Serebii and Psypokes both have incorrect maps for the floors (I should know, stupid Misdreavus). Your best way is to keep on trying in different maps.
Hey guys, I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong, because something baffling just happened to me.
I'm trying to get a Careful 31/31/31/7/31/31 Pupitar in Mt Silver (3rd Floor), so I hit my seed, advanced the frames, and promptly caught a Misdreavus with that same spread. The thing is, Misdreavus has encounter slots of 0 and 2, where Pupitar has an encounter slot of 6. Also, none of the frames near my target frame even has a Sweet Scent encounter slot of 0 or 2, so I don't see how I got a Misdreavus...
Any help is very welcome!
Edit: I just ran into a wild Sneasel as well, which means Serebii is lying to me. It says you can't get Sneasel on 3F, which means I'm either not on 3F or their encounter rates are wrong...
I'm just going to try again, but with a different frame, since Larvitar is on all parts of Mt Silver with encounter slots of 9 and 11. I have a frame with encounter slot 11, so I should be good. I'm just confused.
And the way to advance your frame is through the Journal correct?Only thing i can think of is that your not on your bike or your on the wrong floor or you right clicked the wrong frame :P
EDIT: @ Champloo: its actually easier than breeding because all you have to do is go in front of your legendary, save, then proceed to hit your target time then advance the frames. Wild catches are the same way except you sweet scent rather than talk to standing legendary. But make sure to calibrate how far your sweet scent advances the frames! You oonly have to do it once tho, because then it will stay constant for the rest of the time.
Its actually a lot easier. The difference is really that the frame is typically easier to control and the delays and frames tend to be higher. You don't have to hatch your egg to calibrate the frame which makes it a lot faster.
DPPt: You can advance the frame by journal flipping and walking. In an area with no wild pokemon, you can advance the frame by the number of pokemon in your party every 128steps. In an area with wild pokemon, advancing a step advances the RNG by 1 and turning advances the RNG by 1.
ID/SID combo produces Shiny + IVs. You don't need any specific combo to get a good IV non shiny capture.
Hiya all,
I've been trying to understand the use of RNG Reporter for IV capturing, and so far I have to say I'm pretty lost. I have a few simple questions that I would love to see answered.
First off, I've been doing my homework. I'm not posting here in the hope that you'll explain everything to me. Don't worry. I've mastered the PokéRadar hunting for shinies, and right after I found my SID I mastered shiny hatching w/ RNG Reporter.
Now, I'm lost when it comes to frames, methods and such. Basically, I want to capture a perfect Ditto. But since I like a scientific approach, I thought I'd try to capture any Pokémon with 31 IV in Sp.Att for a start.
I'm good with the calibration thing. Out of a dozen tries, I've managed once to reach the target seed. And when I failed, I only missed by a delay of 4. Which is OK, since I'm only trying to understand how it all works. So here is my problem : I don't get the link between methods, frames, and what I'm doing in the game. I understand how it should work, but I can't get it to do what I want.
Here is how I proceed :
- I'm lying in a grass patch. Nothing moves at all. There are no weather effects. No wandering NPC on the screen, maybe one a few dozen steps away but it's definitely now showing. The Poketch shows the coin flip app. I save the game.
- I turn off and on the console, set my time to 1 minute + seconds before the target seed, and launch the game.
- When the clock reaches the next minute I soft reset the game and tap A continuously.
- When I arrive in the game, I flip the coin 10 times and use the "Search Flips" utility to find where I just landed. Let's say I missed my target by 3 or 4 delays. Doesn't matter. I copy the seed to the clipboard, and I paste it in the field on the main RNG Reporter window.
- I select method J (platinum, target is any tall grass pokemon). My ID, SID and Seed are all good. I click "Generate".
If you're in DPPt, I think you should be frame zero and, yes, if you're not using a flash cart (some glitch if you shut the DS), you can close your DS and walk away from it, come back and RNG later. Or leave it open and plugged into a wall, but hope your cats don't walk on the screen (mine would).- Question 1 : am I still at frame 1 ? I mean, after loading my game, could I leave the console on, go outside for an hour, come back, and the game would still be at frame 1 ?
- Question 2 : does the coin flip make the frames advance ? Or could I flip 100 coins and still be at frame 1 ?
- Assuming I am still at frame 1, I open the menu, select my Oddish, and use Sweet Scent. A fight starts.
- Question 3 : does opening the menu, displaying the team and selecting a move make the frame advance ? Or could I open the menu, watch the entire Pokedex, close the menu, and still be at frame 1 ?
- Question 4 : I read in this topic that Sweet Scent made the frame advance by 6 in HGSS. Is it the same for Platinum ?
- A wild Roselia shows up. I capture it, and calculate its IVs. I match its nature and IVs to the RNG Reporter options in the main windows, and click on Generate. Now, I've done this twice (capturing a pokemon on the first try without it killing itself). The first time, the Pokemon I captured happened to be the one on frame 7. The second time, it was on frame 251. Err, when I say "first time" and "second time", I mean on separate tries. I don't try to capture several pokemon in a row in the same try, as it obviously advances the frame by a zillion.
- Question 5 : what the the tiny variables that made it advance to frame 7 ? If I'm not mistaken, there was 1 roaming pokemon in the world at that time.
- Question 6 : the second try happened a few minutes later. Beforehand, I decided to release all the roaming Pokemon I could. There were now 5 roaming pokemon in the world. Then why the hell did it advance all the way to frame 251 ?
I think that if you can answer all my questions then I'll be set. Thanks in advance :)
Can i use the red gyarqados respawned after e4 to determine my sid
If you release lugia after catched and beat e4 will it respawn

Did you walk in the grass? Walking and turning in the grass advances the frame for every step and turn.
Don't wandering NPC's anywhere on the route mess with the frames? It doesn't matter whether they're showing or not... I'm pretty new to RNG, so I could be wrong. Here is how I proceed :

I can t find my red gyarados's iv's i use iv calculator i wants ev's and i dont know my evs help pls
no prob catching alot of times but rng reporter wants ivs
On the off chance that someone still had an egg from the PokeCenter events (like WishBliss), would it be possible to RNG the IVs?? I doubt in the extreme that anyone does, but I am asking out of curiosity.
