Chandelure

Hmm MAYBE. But not many carry Stone Edge. Most have Protect, a Stat up move, and then a fighting and fire attack.
Protect is a really situational choice in general, and if Blaziken is running both that and SD, then it has more problems than just Shandera. I doubt you'll be seeing many Blaziken without a coverage move in the higher ranks.

A large majority have Protect though. An immense majority. The ones that don't often get out run which isn't good for something with those defenses.

Its always:

High Jump Kick
Fire Move
Protect
Swords Dance

Swords Dance is often exchanged for another move. Thats what I run into every time. I'm not saying its the best or even a good move set. I'm saying its all I see. No joke.

In other news I fought 2 Chandelure with Snorlax on PO a few minutes ago. Owned em. Even at 40% HP he survived a Fire Blast with 11% to spare. And it was a critical hit. Hes not good news for the chandelier. But Crunch was a tad more effective on him because Pursuit was only worth it against Chandy. Crunch was more versatile. So if he ever gets real popular don't be TOO weary of Pursuit as I found Crunch superior.

^Oddly, my life orb fire blast is always a 2ko, so you must have fought the rare Chandelures with no special attack investment. Blaziken with 2 set up moves usually sucks ass as it's walled by a lot of stuff.

edit: disregard me, i swear i thought you were talking about blaziken, not snorlax

I was under the impression that most Blaziken run either Protect or Swords Dance, not both.

I've fought a few that use both, but they seem to be the exception, not the rule. Which means most have an open moveslot for either Stone Edge or Shadow Claw.

Eh is there any actual reason to use Heat Wave? It seems to be a decent option for a stronger Flamethrower, since I hate Fire Blast's PP. And since Im using a sweeper Chandelure, Overheat isn't too much of an option.

What about Choice SCARF Tyranitar? Not all Chandelure use Scarf, so if they don't, they're automatically screwed. If the Chnady uses HP Fighting (with Scarf) then it's setup fodder for something like Garchomp. If no scarf, Tyranitar takes some damage and kills the chandelier. Also, you'll have team preview, so you will be able to predict a Chandy switch (if the opponent out-predicts you, then they played better).

Why use something with 10 less accuracy for only 5 more power? It's essentially not worth it at all, and won't net you any KOs at all - it'll just miss occasionally.

Well in general if I use Chandelure I run Sub if not scarf, letting you scout for TTar switchins and either get out safely or try to OHKO it (scouting for Lefties if you have SR up). That's the only way i feel safe using it tbh, given it's slow speed.

I can't see why you'd ever use Heat Wave over Flamethrower outside of Doubles. 5 more base power for 10% less accuracy?

Or Earthquake.
Blaziken could use Earthquake, but it never should. Stone Edge hits most of the same things, and Fire/Fighting/Rock gets perfect neutral coverage, while Earthquake is useless against Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate, several of which resist Blaziken's STABs.

Off the top of my head, Gyarados, Dragonite, Salamence, and Lati@s all resist Fire/Fighting/Ground, and Earthquake doesn't hit anything important that I can think of.

Therefore, Chandalure only has to worry about two competitively-good moves. Which is pretty good, considering it can get a free Substitute in front of it.

I'm just saying I've seen Blaziken with Earthquake, so Chnadelure should watch out for that, too (but EQ is less common than even Protect+SD).

If Chandy's a worry, stick to Stone Edge, since it compliments HJK with nice coverage. There isn't any real reason to use Earthquake on Blaziken since resisted HJK hits harder than neutral EQ.

Haha Thanks. Im still getting the hang of this Forum thingy.
I was thinking that tooo at first it looses the steel nature then gains the fatty weight and sp att or genar and heatran haha

- More bulk than Gengar, but less speed
- Slightly more speed than Heatran, but less bulk
- More power than both Heatran and Gengar
- Both Gengar's Ghost typing, Heatran's Fire typing, and Heatran's Flash Fire
- The only one of these 3 pokemon to get actual set up moves like CM

Too bad it's barely used :/

I was using a gimmick team(and forgot to change to DW, and therefore fell on Standard...oh well) and fought this guy using Chandy.
I baton passed 2 Shell Smashes with Smeargle to my own Chandy and got OHKO'd by a LO Psychic.
I was blown away by the fact that he even ran Psychic on Chandy, even worse, he was using a LO with it.
I then sent out Scrafty to set up a DD and was met by a Toxic coming from the same Chandelure.

Wtf are people running these days?

-Psychic
-Toxic
-Fire move
-Shadow Ball

Along with Modest natures and Life Orbs?
Wtf
