Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

I'm thinking of raising a Deino that's modest with decent IV's but I kinda wanted dark pulse on it. Would dark pulse be a good move for coverage and stab or should I drop it for another move like Surf or U-turn.

Dark Pulse is an excellent move on it because it allows you to beat Jellicent, Reuniclus and a few other common pokemon that you couldn't normally defeat. It's a royal pain in the ass to get though; you need to raise a male Arbok in heart gold or soul silver and use the dark pulse TM on it, then transfer it to black or white.

I'm assuming that the longer it takes you to reach White Forest, the less pokemon there will be (and I think it is a maximum of 5 if you haven't used Entralink to get to Black City).

If you don't speak to the NPCs found there, their hidden value gradually decreases by a set amount. Once this amount hits 0, they leave and you can no longer find the pokemon linked to them, reducing your grass. This is the reason why changing the clock empties the forest, and the only way to fix this is by going to Black City.

Also, where is the IV checker? I've found the Hidden Power guy already, at least.

Hydreigon is also pretty quick compared to the pokemon of this gen, so you can nab the flinch chance. I currently have my in-game Hydreigon with Dark Pulse / Surf / Fire Blast / Draco Meteor and it works perfectly. Being able to take out 2 of the 4 Elites its always nice.

Alternatively, you could run Crunch. It gets a Hustle boost until it evolves, and hits said ghosts and psychics on their weaker defensive stats.

EDIT2: I've now played through the game with all the starters, and I have to say that Samurott worked best for me. Maybe its because it shines compared to the other Unova waters (while Emboar has stiff competition from Darmanitan and other fire-types), but its mix of power and decent bulk helped me out quite a bit. Emboar comes in second with good power, but its low speed and relative frailty were a bit of a let down. Serperior is horrible, period. Such a disappointment following Sceptile and Torterra as far as grass starters go.

Next game, I'm trading in eggs and doing a run-through with some of my favorites. Hoenn trio, Zoroark, Lucario, and Salamence. Should be fun. Hopefully the DW maintenance going on right now will fix the issue I'm having, too.

agreed.

tbh i think reuniclus is crap...i havent used it much but everytime i fight them they faint SOOOO easy,i guess my oppenets either suck or reuniclus isnt as bulky as i originally thought. jellicent on the other hand is amazing, its decently powerful with toxic hex and scald as well.

...shiny afro buffalo yay!

I personally run Dark Pulse/Taunt/Fire Blast/Draco Meteor. I didn't have taunt until someone (I think it was Lee) posted a stallbreaker set, and after I tried it i found it to be amazing.

The IV guy is the first guy you see when you enter the battle subway in Nimbasa city.

Your opponents are idiots, as are mine (unfortunately). Nobody seems to realize that Scizor can OHKO it at 75% lol

But it does have its uses; people are just really bad when it comes to playing it...

Apparently you can only catch Landorus if you have the Tornadus/Thunderus under your OT... FUCK

Also, Adamant Intimidate male 31/31/31/14/22/13 Shinx. But now I need a fourth move.

speaking of scizor, i dont see alot of them anymore. such a lovely world we live in ^_^. im reallly sick of weather (sandstorm) teams they all use the exact same pokemon and its annoying, the only people i see using them a r japenese females and i think its a bit weird.

wait...what thread am I in?

nope, you just need a thundurus and a tornadus. doesn't matter where the hell they come from, you just need one of each.

(on a side note, how would you have them on the same ot if you can't catch both in one game? use common sense)

Zorua - #570 (Naive) Male (♂) : 9 / 31 / 30 / 29 / 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 / 31

Zoroark didn't live up to my expectations, but it's still a really cool pokemon and this is a solid one I think. The mixed attacker is what I found to be the most effective due to Sucker Punch letting it kill Gengar, Latias etc. Luckily, I already had a great Absol from Gen IV (which is why it's confusing that it took me over a week to hatch this). It's paper thin to begin with so the low HP doesn't bother me, especially with its speed and offenses being nearly flawless.

Also, when did metalkid's calculator add gender to the results? Does gender have any effect on the IVs?

Nice Zorua! I really wouldn't be concerned about its defenses either when you've got perfect speed and great offenses.

Bulbapedia's kind of confusing on the matter, but I don't think gender affects IVs.

I didn't fiddle with the clock, and I didn't take THAT long to get to the forest. I bought the game march 26th, finished it like two weeks ago or so and soon after finishing went to the forest, and no grass whatsoever. I

Yeah I'm also having problems with the White Forest, I got there in some two weeks and did not touch the clock once, but when I did get there it was empty! No trainers or grass!

Well some gamefaqs players say you need to beat the elite four within a week if want the grass/buildings to be there.

That seems a bit harsh; a fair few kids would play the game slowly, taking their time to explore all the places. I don't think that would be the case.

I doubt it's intentional.

I'm guessing that while they DO initially stock White Forest with pokemon, they start the time counter for inactivity, which removes things if you don't touch the place for long enough, as soon as you start the game. That would be safer than starting it only after you beat the Elite 4, since you could have massive glitches if they did that and you somehow got into White Forest before the Elite Four.

At the same time, though, they end up hurting people who go through the game slower.

Why do you have "20, 22, 24..."? If it's at a low level, take it to the Battle Subway, and it'll level up to Level 50. Then your IV calculator (I use Serebii) will be much more accurate, rather than a stat having a range of 8.

I beat the story from 9th April to 17th April, more than a week, and took another day to reach White Forest, but still had some trees and buildings. The best way is simply to have a friend/human tool with Black so you can invite people to you forest. I got 12 different Pokemon thanks to this.

I checked the IV's before the ability because I was using an action replay with the IV check code, and the stats and ability are on the same page. I wish RNGing wasn't so damn visual.

I started my White on March 14 and got to White Forest on March 26, and I still had grass and could catch wild Pokemon there. I'm really confused about the problem you guys are having.

Damn grinding Volc before E4 sure is hard

Manage to sweep gethis with lv66 Volc but this thing for sure is crazy

Pre evolve : you have shitty move with shit attack coming from 85 base attack and fragile as hell. You cant beat that rock guy since youre 4x weak meaning SPort hall unreliable AND your best move is freaking DOuble Edge and Flame Charge

Post evolve : He get BD but its not going to help. Why ? his best fire move in special is Fire Blast and you need few level before getting ... Heat Wave. Epic

COnclusion ? never use this for pre #4 guys. Youll be killing yourself(glad i didnt kill myself in the process)

volcarona really doesn't count for this anyway because of the 59 evolution level. he isn't that hard to train in victory road against durants but it still takes awhile. also when he evolves he only need one more level to get heat wave not a few levels. and if you have a heart scale you can teach him silver wind from the move relearner. those 2 moves give him decent coverage and he does pretty well. its just a pain to get him and you will only have him for the E4 and post game.
