No, smugleaf is the most obnoxious, forced meme I've seen in a long while.
Not... really. I know you're dying to throw the term forced around like some Encyclopedia Dramatica writer, but Smugleaf isn't one. It spread because it was awesome, from the moment the starters were revealed. It wasn't some random guy trying to promote his 'hurr so funny epic XD win meme' by posting about it everywhere.

In other words, butthurt?

Edit: Hell, I just checked and even ED doesn't refer to him as a forced meme! That's gotta be a first.

Oh wow, ED has nothing to do with this, way to fail at insulting me. Smugleaf is not funny. Yes, it fits the definition of a forced meme perfectly. Continue to look like a jackass, plox.

others may find it funny

A forced meme is one that is pushed on by a single person or small group in an attempt to make it a meme. Smugleaf is not that.

What the fudge is that to the right of Tsutaja??

I dont know if anybody brought this up yet,but Hihidaruma is going to have an STAB'd overheat with no stat drop! If it's spA is anywhere over base 105 i vote it uber.

The stat drop is not an additional effect- it's part of the move. So Encourage is probably not preventing that from happening.

I believe the same goes for stuff like recoil and recharge.

Hey guys, does anyone remember if they showed the starter evolutions in the build-up for past generations? I remember someone saying Blaziken was randomly revealed before rse came out a while back, and I'm curious as to whether they may be revealed in this months Corocoro. I hope Ononokusu gets a proper reveal at least, along with Desukaan and Denchura.

Also, lol at anyone considering the mere possibility of Mamanbou not being a Luvdisc evo. It is just so blatantly and obviously related to it in every way (except different abilities I guess) that there is no way even GF would do something so ridiculous. There are multiple explanations for explaining it's apparent existence in the regional dex, such as it only being obtainable in the dream world, ala pikachu, only being found in the wild after the national dex is obtained, or being found in the wild normally but only being able to obtain Luvdisc by breeding it with an incense item that is only obtainable post national dex like wynaut.

And those trailers were awesome, especially showing off the legendaries signature moves, which I was hoping/predicting they would have (physical electric ftw). I still can't seem to decide between Reshiram or Zekrom, they're both so insanely badass.

They showed Wargle using Hyper Beam and Superpower in the trailer, as well as Hihidaruma using Superpower. A lot of people say that means nothing, but they are the only moves pokemon with Encourage used, and the moves other pokemon used in the trailer do not have recharge or stat drops. I am pretty sure it negates any and all effects.

Isn't Mamanbou already confirmed to be a Luvdisc evo? Anyways i think it will evolve form a water stone.

It seems I'm the only one who believes that Encourage is a balanced ability and that Mamambou is not a Luvdisc evolution.

Feels bad man. ):

i don't think so, game freak usually does not evolve pokemon in ways already avaible in earlier generations, this is most likely why leafeon evolved by the moss rock and not leaf stone.

Encourage removes secondary effects. Not guaranteed effects. For example, Zap Cannon will still give paralysis if used by an Encourage user. Thunderbolt wont. Giga Impact will still give a recharge turn. Body Slam won't give paralysis.

Seriously people. SECONDARY effects. It's anti-Serene Grace. If it's a guaranteed effect of the move like recoil/recharge/stat drops, it still WILL happen.

People, use a bloody brain for once.

Not confirmed, it wasn't said to be related to Luvdisc in the Corocoro it was revealed in. But it almost surely is, and it'll probably only available post-National Dex like Sinnoh's evolutions.

Aaaanyway, I don't understand people's problem with the fake Pokabu evolutions (besides herrrderrr Fire/Fighting again). It looked good to me, especially the first stage. I think sometimes people are too focused on a Pokemon looking specifically either "cool" or "cute"... I do hope it retains its quadrupedal-ness through its real evolutions, though. It's the first four-legged Fire starter, it'd be cool if it stayed that way.

The final evolution for Mijumaru was awful in my opinion though. It makes no sense. The second stage makes it seem like it's going to evolve into some warrior-like Pokemon and then it evolves into a sea monster with facial hair and a conch shell horn. I think that was what really gave it away as fake to me. I guess it would be okay as a standalone Pokemon but as a Mijumaru and Rakonosuke evo it doesn't look acceptable to me.

Tsutarja's final evo looked fantastic to me though. I wish it had limbs but the ivy designs on it looked really good and I like the aloof, regal look to it.

@Colonel Darren: I agree whole heartedly except for the part about things like Dynamicpunch and Zap Cannon's guaranteed secondary effects-- I'd bet those are ignored in exchange for an power boost, but I don't know how Shield Dust handles them, which would probably be a good way to guess how it works. I doubt either of the confirmed Encourage users will get either move anywho.

Colonel Darren, I don't get why you seem to be saying with 100% confidence that Encourage has that effect. The flavor text that we received was vague at best. For all we know, it could remove any and all secondary / guaranteed effects. If anything, I would say that it does remove Hyper Beam's charge turn and Superpower's stat drops. They have been showcasing Hyper Beam and Superpower on Wargle and Hihidaruma respectively; surely there is a reason behind this.

It's going to work the similarly to how Shield Dust works, stopping secondary effects that would affect the OTHER Pokemon. Moves that affect the user, even positively (Meteor Mash, Charge Beam, etc.) will probably keep their effects. It doesn't make any sense otherwise, especially given that some people (Bulbapedia included) have translated 'Encourage' as 'Brute Force'.

How do you know that though? There has been no official clarification. Anything you say is just your personal opinion. Brute Force doesn't really have a connotation that would make me assume one effect over another. People just need to stop saying things as if they were facts. The reality is, they aren't.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong , but after Wargle use Hyper Beam and Superpower the battle was interrupted to show something. This makes me think: It really blocks that effects?
