I'm trying to teach someone how to RNG abuse on 4th gen. Person in question is using a DSi XL. Would that give us any trouble?
No you can use any kind of DS you want to RNG abuse in 4th gen

Yeah, lol. So 67 advancements :]
Edit: Are BCCs encounter slots different? Here it says there's only 1-10. If so, when I search for a seed in PokeRNG and I pick Encounter Slot 9, will the pokemon that appears be Scyther, or will it be different because BCC encounter slots are different?
Well, it's more complicated than that.
You have to do math on your own, unless if RNG reporter fixed it for you? I haven't tried it with 9.81
But this is what you have to do to find the encounter slot
[number obtained via current frame + 1 latter 4 hex digits / 656; the usual process]
Slot 1: 0 - 19
Slot 2: 20 - 39
Slot 3: 40 - 49
Slot 4: 50 - 59
Slot 5: 60 - 69
Slot 6: 70 - 79
Slot 7: 80 - 84
Slot 8: 85 - 89
Slot 9: 90 - 94
Slot 10: 95 - 99
Let's say I'm on frame 3 right now, I look at frame 4's PID which is 6D5477B7. Take the last 4 digits of the PID, 77B7. Divide that by 656 which will come out to being 46. So my frame 3 Encounter Slot for BCC would be Slot 3. Take that and figure out which one you're getting.

Oh, I see .-. Lol, ok. Thanks for the example, since I didn't get it at all without it xD
But 9.81 luckily calculates it correctly, I've tested it. Thank you!
And also, Safari Zone has random pokemon appear, right? Is Frame advancement any different in the Safari Zone?
I have no idea for Safari Zone, I don't even understand the block thing.
Could you give me a kindergarten explanation of that whole block leveling, or whatever it is?
But it looks like there is a tab for Safari Zone abusing as well.
You can put "blocks" anywhere in the Safari Zone to make certain pokemon appear. If you keep the blocks in the Safari Zone for a long time, and have a lot of blocks in one area (Like, the Meadow area, or the Desert area, etc.) a rare pokemon has a chance of appearing in that area. Serebii probably explains it better :P
I changed the encounter type to Safari Zone for Method K and the only thing that changed was the Encounter Slots. I thought there were no encounter slots, so Idk if someone figured it out or if the Encounter Slots are just there.
I got that, but it says something like you leave it there and it levels up and counts more towards something and can be moved without losing it's level? I don't quite get it... xD!
Oh, it's something about how if you keep the blocks in the same area for a certain amount of time, they get levels or something. And "rare" pokemon won't take as long to appear, I think. I'm not to sure. :P
Edit: Actually, I think 9.81 is wrong. I tried testing it with a seed a found that has quint-flawless IVs on multiple frames (with a syncer) and I pasted it into 9.81 and one of the Encounter Slots was 9 (Frame 23). So I looked at frame 24s PID, and the last 4 digits are 5951. I got 34, which means it would be encounter slot 2, not 9. I might test it, because I really would like to use that seed, but I doubt 9.81 is right .-.
Ah, I don't get it either. I would like to try Safari Zone but it seems to much trouble for what it's worth. >.>
Maybe, should test it as I found the same thing. My math seems right but RNG reporter is also wrong on encounter slots for good/super rod, so it might be wrong again as well.

Ok, I'll test it and see what results I get.
Just curious, but how did Alexshiny get a wild flawless Jolly Poke? Is there something different about Pokeradar pokes (as far as natures go)? I realize RNGing for Pokeradar pokes is a heckuva process, but I didn't think there were any flawless 4th Gen Jolly seeds. Here is the link to his trading forum post: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3640412&postcount=1929
He uses the Chained Theoretical Method, which'll allow you to capture flawless Pokémon with any nature. I don't know how it works, just ask him.
Princess of Johto said:Has anyone here experienced HUGE frame jumps in the BCC? Specifically from Sweet Scenting? I need to find a new seed because when I SS the frame jumps by 58 and I pass up my target frame .-.
When using Shiny Chained Theoretical, the nature is determined by your ID/SID rather than shiny, as it's already assuming you have that chained shiny (or non) chained and ready to be captured.
So how do you go about getting a good spread? I was just testing with a wild spread and the results are totally different.
You use any normal spread you can find. So in the case we were talking about he took one of the hexflawless spreads. Doesn't matter which.
He probably shifted the frame to something relatively high so that he can get his chained shiny before his spread's frame passed. When I did Shiny Chained Theoretical, I aimed for a frame of 7,000-ish.
So do you enter that flawless spread as the "Chained Shiny" method then? For RNG Reporter 9.81, I don't seed a "Chainy Shiny Theoretical" option. Seems like keeping track of your step advancement is the biggest issue. At least it seems that way to me.
Also, I believe you mentioned how the Chained Shiny Natures are based on your ID/SID. How does that calculation work? I assume it is tied to the PID frame you are aiming for.
It's just named "Chained Shiny" now.
Yeah, it can be super difficult if not impossible to do it for a cart. Especially at frames above a few hundred. If you're doing abuse for say a spread on frame 200, you could most likely do it on a cart. But at 7,000 xD! Good luck.
RNG reporter will shift the nature when you enter your ID/SID.
Seems like an Emulator plus a framefinder program is almost an essential. I'd hate to go through the process and miss my target by a few frames all because of the unpredictable nature of RNG advancement in grass.
I can certainly appreciate the accomplishment of Pokeradar RNGing (especially shiny), but that seems like so much work. Especially since I don't have an emulator or the other tools I know Alexshiny has been using.
