5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Alright I ill go ahead and read that and try to follow it. Will give an update once I try it out.

e]
3. Catch the encountered Pokemon, and find its IV range

4. Enter the date and time from Step 3 and the Pokemon's information from Step 5 into Parameters. Input the correct MAC address and range of Encryption Variables for your current DS and Version.

This right here is confusing me. It sounds like the guide is stating the date and time that I caught the pokemon, and not the time that I hit A to begin the game from the DS menu.

No, you should definitely be using the time that you hit A to start the game. You aren't turning on your C-gear are you?

With my parameters i found that
Seed: F026A3BC
Frame: 8
Spread: 30 - 31 - 28 - 31 - 31 - 0
Date: 9 December 2011
Hour: 17 / 12 / 43
Timer0: 3CB (mine)
Keypress: No
But i always hit different seeds... can someone explain me all what i have to do to hit correctly my seed? ._.

Hey, I'm having trouble finding my initial seed stuff. I followed the following guide, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4zNQH9cC3w, and had date/time: september5, hour:9, minute:3, seconds:30; and caught a lvl60 solrock and determined its IVs to be 9/31/8/0/19/19 and typed my MAC address in correctly, and I am using a DS lite. however, the DS parameter finder does not display any results for me. Could someone please tell me what I need to do?

Now that I think about it, this is a /headdesk moment but I am pretty sure my C-Gear was on, while it should not be turned on. I'll retry everything WITHOUT C-Gear on and see how it works.

e] Okay I got my Seed. Thank you everyone for the help, it is very appreciated.

Now I have another problem. I have everything displayed correctly in the Time Finder and have some decent spreads but my problem is figuring out how to get a pokemon with the spread. I have he Frame at 1, and the pokemon I originally caught to find my seed was at victory road, and now I am in Lostlorn Forest I believe (The one right outside of Nacrene). Do the steps I walked to get outside of victory road + the steps from Nacrene to the forest count in those 128 steps?

Hello again! :D

I was very into this scene a few months ago, but then I grew bored with Pokemon because I didn't really have anyone else to play with. Now I'm sick and picked the game back up to keep me entertained. I haven't used the last couple versions of RNG Reporter (latest is 9.81, right?) so the interface has changed a little.

I got the hang of the shiny egg finder - that's a WONDERFUL tool - but I can't find the option to generate plain ol' non-shiny eggs any more. Sorry for the stupid question, but could someone point me in the right direction?

Edit: @istore - Nope, the 128 steps thing only starts after you've started the game and successfully hit your seed. :)

You're resetting (Ctrl+R) at 17:12:43 (5:12:43 PM?). Remember your computer clock needs to be set to PM. Set it to something like 5:12:30 PM and then wait for it to hit 5:12:43 PM and reset (Ctrl+R) as soon as it reaches that time.

Stop telling people to use those parameters. They're not using an emulator so they don't need to use those parameters.

Enter the wrong ID/SID and use the shiny egg tab.

Say I was crazy enough to try RNGing Thundurus by beating the Elite 4...

Would I still use the Roaming Legendary Encounter type?

Does Thundurus get generated the moment you defeat Alder or is it the moment the battle screen fades and goes back to the overworld sprites?

Also, if anybody has any tips for RNGing Thundurus like that, it would be greatly appreciated.

it's faster if you use the normal time finder with "gift pokemon" as encounter type (from personal experience).

Oh, so "gift pokemon" is the same method as "breeding" now? IIRC there used to be a method called Breeding that would account for starting on frame 8. I tried using the normal encounter method, but I got really weird results that didn't match anything.

Anywho, I'll try that. I agree, using the shiny egg finder when I'm not looking for a shiny is kind of overkill, but it'll also work.

If (s)he has to find his (her) own parameters, has to follow those parameters, the only difference with emulator is (s)he has to calculate IVs and can't enter Initial Seed looked on RAMWatch, right?

I always hit the same but wrong seed, that means parameters i found aren't correct, but trying again 10 times with parameters i used i don't find nothing FG
I have to try again and again

Can i download a RAM Hack for Desmume?

By default the parameter finder is setup to work for a DS/retail cartridge. If he's using a DS/retail cartridge there's absolutely no reason to mess with the default setup. The reason he couldn't find his parameters is because he was doing something wrong not because there's anything wrong the default search range (I don't know what he's doing wrong and I don't feel like making guesses).

You're saying when you try to find your parameters again you don't get the same parameters? You should always get the same parameters. Did you have Bus-Level timing disabled when you found your parameters? If yes, you need to have it disabled when you're RNGing. You have 2 sets of parameters, one for Bus-Leveling timing enabled and one for bus-level timing disabled.

What should i do?

Alright, I'm having trouble RNGing.
(Using RNG Reporter 9.81 BETA)

I'm starting out by following the video instructions for Standard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4zNQH9cC3w

When ever I try to generate results (7:57 in the video) I don't get anything.
I set the frame to 1 - 10.
I'm trying for a 31/30/30/31/31/31 Cobalion.

I'm sure you need this information.
MAC Address: 0009BF9F9CFE
Actual Seconds: +1
VCount: 60
Timer0: C7C
GxStat: 6
VFrame: 8

Okay, I am sorry I am asking so many questions but I just need some more clarifying

Once I find the IVs of the pokemon I catch in Victory Road (I'm using Rare Candies so I shut my game off after I figure the IVs out [and I save after I catch the pokemon but before using the candies]) I can go to the Pokemon Center, deposit all but one pokemon (since I think I read 128 steps with one pokemon in your party advances your frame by 1, if 5 pokemon were in your party, it would advance the frame by 5 (but I only need to advance it by 1). Then I would just walk or bike to the place where I want to capture the RNG pokemon, save then shut the game off. Turn it back on, then walk 128 steps?

Is what I posted above accurate information? This is my interpretation of how to do a capture RNG.

From what I understand about RNGing, this is correct.
Just make sure you start your seed at the right time (turn on the game at the time the timefinder gives you), then walk your 128 steps to advance the frame, encounter the Pokemon, catch it, check its IVs. It should work.

From my understanding, that's how it works.

I've given you all the necessary info to find your parameters. If you can't find them there's nothing more I can do.

Try to RNG something again and when you hit the wrong seed, right click your target seed in the time finder and click "generate adjacent seeds (current frame)." See if you're hitting one of the adjacent seeds.

Wait a minute. Do you still have to start on IV frame 8 when using "gift pokemon" for breeding, or do you start on frame 1?
Eggs always start on frame 8 for IVs.
Not sure why you want to use the capture tab instead of the shiny egg tab. The shiny egg tab is less work and usually returns a good seed within a few minutes (or less) assuming you have decent parents. Just set min frame (it's the PID frame) to 60 and max frame to 200 in the shiny egg tab and search.

Your search is very specific. That could be the reason you're getting no results. Try searching with less specific IVs. Do you get results? If yes then there's no problem. You have to be more patient (or get a faster computer).

Am going to give this a try, now that I got this clarified. Thanks a bunch :)
I had a flawless + HP Ice 70 set earlier but wasn't sure what to do so that one is out the door :P

I did accidently choose 1 - 1000 frames the first time I tried.
I had 3 seeds in the 800s.

Is there any way to advance my frame by a large amount in a short amount of time?

Check the first post in this thread. It explains everything that advances the IV & PID frame. Generally you want to avoid advancing the IV frame (i.e. use frame 1) because NPCs are going to screw up the PID frame if you have to walk to advance the IV frame.

Click on 5th gen DS parameter setup and make sure you have 2 or 3 keypresses selected. Using keypresses makes RNG reporter search more seeds in a given month thus you're more likely to get results with keypresses (albeit longer search).

Eggs always start on frame 8 for IVs.

The point is that I don't want the egg to be shiny. I've succeeded twice with the shiny egg finder, but I don't want everything to be shiny. :)

Alright so I generated all possibilities and picked one that I wanted. I went to the date + time (which was 9/14/11 and 22:05:26). My seconds offset is 1 second, so I started the game at 22:05:25. I had one pokemon in my party and walked 128 steps, my 128th step into grass where I could find the wild pokemon. However I did not enter a battle on my 128th step. And now, I am confused.

Okay, I found a 30/30/30/31/31/31 Cobalion.
& I've caught him twice as Bold natured.
Any way I can change the nature?
I heard saving in front of him works.
