Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

The most efficient way to advance the frames by radio is to hold Down on the D-Pad and tap the bottom-right button for the radio when the text disappears. This reduces the chance that you accidentally hit another radio station.

I've got another Emerald question. Is it at all possible to RNG for shiny eggs in Emerald? I know the shininess is determined when the guy steps forward, but is it method 1? Would I be able to save on the last step in Mauville and step onto Route 117 at the right frame?

Not as of now. Best you can do is to trade the egg to a different save.

Okay, so I won't worry about it since I don't have all the stuff to transfer my save to an emulator. Or I'll just get the shinies I want when I start abusing in 4th gen.

Well it is possible to do it on a retail cart in theory you would have to figure out the numbers returned by the RNG calls manually with the Researcher tool in RNG reporter. You just use the default settings but you can set Custom1 to 16 bit high * 1 to see the numbers returned by the RNG call in decimal instead of hex, as well as setting the max results fairly high (100000 should be enough). You would use a two stage timer, first for your OT and second for your SID, making sure to give yourself enough time to reach the screens. The screen for the ID is when you hit OK after entering your name, and the screen for the SID is the last entry IIRC. It's tough though so good luck.

O.O It sure sounds tough :o I need to get into Gen 3 RNGing soon, but it sounds so complicated :/

Only use an emulator for ID/SID abuse (for now) and non-bred pokemon, preferably ones with stuff that can only be obtained in 3rd gen IMO. If you're able to backup your retail cart save (google GBA backup tool) you can RNG an egg then trade it to a save with the right ID/SID if you want it shiny but you'll have to look up the PID with some sort of tool.

OK, so two questions, why not on an Emulator?
And where can you find the PID for the ID/SID Abuse?

Because if you do it on a retail cart you don't have to say that you did it on an emulator.

To find the PID you'll have to use external tools like Enciclopedia Pokemon or RSE decode.

Yeah, I'm not starting over my Emerald, so no ID abuse. I'll just wait for HG RNGing to get shinies. For now I need to finish Emerald's Battle Frontier and the colosseums in Colosseum and XD before 4th gen RNGing. Too bad all the good legendaries are on FR/LG/Southern Island.

Well in the RNG research thread Kaphotics posted about RNGing the PID but atm there are no tools to assist you so you'll have to figure out how to do it yourself. I can't quite grasp it myself yet but I'm not really interested in 3rd gen shiny eggs so I can't be bothered by it.

I've already RNGed Suicune, Lugia, and Ho-Oh on my SS. How do I RNG the roaming Latios, Entei, and Raikou? The Latios is more important than the other two.

Hello All

ShinyFinder

1. Download the program. You can get it here (sorry I don't have anywhere better to host it). Note that ShinyFinder is Windows only and you will need the .NET framework, so if you can run RNG Reporter, it will probably work.

Can you update your link and can you make it for heartgold and soulsilver
thanks

On DP (i don't know if is the same on Platinum or on HGSS) there's a really useful tab: Seed Finder. Even if i think you know it, i explain a little
Basically, you hit a (random) seed, checkable checking (lol) RAMWatch on emulator or looking at IVs of a wild poke. Then you select on RNG what you want (shinyness, ability, nature), you do a few other things, you collect your egg and you have your pokemon with ability, shinyness and nature you selected on RNG. IVs are random
That's easy, simple to do without following a guide and you can get good results. There's a way to do the same on BW? I mean, no CGear stuff, no Timer0, no NPCs that do whatever they want, is there something like that?

Emerald question:

If I want to breed something that may have its ability change in 4G, can I check that without doing the IVs and saving/pal parking? I basically will need to make sure whatever egg I create has Ability 1 and not Ability 0.

Unfortunately there is no way to check unless you can backup the save. You would make a backup of the save once the old man has an egg, open the save on an emulator (you can dump your own ROM too), collect the egg and save (the save on the cart won't be touched obv.), and then check the egg with Enciclopedia Pokemon. The PID must end in an odd number for Ability 1.
