damn... another competitive useless pokemon

it's nice to know that you think it's useless even though no stats were revealed and it's pretty obvious it has a berry abuse strategy going for it >.>

Besides, it was already revealed a long time ago it just got confirmed today :P

ok, we got no further information about it,but...

from what we've got from Gamefreak so far, no competitive pokemon looked so... well... you got it. Phantoms are the only exception, IIRC.

I think the monkey is awesome! It's interesting that they present a pokemon with an inherent berry strategy, but keep berries off the continent and only available in the online dreams.

Assuming it has gets reasonable stats upon final evolution, I'd definitely consider using it ingame. So far I've been pretty sold on Wotter (Mijumaru) and the Zebra (Shimama). And the Gator (Meguroku) too, now that I think about it. This monkey dude comes in and covers grass for my first team, which is pretty exciting. The Eagle (Wooguru) is a definite option as well.

Honestly, I know a lot of people compained a lot at the beginning, but for me this is definitely shaping up to be one of the most interesting generations of pokemon design and concept wise. So many of them fit what I really like about Pokemon design. It's easily already beaten my least favorite (Gen3).

So is grassmonkey the broccoli doll's second form?

Oh and what does its name mean?

"Yanagi" means "willow". So it's Yanagi + Ape, I guess.

EDIT -- lol it's willow, not hollow, brainfart here, sorry

And Yanappu IS the broccoli doll. Or at least this is what we're assuming here.

Why are people writing off the monkey already.
Because of Acrobat? Chances are a number of Pokemon will be getting new moves to take advantage of Triple battles, Acrobat is just being showcased by this little guy

who is awesome

Roserade,Ambipom,Togikiss, and A certain fat pink egg don't look very good now do they? Looks don't mean anything just look at Flygon he looks powerful but really isn't anything THAT special.

Super effective damage. And my bet's on Flying, with ~80 Base Power and a new TM that will be as widespread as U-Turn was in 4th Gen.
Oh man a widespread flying attack with that much power that isn't Fly or Sky Attack would be the bee's knees

...birds can be acrobatic right

edit: And doesn't, like, have recoil I mean.

Dunno about the bird part, but what I have in mind is Acrobat being more popular among non-Flying-types just like U-Turn was with non-Bug-types.

I didn't want to say this because people would be like
"Of course, just because they're both monkeys"

But yes, as soon as I saw it, I thought woah "Aipom"

I don't see it beyond them being monkeys

Maybe 80 bp when not holding an item. I can't see that being it's regular power though.

Perhaps 40bp, which doubles when not holding an item? Which would make it like Pursuit, but with different requirements.
