Hydreigon

I actually got a question about Hydreigon: How do you chainbreed the move Dark Pulse on him? Serebii isn't helping me. I also got a timit deino and he already has the EV's : 100SpAtk/252 Spd, without the dark pulse
A good set for that? expert belt maybe? Or usage in VGC?

As I found out in the Simple Questions topic, you gotta get an Ekans/Arbok in SoulSilver and slap the Dark Pulse TM on him, then transfer to B/W.

Ok. thanks i'll use Arbok. I think i'm gonna start over with ev trainnig and breeding to get a better nature. mixed hydra or expert belt u-turn or sth else?

I'm sure it's been asked 1,000 times by now, but is Modest the recommend nature for Hydreigon? I finally got one today with Dark Pulse and it has that nature. I also gave it Draco Meteor and Fire Blast.

Sometimes, you might want to go with Timid on Hydreigon because it lets it outspeed neutral base 100s. Modest is viable on Hydreigon because of the Special Attack boost.

Notable pokemon you can outspeed when Timid and them using a positive nature.

Haxorus, Lucario, Roserade, Rotom, Krookodile(common scarf), Kyurem, Darmanitan(common scarf), Excadrill out of the sand, Heracross(common scarf), Kingdra.

Three of them commonly wear scarfs, meaning they can be taken out of the equation.
I did mention Heracross mostly because both of his STABs are super effective, the rest are mostly just common pokemon out of personal experience.

If you ask me, I'm not sure if it's worth giving up the power boost from Modest, especially since many of them have some way of bypassing your speed advantage, either by priority or commonly used speed boosts.

Timid is still fair game, but I still prefer Modest LO/Specs Hydreigon for my personal use.

Hydreigon
Timid @ Life Orb
4 HP/252 SpA/252 Sp
-Surf
-Dark Pulse
-Draco Meteor
-Flamethrower

I find this set to be one of his best due to JUST out speeding some of his big threats and the absolutely great coverage it provides. STAB LO Draco Meteor is devastating

This is my reasoning as well, since I run Modest with some HP to capitalize on its decent bulk.

Lucario: Does not really run +Spe ever anymore since all of its sets run priority or Agility. And since Gliscor are slow nowadays, there is even less reason to worry about it - Modest with enough for 280 is all Hydreigon needs.

Haxorus: Not seen enough to merit consideration, IMO, but I guess you could consider it. Point for Timid.

Roserade: Can't really do anything to Hydreigon regardless.

Rotom: Wash form is either a slow bulkier variant or runs Scarf, so Modest is better.

Darmanitan: Point for Timid, though it likes Scarf as well.

Krookodile: Doesn't have the coverage options to deal with Hydreigon and runs Scarf anyway.

Excadrill: Unseen outside of sand.

Kingdra: Anyone using Kindgra will have rain up, so it is a bit of a moot point.

Heracross: I can't remember the last time I saw one of these, and even then the only sets that run Jolly are running Scarf. Then Gliscor is the best check for it in the game so it is easy to handle.

64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe is the way to go. Maximum power, all the speed you need, and the HP let's it take things like Conkeldurrs +1 Mach Punch.

Thanks, both of you.

I've been thinking of running a special set with Earth Power/Fire Move/Dragon Move, though I can't decide on the last move, though I've been thinking Outrage to take out Blissey. Any suggestions?

Well, DM is an option. You have 2 moveslots left so DM and outrage could go together. If you don't like the 2- SpAtk, go with dragon pulse and Outrage

To be honest, I see little use in Earth Power. Fire Blast/Flamethrower covers the steels that resist Draco Meteor, and Earth Power runs into problems with fliers, levitators, but most notably Air Ballooners, such as Heatran, which walls the other two moves. However, you have Surf or Focus Blast as options other than Earth Power to hit Heatran, and Surf is the most reliable of the three having better coverage like hitting Tyranitar, Scizor, and others, without having the pressure of predicting the exact coverage move, or worrying about immunities or missing. I wouldn't run Outrage on it due to getting locked, and it requires that you invest in its lower (although decent) attack stat, and if it's just for Blissey, Taunt does that much better, so I'd run that. Then you can fully invest into your special attack. ^_^

You summed it up nicely.

Can i replace Taunt by Torment, to prevent some nuisance from using its strong move continuously? Cuz it's not a good thing to force them to attack in 3 turns, isnt it?

Comparing simmilar dragon to latios that is mostly outclassed by latios to overall best mixed dragon and overall best Physical dragon huh ?

Their role is diffenrent but generally the latter is better despite mence's SR weak and Chomp spike vulnerability

It is well understood that Chomp has the best capability among all the pseudo-legendaries, and no doubt one of best physical attackers in this metagame. Also, if I am not wrong, Salamence wasn't as good during the 4th gen with new threats introduced in this metagame. Frankly speaking i think Hydreigon is just a more defensive Salemence with lower attack and speed. it's typing ability is good to give it some nice resistance and to avoid spikes , but with trollish speed and not good enough sp.a and attack, salamence can pull it off better.

THATS where youre (in my retarded opinion) Wrong

TTar is the freakin best pseudo legendary evahhhhhhhh. He summon a freakin sandstorm, can survive mewtwo's aura sphere and has freakin every move in the entire universe !!!!

Joking aside`well tbh my experience in gen 5 show that 15 attack point isnt that much different(shown by ononokusu chomp comparison)Mence isnt as good since he can be outsped with DD and outsped by every other common dragon bar saz.
Mence is worse when it come on DM spam since saz can still be used than lati in right situation but mence is better mixed beast.

But IF i AM serious, i must say mence is still great. Its just underutilized and underatted this meta. But The risk on using wrong move increase since poke that outspeed you increase in number and some of them is crazy big threats namely
Terakion, Virizion, and Landlos, Voltlos, Torneros Basicaly

Terakion : Take garchomp. Give it a worse typing and worse movepool. Increase its speed. Balance it defense. Decrease SpA and round him to become perfect pokemon. Make it the only pokemon in the game that can double dance alongside Groudon and Landlos. gave it a superb STAB. You get Terakion.

Virizion : CM set is to be taken seriously. When your not boosted, it can come at you and blew you with HP ice. Simple.

Landlos : Take Garchomp. Gave it absurdly powerful attacking power. Make it able to go mixed.
Gave Rock Polish. Change its typing to Flying. Lower its speed by a freakin 1 to make it trolled by garchomp You get Landlos Leader of Troll Trio

Torneros Voltlos : Offensive beats with 125 SpA and 115 attack and not so bad defenses and 110 + 1 speed. Become crazy in rain
Yeah Troll Trio indeed
