DRAGONS
Is it true that the DSi features of B&W are region-locked?
The thing is, European Dragons are much different from what Smugleaf's supposed evo looks like...
Well.
The use of the games on DSi consoles is region locked. You can play them with normal nonjapanese DS/lite tough. That said, yes, the DSi Features are somewhat regionlocked, more accurately the whole game(for DSi)
Ken Sugimori, primary illustrator: I really struggled the most with the Water-type [starter] this time.
Yusuke Ohmura, illustrator: There was talk of, "Wouldn't a sea otter be good for the Water starter?" But it was a really close decision in terms of what this sea otter would become once it evolves. In the end, we decided to have it evolve into something with a completely different appearance.
can someone clear up something for me? does anyone know if emonga is a real pokemon or not? serebii said it was fake, but it's still on their new pokemon page...
... T_T I wonder what that means...
Sugimori: I worried about it for a while, and I eventually went to go see the sea otters at the aquarium. I happened to catch the sea lion show while I was there, and I became aware of the sea lion's power. "Well, let's try blending a sea otter and a sea lion," I thought. I came up with the idea of making the shell on Mijumaru's stomach into a sword (katana) and using it to fight, and that's how I completed Mijumaru and its evolution."
At first when all this stuff started about the starter evos in the back of my mind it was, Damn i can imagine gamefreak paying people to post of these fakes(some not all) and when we all complain and start waring over it. They go bam look at these awsome starters. Then everyone will be all happy and play the game hmm.

I don't see a shell which looks anything like a katana on it's chest, or for that matter, any shell at all. Sure, it has sort of drill like shell on the top, but it doesn't look anything like a katana and Sugimori mentions it being specificaly on it's chest... so yeah. (That's if that interview is real :P)
Those pictures aren't the same page. Firstly, where is the yellow XXXXXXXXXXXXXX border on the top of one of the pictures? Or even the words that were cut off?
I don't trust that translation either since you don't get a combined page with the two (they don't match up).

plus they look very gothic, gamefreak NEVER makes gothic pokemon.Exactly my thinking.
Also explains why the sprites and images are crap/terrible/faked/unrealistic/unpokemonesque and why they've been confirmed.
Also explains the fact that they were leaked during a dry news period.
4 chan is having a field with that fact that this may be true and Serebii being Wrong.I'm actually inclined to believe this guy. As much as I want it to be true, it's probably just something knocked up by a 4chan member who wants some recognition.
...
I'm currently researching legends about european snakes, but the rather obvious idea of a european dragon is there (and no in the starer evos.

The first legend that comes to MY mind is a folklore in Vienna. About the Basilisk(a snake-like creature with the head of a rooster and deadly poisonous breath). I can give you a (german) link: http://www.sagen.at/texte/sagen/oesterreich/wien/vonaltenhaeusern/basilisk.html, if that´s helping you.
And that helmet-shell-horn thing could be a katana in the official artwork. I guess. Maybe. Who knows.
