all, and anything that's dragon is an asset.
Well that's interesting...after putting in the pics i realized that my team is green or blue or purple. pretty cool.
@Puffinrock, you get a Water type team. Start with a Totodile named Croc. It may only know level up and tutor moves. No TM's, no HM's, and no egg moves.
Puffinrock, take a Lapras. It must know one non-attacking move, one special attack, one physical attack and another move of your choice. It may not have one water move and must have one ice move.
@Pokesephy-Get a Bidoof ASAP, and you must use the FIRST one you catch. It must have 2 stat upping moves at all times, and by level 45, they must be curse and amnesia. Good luck getting the right ability on your only try
* If trading is allowed, take a Squirtle or Piplup, your choice. No evolution for you either way! Trade it to your cart once you beat Bugsy (it can only have level up moves at the time you trade it, no higher than level 10). It must also solo Clair's Kingdra, Lt. Surge, Erika, and Red's Pikachu.
* If trading is not allowed, take a Krabby, name it RedLobster. You must teach it Guillotine at level 31, and it cannot learn any STAB moves. It cannot evolve until you KO one of Lance's Pokemon with Guillotine.
