@Starter Abilities

I'm going to guess:

Bulbasaur - Herbivore
Charmander - Flash Fire
Squirtle - Water Absorb/"Funnel" = Water-type Flash Fire

My guess is all the starters are going to have some new ability thats the same for all starters, just different types. You know like how blaze and overgrowth are the same just different types. I also think these abilities will have something to do with triple battles.

How long do you guys think the playthrough of this game will take?
I usually try --and do-- to complete the game (the basic story at least) in under 48 hours, but from what I've seen and what I'm hoping, I could see myself taking about 60 hours, which is pretty sweet. It kinda sucks, though, that I'll complete the game in one season. I've said before, but I'll say it again: This could be the best Pokemon game to date and I'm so excited to play it. It really bums me out that I have to wait 6 months to play it.

My guess on new abilities (both by probability and taste) for old pokémons:

Venusaur Solar Power
Charizard Flash Fire
Blastoise Battle Armor
Meganium Natural Cure
Typhlosion Flame Body
Feraligatr Intimidate
Sceptile Super Luck
Blaziken Keen Eye (assuming it gets better)
Swampert Dry Skin/Sturdy (for Swampert it's hard to find one)
Torterra Solid Rock
Infernape Vital Spirit
Empoleon Swift Swim

Jolteon Static
Flareon Flash Fire
Vaporeon Hydration
Espeon Inner Focus
Umbreon Immunity
Leafeon Solar Power
Glaceon Ice Body

Articuno Snow Warning
Moltres Flame Body
Zapdos Volt Absorb
Dragonite Thick Fat
Mewtwo Intimidate
Mew Trace
Tyranitar Solid Rock
Suicune Water Absorb
Entei Intimidate
Raikou Static
Lugia Drizzle
Ho-oh Drought
Celebi Chrolophyl

Trace Mew would be so lol, but it actually makes sense in it.

Hmmm... did we know about that cat before that "John Glover" post? He listed a Pokemon called "Sebekuro". I wonder if that's the cat... And Yanappu hasn't been in a Corocoro yet. It's a little interesting that the guy remembered that...

I can't believe there are people who are still unsure whether or not Isshu was based on New York or Shanghai. I didn't care either way but according to Pokejungle, an official Pokemon magazine has a cover saying something along the lines of "The adventure is set in New York?". That doesn't leave much up to the imagination to me...

You found a great find, so I also consider that as a find.

Lol, for swampert, what about Thick Fat? Better then nothing I suppose.

Water Absorb would be nice, since Swampert has no other way of healing itself. Am I the only one who's suprised that Swampy can't learn Slack Off?

Well, I´m not surprised, seeing as Snorlax can´t learn it either. Or Dunsparce, he looks pretty sleepy too.

As for an ability for Swampert: Water Absorb would indeed be nice competitively, but it doesn´t make sense to me, flavour-wise. I´m for Dry Skin.

Well I thought it was lazy since it had a horrible speed stat. Quick check on Bulbapedia proved me wrong:

If it senses the approach of a storm and a tidal wave, it protects its seaside nest by piling up boulders. It swims as fast as a jet ski.

Haha if we do end up getting a dragon eveelution with 130sp Att and 110speed then it could spam choice Draco meteors, mimicking a certain physic dragon which got banned for doing just that, no pursuit weakness either!.

I see many people eagerly looking for it for Dragon Dances Baton Passes. I would prefer a special dragon sweeper, or an extremely defensive one with 130/110/95 in HP/D/SpD. Massively defensive dragon is original.

How so? It's neutral to fire and already 4x resists Ice.

The metagame has begun to revolve around the Fire/Water/Grass trio now that the top dragons are gone. Gaining a resistence to Fire and an increased resistance to Ice would aid it greatly in an unknown metagame. In would be the prefered ability reguardless of metagame unless you've got some weird offensive varient. Today's metagame doesn't offer a whole lot of use for it, with Heatran carrying Earth Power, Heatran carrying fighting moves, and Mamoswine carrying Earthquake. Potentially in the next metagame though it could be a really potent wall.
