The Manga Thread

Hello, Smogon. Welcome to the manga thread. Here, you can post about mangas you have been reading lately. Well....

Go for it.

FirestormEdit: Put any spoilers in hide tags with the title of the comic and the chapter. For example, [ hide=One Piece, Chapter 2 ]Coby is a whiny bitch.[ /hide ] without spaces would be:

Coby is a whiny bitch.

If you'd like to go in-depth into a series without spoiler tags, create a new thread for that particular series.

Apologies for the double post, didn't want to clutter the OP. Might as well start this off.

Although it's fairly well-known, Kenichi is pretty great and has some truly epic battle sequences.

Whistle! is another one of my all-time favorites. And before you start blabbing about it being a 'soccer manga that only soccer nerds would like', I personally hate soccer.

Getbackers, Busou Renkin, Kekkaishi, Defense Devil, Yureka, Liar's Game. Not sure how popular these are.
I lost my bookmarks for the good shoujos I have.
I liked Prince of Tennis and Eyeshield 21 in sports.
Kenichi is awesome, but it's getting drawn out like the other popular shounens.

Busou Renkin is fantastic! The main characters were a bit typical, which is kind of sad, but the amount of personality in other characters (like Papillon) made it completely worthwhile. The plot was pretty neat too, and at only... what, 27 episodes it really didn't overstay it's welcome at all. Short and sweet like a good anime should be.

It also happens to be a great manga, because despite some overstreching in some mangas, it's pretty cool to see a good plot/characters have more story. Also, if you think short and sweet is good, there's always Haruhi Suzumiya S1. Because S2 sucked ass. Like the Da Vinci Code...only more boring and with a less satisfying ending.

EDIT: With Liar's Game, it's also really fun to see if you can predict the outcome. The musical chairs arc got me with the ending. Did not see that one coming.

Err, I read the some of the main Jump! ones, but I find Bakuman to be my favorite right now, it's definitely worth a read.

As for not Jump!, Liar Game! Man, Liar Game is this gem for anyone who liked Death Note. It's one psychological twist after the other after the other. If you don't read it carefully or attentively, you are going to miss out on different elements that'll make the different twists less amazing. Regardless, if you liked Death Note's style of random psychological twists, I'd say Liar Game blows those out of the water.

Sorry, if someone's allowed to discuss one comic they like then you're an elitist dick to say that other people can't.

Bleach has been going downhill for a while anyway, excessive amounts of disposable bad guys, a final fight that was basically a bad attempt at DBZ's battle on Namek, etc. etc.

One Piece is great on the other hand, I haven't read as much as I should but the humor, plot and everything is fantastic. The characters are all so well developed and Oda really takes his time to make sure everything works.

Naruto's quality is shakier than Michael J. Fox, but it's occasionally good enough that it's kept me reading from the start.

Bleach never was able to top the original soul society arc so it's basically been going downhill ever since that point but whatever I still enjoy it

Edited the OP a bit, basically you can talk about popular mangas but don't just say 'bleach is so great.'

Personally I'm sort of happy I did that because I'm a big Naruto fan myself. Agreeing that its quality fluctuates between terrible and amazing, but the current arc is quite good.

(Summaries are inside the hide tags)
Toride has always loved his cute classmate, Ayase. Due to an accident, Toride's spirit went to Ayase's penis, a weird couple then was made ^^' They both have feelings for each others, but is it really a blissful thing for a relationship such as this? The accident not only changed Toride and Ayase's life, but also Iwabuchi- the emotionless, and Kamiya- the playboy? Unlike Toride and Ayase's situation, Iwabuchi and Kamiya have their penis switched, and their penis can talk?
I know you're probably reading the summary and going "how could i ever like this?? O.o" but just trust me and give it a shot. The character development between Toride and Ayase is simply magnificent and it feels like there is always a shocking twist that will keep your eyes glued to the chapters. Unfortunately there are only 7 chapters on mangafox right now but hopefully more come out soon ^.^

Certain people have evolved from animals other than monkeys, and they can sense each other’s animal souls! Filled with love, romance, and even male pregnancy (?!?!), this boys’ love series is too crazy to be believed...which is why you’ll keep coming back for more!
Nope, not talking about the punk band here >.> Anyways, I started off not liking Shiro very much, but he kinda grew on me chapter after chapter and now he's my favourite character :3 You can't read this one on Mangafox though, but a quick google search should give you a solid site to read it (it worked for me)

When I talk about ‘warped manga from a warping mind’, I’m thinking about this kind of incoherent story. ‘The Human Clock’ is a lot simpler to explain. The hero is Yubi Chizuo again. He’s a student like before, but this time round he’s a dropout. He stays in his house, which is a family shop selling watches and clocks. He gazes and gazes at the clocks. Little by little, he turns into a clock. That is the entire story. It reminds me of Kafka’s Metamorphosis.
This is a short manga (only 5 chapters ;.;) but also probably my favourite out of the ones I'm listing. The art style is really avant-garde but most manga and anime fans I've talked to about Human Clock can appreciate it and agree that it fits with the story :-D

I don't even like Bleach, chill out dude >> I think it's sort of unreasonable to create a catch-all Manga topic and expect people not to talk about popular Mangas.

There needs to be a sarcasm button.

All kidding aside, I edited the OP. You can talk about popular mangas as long as you contribute to the discussion/thread.

quit being a dick smashlloyd

you are never gonna be a good thread maker unless you let people go with the flow and talk about what animes they want to talk about

then dont come into this off topic forum and make rules for everybody else, especially someone as inexperienced in smogon culture as yourself

I have the freedom to talk about anything whenever I feel like it, dont try to tell me how to post

Fine, go ahead. What did you eat for lunch yesterday?

Battle Royale has to be the manga that moved me the most.. its kinda sad to read (because of the seriously depressing plot), but I loved every moment of it.

Death Note, Doubt, and Tenjou Tenge are my other favourite completed mangas.

Currently, I'm only reading the major three + Deadman Wonderland, Judge, and Mirai Nikki. Special mention goes to Kuroshitsuji which is my favourite one by far.
