So J-man, how confident are you in your non Verlander starters to tame the Yankees lineup. Fister vs Nova mark 2 would be my guess for the SP's.

doug fister has a 2.83 era while ivan nova has a 3.70 era. i know that the yankees face the red sox while the tigers face the.......................indians? so that helps fisters era but i would still much rather have a somewhat experienced man on the hill rather than a rookie in the clinching game of his first playoff series, even if he won game 1.

yo nova sucked early in the year but finished super strong

about salary cap: if it ever happens, what matt says is true (its what ive always said) but also RATIOS will lower. in respect to the other players some are going to get paid more than others, but it "should" be a lower amount that it is right now

a salary cap also forces every (almost) team to uhh "reallocate" money aka restructure contracts. also MLB is the only major sport with true farm systems, hockey has AHL nba has "dleague" but how can you salary cap 6 teams at once? need to fit under the cap? send that guy making 6 million a year to AAA

And the Royals... Yeah they suck, but it's all because of their pitching... If my memory serves right, Fister shut them down, so yeah...

You ask the wrong question Stallion. Am I confident that a non Verlander starter can hold the Yanks? Absolutely. See: Scherzer, Max. See: Fister, Doug at the start of Game 1. Am I confident the Offense wakes up? That would've been a better question to ask... You can also ask if i'm scared Grandy makes ESPN Highlight reel saves every time someone should get an extra base hit. You know what? Bottom line is, anything that can happen will happen in Game 5. If it's not this year, I promise you (and I ain't no Cubs fan either) this. It will be next year. Payroll is going up, and Dombrowski's gonna look for pitching to compliment this powerhouse hitting club.

"My" pitchers? I'm a BoSox fan bro.

I just wanted to comment on the Tigers facing elimination while the Rangers are in the ALCS. I guess a team like NYY would want to face the Tigers and Verlander with his 5.00 ERA in 9 IP instead of the Rangers after all...

Hard to tell, since you defend them both. The Rangers making it in against an opp whose superior pitching staff didn't pitch up to their skill level and got shafted by their own sub average offense doesn't mean they're tougher than the Tigers. It just means they won three very close games. But do you truly want to know something? I bet the Yankees fear Justin Verlander and his 11 ks, holding them to two runs for a majority of the night, and giving his team 8 Innings over CJ Wilson, his five pathetic innings of work, and his 8 ER followed up by by another pathetic lackluster outing by Holland.

And I bet you that the Yankees starters fear the Rangers offense more than the Tigers. And unlike ya boy Verlander, that offense is a factor every night.

See Souray, Sheldon

Could have different salary caps for each farm system, but that could get very complicated very quickly.

Offense is useless if you can't outhit your opponent. See: Yankees, New York. We very well will outpitch you.

Huh, I counted 10 NYY hits to the Tigers eight? Outhitting your opponent isn't worth much if you can't get hits when it counts.

Alternatively...
Outpitching the Tigers involves giving up two home runs in the first inning?

Promise not to post again if we win the series?

What do you mean by again. Like, ever on smogon? Or this thread? Will you not post ever again if the Tigers win? Are we gonna shake on this? hmm?

I doubt it. You scared. I'm very confident now that I know that Ogando isn't scheduled to start yet...

Keep drinking the Hatorade though...

suck dick

ok im really excited about brewers vs cards. the brewers have a good shot of making the world series which is insane.

As a Reds fan, I am now obligated to root for the AL. >:( !! Luckily LOLYANKS so I can root for either remaining team.

I'd almost be okay with the Brewers winning but we can't have Colin Cowherd be right. :(
