Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

-Random thoughts about the Relic Castle in hide tags.
In past games, the ruins have been located in places suited for human settlement. Ruins of Alph has ponds, and Solaceon Ruins are near a river (Adv Regi chambers, despite being called ruins iirc, are really just caves for the Regis, and the Sinjoh Ruins will be discounted for now.). But the Relic Castle? Smack dab in the middle of nowhere with no drinkable water in sight. Why would humans build a society in the middle of the desert with no water but the ocean nearby?

My theory is this: The area around the Relic Castle was once a habited region with many, if not all, of the necessities that humans need, and was connected with the Dragonspiral Tower to the north (with the presence of Golett there...). The people were advanced (seeing as they had Sygilyph and the Golett line to aid them) and worshipped a sun god (Volcarona). But in some Atlantis-type scenario, the people angered their god in some way and Volcarona came and destroyed the place (Heat Wave off of 135 Sp.Atk is damn strong.), leaving pretty much nothing behind.
This actually is plausible because
the terrain in the desert is has many indentations that could have been streams or a river at one point. I realize sand does move and tends to accumulate in dunes, but still there is solid ground at one level of the desert with greater depressions below.

I think FRLG perhaps feel like the longest. RBY already had some quite maze-like areas, like Viridian Forest, Mt Moon, and Rock Tunnel. FRLG then made some rather bigger, and added the Sevii islands.

I have to agree there.

BW had some of the shortest dungeons ever. I feel like they tried to 'extend' them by increasing the encounter rate to infuriatingly high levels too. :/

I dunno how everyone discounts GSC, unless you're counting all of Kanto as post-game...I guess it technically is, but it always feels like a main part to me.

It pretty much is Main Game Part 2
If you look at the game, it's easy to see it was designed with it in mind.

The real thing for debate would probably be if Post-game starts after Blue (which would include Gym rematches, Mt. Silver, Red and a few other goodies) or Red (a new starter!!!)

Well, original GSC Kanto was cramped. And also, there was very little plot, and very little direction in terms of where to go first, which gave it the feel of a post-game.

There's someone, I don't remember exactly where, who asks you if the first Pokémon in your party is your favourite. I remember she's early on, so you probably had a Simipour and that ended up on your card.
Thanks. I found her. She's in Castelia City's pokemon center.

A tale of two Volcarona:

Larvesta - #636 (Bold) : 31 / 4 / 31 / 16 / 31 / 31
Larvesta - #636 (Bold) : 31 / 7 / 31 / 31 / 25 / 27

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Decisions like these will drive me nuts. Do I take flawless defenses and speed with average special attack, or flawless special attack with incredible defenses and speed? I'm guessing #2 is the easy pick here but those four 31s up there are really attractive.

With the second one, you'll lose speed ties with other neutral Base 100s (potentially a LOT of Pokemon), and speed tie with neutral Hydreigon. You'll also fail to beat +Natured Base 86 (Rotom forms) and will tie with +Nature Base 85s (quite a few things). So I might be inclined to take the first. On the other hand, it's quite a drop in SpAtk, that might lose some OHKOs.

pick one; speed is the most valuable IV (followed by HP (for SR # and subs))

You'll do 96% of 31 IV damage anyway; that's good enough.

(for the hell of it, confusion will also hit less lol)

Shiny Deino in victory road peoplez! Sadly, it's Quirky, but I don't really care. Shinay!

Also, does beating the Elite-4 make your game-specific Genie go back to the house so that you can get a different nature? Mine was Bashful....which was ewww, so I was wondering if I could change it in anyway.

Yes, I believe it does.

Ghetsis' Hydreigon is absolutely ridiculous. You definitely see a huge improvement on the previous AI with that beast and its great movepool.

It gets worse. I caught a Shiny Mild Karrablast.

I have something equally as bad as that: a shiny Naive Gothita.

Well, you could run, like, a Choice Scarf set with 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe. Run a set consisting of Thunderbolt / Psychic / Hidden Power Ice / Toxic. It reaches an awesome 376 speed, outspeeding Latios, Latias, Gengar, Starmie, and Alakazam. Perhaps a little weak on the offensive side, but perfectly viable in NU where it belongs.

But Naive lowers Gothitelle's best stat. D: I'm also not sure if it has the right Hidden Power type.

I have one to top all of those: a shiny TIMID Krokorok with a 0 Spe IV >.>

Show me Modest, then we'll talk. :p

But to get things back on topic, will a Synchronizer affect Thundurus' nature when I confront him at the house? Like, if I had a Timid syncher, would it make him Timid?

I think so, in my opinion. I used a Timid Synchronizer when I was catching the event Latias in Soulsilver.

So a random question here...is the stupid subway boss anywhere in the super singles? I have yet to see him, up to 28 straight wins, so if he was supposed to appear at 21, he missed his subway.

On the genie topic: They don't respawn by the house. They start roaming straight away, so a synchroniser won't help. The event Latias someone mentioned was a stationary legendary.

On the shiny topic: Brave Reckless Basculin (blue) as the first thing I fished up.
