Hey everyone. A little question referring to an OU team I'm making. Since I don't normally rely on weather, I'm making a team with a dark/psychic/and fighting core. Know any good mons that would work well with these TYPES? Looking for type (such as fire type) and a pokemon or two to go with it (ie. Heatran, infernape).

That really depends on which Pokés you choose specifically. You should come up with one or two example cores that you are interested in, such as Tyranitar Celebi Conkeldurr or something along those lines

Does anyone know how many trainers would be available in Black City if a person were to clear the game in under 24 hours and enter the city?

Or a calculation for the amount of trainers available when the player enters the city for the first time?

ooh....Close, so close! The DFP core is made up of hydreigon (for special offensive), Conkledurr (Physical fighter and sandstorm breaker), and latias (Special wall/fighter). Guess I should have said which ones I were using huh?
Basically, I'm looking for mons that can help defend these guys. I have an idea of empoleon, ferrothorn, and gengar (Fighting resist, because frankly, conkledurr will eat this team up) but I want to hear your opinion on what would work.

Thanks, that's much more helpful.

Empoleon can and will wall to hell and back every ice attack aimed at hydriegon and latios, (ice weakness is bad here) but if a strong fighting type breaks through latios, it can possibly kill the rest of the core.
edit: I forgot to notice that you have a dragon weakness as well, and Empoleon could serve to counter that and ice weaknesses. If you choose him, (props for Empoleon, I use him and he's been nothing but helpful!) then make sure to be careful of the fighting weakness you stack on.

Ferrothorn has problems with fighting types as well.

I personally think that adding a ghost in would be the best option, as then your fighting problem is allieved (free switch ins too). And with some of the available ghosts, you can add in an ice resist. Chandelure could work for offensive purposes to destroy anything you have problems with, and Jellicent could be defensive and burn things. Personally I'd say Jellicent. Watch out for something like Tyranitar though, but Conk takes care of that.

Thanks for your opinion winston! Luckily, I have gengar as a ghost for the 3 fighting type weaknesses on my team. Gengar can use hypnosis to put conk to sleep, and then proceed to shadow ball it to death. Ferrothorn is mainly there because frankly, I'm freaking scared of rain, and this thing seems like the best option to it.

Also, one more question. What would be the best possible set for latiAs to use? Not latios. LatiAs.

(Eviolite) Gligar used Power Trick!

What would be happening with Gligar's stats?

I would assume that the eviolite boost would be ignored for the purpose of power trick. Eviolite is an item, not part of the defense stat itself. You wouldn't expect to get a boost in defense if you did the same while holding a choice band would you?

Furthermore:

Well, the best way to shut down Excadrill is to change the weather. Makes your job much easier as Sand Rush is gone
Ninetales may outspeed Excadrill but has to get in after a KO or an U-Turn, which means, we have to get hit before.
Politoed without a scarf can't outspeed Excadrill even outside of sandstorm.
I though of Whimscot, who can shut down Excadrill with (unreliable) Stun Spore, but eventually gets some X-Scissors in the face.

So, Gliscor as the only conter, as it can come in whenever it wants?

gliscor is pretty easy to beat with some luck and +2/+4.

30 flinch is pretty skary.

use skarmory.
or bronzong.
We may forget, that Skarmory and Bronzong may survive longer, but in return don't have something to kill it. And you know how lackluster Hidden Power on Bronzong is.

Mk, quick question, and it may be personal preference.
Who's a better lead for a Sand Team :
Tyranitar Vs. Hippowdon ? Or should you just pick what you think is better ?

It depends on what kind of guy you want to run. If you want a defensive SR healer, then use hippowdon. If you want a powerful attacker, then use T-tar. All depends what your playstyle is, and what mons you have trouble with. If you are scizor weak, use hippowdon. That was an example. If you want pure offense that knocks everything over though, use t-tar.

is it a good idea to only run 264 speed on a kyurem to outspeed base 130's with a scarf then invest the rest in Hp?

dont forget, bronzong has eathquake to OHKO excadrill.
and lackluster? hardly. if its enough to ohko gliscor, its good enough.
Let's do some calcs:

Bronzong Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)

Earthquake on Excadrill (without Def and HP)

280 - 330 = 77.6% - 91.4%

LO-Earthquake on Excadrill

362 - 428 = 100.3% - 118.6%

Well, we definitely need spikes or Life Orb on Bronzong.

Bronzong
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)

HP Fighting on Excadrill (still no Def or HP investment)

122 - 144 = 33.8% - 39.9%

LO-HP Fighting on Excadrill

158 - 186 = 43.8% - 51.5%

Besides it's no surprise Bronzong can OHKO Gliscor with HP Ice. With a quadruple weakness it almost die from any special ice move.

It IS possible to OHKO Excadrill at minimum with LO-Pure-Offensive-Bronzong.

On the other side I often see this kind of Excadrill:

Excadrill (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 160 HP / 232 Atk / 116 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

KO, maybe no OHKO, but what about survival?

+2 X-Scissors on Bronzong (max. HP, no Def)

232 - 274 = 68.6% - 81.1%

Excadrill isn't at full power but after swords dance it still 2HKO Bronzong.

But Bronzong wasn't at its best defens either:

+2 X-Scissors on Bronzong (max HP , max Def, Impish nature)

172 - 202 = 50.9% - 59.8%

Ouch, it still hurt like hell. That's a clean 2HKO on Bronzong without leftovers and a close one if we consider leftovers.

K, Bronzong may not be a counter, but it's still a solid check. Oh, boy it takes much to take it down.

Right now, I have a rain team, but I need a Tyranitar counter. Can anyone recommend one that can replace one of my pokes(Swampert doesn't seem to fit in)
SubPunch Toxicroak, Defensive Politoed, Defensive Zapdos, ChestoRest Kingdra, Life Orb Starmie and MixedDragonite

Well, it took me three days to beat the game and reach Black City and when I got there, there were ten people. None of them said their "I'm bored of Black City" line either. I don't know how long they stay but there's a start. Maybe a week? Don't quote me on that.

Just wondering for my team. I am kinda status weak. Wondering if vaporeon is a good heal beller for that? Also, what are the psychic types in OU? Just a list please.

Has creating a server that hosts five moveslots per Pokemon ever been discussed? Methinks it would lead to a pretty unique metagame.
