Nuzlocke Challenge

The hardness of the nuzlocke directly depends on how much you restrict yourself and the amount of grinding you find allowable.

Also how lucky you are with the pokemon you find is a factor. For example, a simple dustox/marshtomp combo could theoretically beat the first 5 gym leaders by themselves is an R/S nuzlocke.
 
I was lucky enough to find a Ralts before Brawly, for example. :B
And even then I took a break because I wasn't willing to get all five of my Pokemon to 18+ levels, ohwell. Still find it funny that my starter is the highest level when I use him the least.
 
Just started my Nuzlocke challenge in my Sapphire with a Torchic I nicknamed Kung Pao! :) Basic rule challenge. You can add me to the list of those currently taking the challenge. Caught my first pokemon on the route I haven't seen a pokemon and got a Wurmple I nicknamed Cuddles. Lets see what it evolves into!
 
@SOS: How? What would you define as areas? Besides that, there simply are not enough Pokemon to obtain. If possible, it would be insanely difficult.

Alright just got the 1st gym badge. Since my last update I caught a Zigzagoon on Route 104 and my Wurmple evolved into a Silcoon and then Beautifly! I got no more pokemon after that because on Route 116 I found another Zigzagoon. :/ I went to the gym after training and my Torchic evolving into a Combusken. I challenged the gym leader but lost Cuddles (Beautifly) when Absorb didn't OHKO her geodude and it killed Cuddles with Rock Throw! Now I am moving onto going towards the second gym. RIP Cuddles! :(

Toothache I believe was considering it, not sure if he actually tried or not but I remembered something being posted much, much earlier in the thread about it (feel free to go hunting if you're curious).

As a mini-update since I haven't actually made any game progress since the last one, I have my new 6th member (a Staryu named Courtney) and am about to grind it to par with the rest of the squad after enough Voltorb Flip to make a man want to send all Voltorb directly to hell (seriously, fuck that game). Ice Beam and Thunderbolt should be worth it though :)

Rediamond contacted me with the idea of trying to bring back some of the original organization of the Nuzlocke thread. Of course, we can't do anything with the OP, so this will be a stopgap solution for the time being. We'll put all the current challenges going on in this post, which I'll keep updated to the best of my ability. To (hopefully) prevent it from getting lost in the shuffle I'll be linking it everytime I make a post in the thread (may actually just put a link in my sig) so people can reference it quickly if they wish. Needless to say I'm missing a lot of challenges, but there are 78 pages in this thread, some challenges started on the last page, some challenges started 10 pages back, some challenges are still going and some were ditched halfway through. If you aren't already on this list and want to be, please PM me with a link to your first update and your last one (assuming it wasn't recent). I'll do a bit of digging for the most recent challenges but I'd rather not have to go back a bunch of pages to find everyone's rules/games/etc. Also, when making new updates try to link your old updates in the new one; that way I can just post the last update and people can go back to the old ones without digging through the thread or me putting ~10 links per challenge. Finally, I'll be sure to update this post with any new challenges that begin!

This is awesome! It makes me want to do an update. Unfortunately, that's not happening. Hopefully getting one up in two weeks or so (or less if I get lucky!)
 
I finally got a small site to handle distribution of chapters and other things up. It is here. Updates will still be posted on Smogon, and it will still be the base of the project, but this site will be used for management and distribution purposes.

At the moment I've beaten 7 gyms an defended the lakes. Preparing to climb mt coronet.

Does anyone think it's worth training the Riolu or Gible to replace anything on my team?
I realize at the moment I've got 3 poisons and a fighting (major psychic weakness)
 
Well... I see you getting destroyed by Lucian, but I'm not sure how much Gabite or Lucario could help with that. Cyrus won't give you much trouble, so I would just climb the mountain, and maybe replace anything that dies. Beyond that, I haven't Nuzlocked Platinum yet, so I really don't know.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't notice you were doing Pearl. I forget what Cyrus has in that game, but if I remember somewhat correctly, that could go very badly right now. Training Riolu might not be a bad idea.

Cyrus should have a lv45 Honhkrow, lv46 Crobat, lv45 gyarados and a lv48 weavile.
I was thinking of replacing the Machamp with lucario as it would remove the psychic weakness.

Unfortunately I've had no chance to catch a dark pokemon which would be great for switch ins.

If I find that the psychic weakness gets too tough I'll replace tentacruel with either gastrodon or whiscash, keep the water, but gain an electric immunity.

I may need to grind a little before climbing the mountain.
 
Every single time I start one I end up never finishing it but, I think this playthrough of Platinum will do the trick.

The name's Silver. I live in a small town in the Sinnoh region, called Twinleaf Town. I wanna be a Pokemon trainer so fuckin' bad...screw being a billonaire, too much attention. One day, my legend finally begins...

"There isn't shit on! 649 channels and STILL NOTHING," I think to myself. I finally find something, some small segment about some Professor talking about Pokemon. Must be Rowan.

I get up to get something to eat, when suddenly some idio- I mean my "friend", Neo barges in my room uninvited. Sigh, what does he want?

"ZOMG POKEMON LET'S GET SOME!"

"Calm down, Neo."

"CAN'T, ONNNNNNNNNN SPEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sigh, more rehab in his future, I can tell you now.

"COMPUTER, MUST MEAN PORN!"

"No....maybe."

"COME WITH ME, ELSE I FINE YOU!!!!!!!"

Neo was always the type of person who takes pleasure in being an idiot. That and always impatient. I follow him outside, where there's FUCKING SNO- Oh wait, I knew that already.

CHAPTER 1: I HATE YOU HOOTHOOT
I began my adventure like anyother going to the Prof's house to get my poke i pick my adorable cyndaquil and named him Troy. We left town with a chip on our shoulders and a kick in our step (even though we were on a delivey quest). YADAYADAYADA a encounter less trip later i was on my way home and I was ambushed by a raging ginger he attacked me with his baby croc who Troy easily dispatched. When i returned to the lab I was confronted by a police officer and i told him I met an evil ginger named AERO and he was off just like that. The rest was uneventful i got my pokeballs and I headed out. I found a hoothoot who I added to my team and was then ambushed by a demented hoothoot. It appeared harmless but that was a rouse it quickly double crited me to one hp, but troy is a trooper and we continued on

I'll make an actual update eventually, but I have a little story to tell about my FireRed run.

I was on route 18, minding my own Species-Clause business and hoping for a Fearow. The first Pokemon I find: Rattata. I just walked around in the grass after this, not looking at the screen. What do I hear?

RATTATA
*bling*

Yes, I found a shiny Rattata on my Nuzlocke run. Did I catch it? Heck yes. Am I using it? No, don't want it to die.

Now to the actual topic of the thread, lol.
I finished the run now.

It was... Painful. Expecially since the first Pokemon I caught (wild Sentret) was shiny, I was terrified that it would faint, lol.

Anyway, yeah. The elite 4 was obviously a huge pain in the ass.
Normally, I'd go into more detail, but I'm somewhat tired atm.
HeartGold, with Totodile as my starter.
