5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

It would be nice if when you exported from the main display to a csv if the saved results were in Decimal if you were in the Decimal view at the time. It also wont' let you edit your MAC address unless you have a Gen 5 method in the Capture region selected, you probably should be able to edit it if you are looking for a shiny egg from BW too.

As I've said a few times before and haven't seen a response to, I'd love to have a multi month search feature as well as having RNG Reporter save your Keypresses to the registry.

Heya,

I never received a response to my post asking for help with a technical issue with RNGReporter. Who should I be contacting for help with this? Specifically I go to calibrate by DS, but when I type in the seconds RNGReporter crashes. I did manage to find that there was an error message in terminal (I use Ubuntu).

If this isn't the right place, I apologize, jst let me know and I'll delete this and move elsewhere.

I am using RNGReporter 9.8 Beta on Jolicloud 1.2 (which runs off of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx/Maverick Meerkat). I am using Mono 2.

All I know is that at even 2 keypresses, it shouldn't take longer than 10 min. to get the green bar to half. Searches where much quicker for me before the last 2 versions.

Uh-huh. And exactly which search are you using for this test?

I'm afraid I don't support Mono - it's been way too much effort on my part to try and get RNG Reporter to run smoothly with it. You might be able to convince chiizu to release a Linux version of PPRNG, though.

Slashmolder: Autocomplete, huh. If that's the case - and only the case - I'm sure I can come up with a workaround.

as well as having RNG Reporter save your Keypresses to the registry.

Like profiles, it was not nearly as important functionality to try including in this release.

It's a known problem that Mono can't properly deal with auto complete, which RNG Reporter uses. Until Mono adds support for that you'll need to wait or get a version of RNG Reporter that doesn't use it. I can try removing the auto complete code and give you a version of the exe without it if you want.

One search (and this was actually during 9.7), was for the Larvesta Egg. I thought to myself that maybe it was just that one because I've never done the Larvesta before, but today (with 9.8) I did a Stationary Pokemon search and was more sluggish than it usually is. And for me, Stationary searches run at the same speed as Wild Pokemon searches.

Thanks for the heads up, that at least answers my question about why it isn't compatible, lol.

I really appreciate that offer. Before you try doing that, is there anyway I can "work around" that particular issue so that you don't have to change the coding? Also what is the most recent version of RNGReporter that did not use autocomplete? If there is one, I don't want you to go to all the effort just because I am ignorant of it. If not, then I would take you up on that offer. :D

I'm not sure of which was the latest version that worked. I would compile the latest version for you but the latest source code is missing EggParents.Designer.cs and I'm too lazy to extract it form the exe, here's 9.79: http://www.mediafire.com/?85cqmhxbupt0acc
All I did was comment out the AutoComplete code.

@Omega I believe the Shiny Egg search is broken. The Date\Time\Keypress I'm given for seeds are not valid combinations to actually hit that seed.

Why is it that the shiny egg finder does not give me seeds with PID(s) with the correct inheritance to get my desired spread? For example: http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u293/jfdnew/TimeFinder.jpg
You can see that I specified that both parents have 31/31/31/5/5/5 and that I wanted 31/31/31/31/31/31. So I copy the seed to clipboard and paste it in the main window of RNG reporter and I get this. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u293/jfdnew/MainWindow.jpg
The inheritance is | | |Ma|Fe|Fe| |
The SpAtk and SpDef come from the parents but that doesn't give me the flawless spread I want because neither parent has 31 in SpAtk or SpDef. So what's up with that?

OK guys, here's the problem.

As far as I know, I have the latest version of PPRNG.

When I enter things into the Parameter Searcher, it turns up with no results.

I tried using both April and May (my DS was set to one of them), and it came up the same both times: no results.

You need to redo this and get the exact date and time ("April or May" is rather suspicious). Also, be sure you are putting the time in 24 hour format.

You might be able to convince chiizu to release a Linux version of PPRNG, though.

Unlikely, unless someone wants to volunteer to port the GUI front end to use GTK.

Is the 5th Gen Shiny Egg generator working for anyone? Even though I'm sure I hit my seed it doesn't seem to give me the right results. I thought I was able to find my correct starting PID then I made sure by advancing the frame once with chatot then I get something completely off. I'm going to try using a different seed for now to see what my results would be.

Is there a way to copy the full seed in the 5th gen shiny egg finder?

Right-click result -> Copy Seed to Clipboard does it.

Will add EggParents.Designer.cs back, but I'm not certain it's the AutoComplete code. The exception he posted was for Int32.Parse.

deadguydrew, I'd like you to download the latest (9.81, first page) and test out the DS Parameters window again. It shouldn't crash now. If it doesn't, great. Let me know of any future exception triggers in the future, I guess I can put in a few workarounds to catch exceptions.

I tested several and they came out fine. You sure you're not putting in the wrong year by accident? I ended up doing just that for a few minutes because 2010 was saved in my Shiny Egg search settings.

Known glitch, fixed in 9.81.

RNG Reporter 9.81

Changes:
- Added: Show Inheritance checkbox on 5th Gen Shiny Egg search
- Fixed: An issue in Shiny Egg Finder where IVs were incorrectly displayed if fields left 0 or blank
- Fixed: 5th Gen Shiny Egg finder CSV output
- Fixed: 4th Gen Shiny Egg finder CSV output
- Fixed: DS Parameters button in Time Finder, broken in 9.80
- Fixed: Numerous Researcher fixes, including no more divide-by-zero error

I need a bit of help.
I have a seed time of 00:02:16. I have a differential of 1 so I start at 15. THen I start at that time catch a pokemon. Copy seed to main screen to check for pid frame, so i can find my starting frame to catch a shiny pokemon. Now I never get rock hard consistent natures or if I do they don't appear. So i can never find my starting pid frame. And I'm never in weather or near Npcs. I'm on route 3 just next to the city with the second gym.

You may want to make a list of not-going-to-be-added features to your document on the first page.

Just to clarify to those of you asking, the whole multi-month thing most likely will not be added, ever. I don't know if you're doing something wrong in your search or what but it takes approximately 1.5 hours to search a single month with reasonable parameters on a over-clocked quad core running 8 threads. That means anything less will run much longer at near 100% CPU usage. This will destroy your computer if you run it for too long. When things are running with that much power for that long, they produce way more heat than your average cooling system can take.

Edit: Before anyone says anything, that may have been an over estimate on the time. The point is the same though.

I've been trying to RNG a typical Timid Thundurus for 2 days, and I've hit my seed a little over 60 times without Timid coming up. What I'm wondering is, is there reliability at all to the PIDRNG for roamers? I'd been advancing the PIDRNG with chatots until an hour ago, when I started wondering if it was really working. So I started leaving the house without listening to chatters, and I got different natures! 3 of the 5 I've gotten so far are the same, but the other two weren't, and I'm 100% certain I didn't advance the PIDRNG at all for them. What are the mechanics of the roamers' PIDRNG? Or is it just totally random?

Somehow updating to 9.81 fixed it for me.

Every second you're out in the rain during that event until the pokemon's info is generated the PID frame is getting advances somewhere near 120 frames per second. What you can do to control this is to mash A the second you get out of the house and you should get consistent results. Don't feel discouraged, it took me nearly a week and over 150 tries before I managed to find a Timid one.

Some of us have non stock cooling systems. Also, I've had my desktop run at 100% for an entire night before doing some other calculations and never had an issue. There is no real difference between us sitting in front of the computer and changing the month after a search (which takes about 20 minutes on my i7 950 for 3 keypresses). You could at least add the feature and warn some people about this problem in a bold label or limit the range of months to search but I seriously doubt it would cause much of an issue on any modern computer.

Thank you, that explains a lot, like why I keep getting multiple of the same nature but no Timids. I'm at a loss though as to how to use this information. About how many seconds does it take on average to mash A through the rain? If I knew that I could find my spot on the PIDRNG list and figure out where to go from there.
