Disconnecting in Global Link matches

It's all about battle subway now!
Pretty much this.

I'm not really liking Wi-Fi battle because:
A. it's hard to find trainers
B. people d/c, making less people wanting to play, which contributes to A.
C. Latios, Dark Void Smergle, OHKO, etc.

I stopped playing on the ladder. I'm 20-2 and I have a 1480 rating, having beat people with 1580's.

20-2 wouldn't leave your record that low. never. are you counting all the D/C's that people did to you in your 20 wins? cause that would definitely make sense then. Otherwise it sounds impossible.

Had some Guy with a something ninja with speed boost set up on me with about 10 speed boosts and baton pass to tyranitar who I ko with brick break Ada menace then he pulls out a dragon with draco meteor who misses and I take out with dragon.claw. (held item dragon something). So he d/c on me.

Loser. I'd sat there and taken his speedboost/substitute BS in the face but he couldn't bear tolose.

I think there actually is a penalty, but it applies wrong.

Ever notice how it tends to put you in a battle quickly... unless the last battle involved a disconnect, in which case you'll be sitting there for a while waiting, and waiting longer if it's happened multiple times?

The problem is that it doesn't seem to discriminate as to who the disconnector was. If it was your opponent, it will still make you wait. Presumably it also makes them wait, but I'm not willing to break my no intentional disconnects rule to try it.

I haven't experienced many D/Cs lately (Combined total from yesterday and today is maybe 3). I think my Cinncino is just good luck...

I found someone that D/C'd in the middle of a match, it didn't look like it was decided for anyone. I guess is was mis-intentional. I forgive people for that, but that other...

I wish more people D/C'd in the middle of the match, rather at the end.

It's better they not D/C'd at all, wouldn't you agree?
Most of the time. There have been times where I've been like, "Crap, I didn't bring anything to hit/that can take a hit from [Pokemon]... As long as I look like I know what I'm doing, just maybe..." And then they D/C, saving me from the loss.

Heh, but it's mostly from communications, because out of all the people I've battled on Random Matchup, people usually win, but that must be lucky for you. then there's that off-chance their Internet or whatver fails on them.

There was one time when I faced the same opponent twice in a row, who D/C'd immediately upon seeing my team. Funny thing was, he had a higher wincount and a better looking team than than I did. Maybe he was just offended about something on my team? I can't even imagine.

What was on your team, anyways?

That happens to me occasionally, though they usually don't have a higher win count...

Probably since he just didn't want to play against you again.

I used to do that back in Shoddy Battle sometimes, primarily because if two people know each other's teams, it can turn into a game of overprediction facepalms.

Ive never D/Cd from any match. losing happens we learn from what beats us if we lose it really annoys me when ive played a good game and they have too and they D/C just to protect there rating its noobism of the highest level

Lately, I haven't seen many D/C's (allowing me to reach 200 wins finally), which is suprising as like out of all the players I fought today and yesterday (about 30), about half were American/etc. and the other half were Japanese, and only two American players D/C'ed and two Japanese players D/C'ed. I lost two of the battles, so now I have 202 wins and 57 losses.

I feel kinda bad for one of my recent wins against an American player, the teams were:

Gliscor
Latios
Rotom-C

vs.

Rotom-H
Swampert
Togekiss

He used both Screens while I Sub'd then missed Guillotine. He switched to 'Kiss, I missed Guillotine, I Protected as he Air Slashed. He withdrew 'Kiss and sent out 'Pert, only to die to a Guillotine. He sends 'Kiss back in to die to a Guillotine. He sends out Rotom-H and apparently he gave up since he used Reflect then failed as I missed Guillotine. Next turn, I hit with Guillotine and he suprisingly didn't disconnect. I'm not proud of this win though lol

I have a similar strategy with my Vanilluxe, but w/Sheer Cold. THe thing is, it's 117 Speed (168 EVs and a 24 IV) means it can't abuse it as much as I'd want it to. I guess I'll put more EVs once I can get ahold of a EV-reducing berry.

Why only one berry? They reduce 10 EV's each no matter how many EV's the Pokémon has (My 252 SpDef Politoed took 26 berries until I got the "Cannot go lower" message)

I would be sooo tempted to D/C if someone ever successfully utilized that strategy on me...

That's impossible. Say a pokemon has 252 EVs. The first EV will reduce it to 100, then the rest will lower EVs by 10. Even if a pokemon has 103 EVs, it will lose 3 first, then go down by 10.

I don't believe this to be true this gen, although I could be mistaken. I was just playing around with my Haxorus's EVs and I gave it 3 Speed EV reducing berries and it dropped to 222 from 252. I can check the number of EVs via my AR.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way anymore in 5th gen. It goes down by 10 regardless of EVs now.
