OU CCAT: Nidoking Edition

With sandstorm support this guy can not be underestimated and can rip through even counters like skarmoury with a little luck.

How? With a non-Flight Gem boosted Acrobatics? And hoping that the Skarmory doesn't have Whirlwind or just uses you as fodder to set up Spikes?

EDIT: If you don't want people complaining about your suggestion:
a. Don't post it, if you think we're all going to instantly join the bandwagon on everything we see, please leave.
b. Post it, but don't make silly claims like "it beats Skarmory, but I'm going to make it incredibly vague as to how and rely on hax when I do"
Because, you know, pokes being able to beat its counters with hax is the best damn argument I've heard about anything.

So I'll rephrase your last sentence: This thread is for suggesting pokes and giving valid reasons why, or people will moan about it.

Probably by letting you set up to +6 and you like 2HKOing with Acrobatics. Of course, that's only if they miss with Whirlwind. 5 times in a row -____-

but i support Cloyster wholeheartedly because it is one of the few Pokemon in BW right now that is consistently capable of sweeping an opponent's team (the other Pokemon that i think can sweep consistently is Dragonite but we all know how to make a team around Nite already.)

With sandstorm support this guy can not be underestimated and can rip through even counters like skarmoury with a little luck.

Well...I don't see that thing beating Skarmory any time soon unless it's a last Pokemon sweep attempt type of thing...

Anyway, I fully support trying to use Darmanitan, whether it be through Scarf or Band. Even without sun support, it's one of the most incredibly powerful Pokemon I've ever used, and nobody seems to understand it's power. And let's not even talk about what it's capable of with sun support.

Yeah, thing is, if you're going to make a team based on a single Pokemon with the other teammates preparing for its sweep, good luck with that. This kind of strategy is less stable than others at this point.

EDIT: This wasn't targeted at the above, but okay.

That's why we use Darmanitan who just comes in, kills something, and then leaves repeatedly. The only things that won't die are like Jellicent and Flash Fire Pokemon. Everyone wins with that strategy.

Darmanitan (even scarf) in the sun has no counters. Jellicent and Slowbro are 2HKOd with SR and Heatran will fall to superpower. Darmanitan's enemy is SR, priority, and recoil. The problem with Darmanitan is that you have to use sun, which means ninetales, which means annoying UU / Forry rapid spinners for the most part. But other than that it's a true powerhouse.

We can include a lot of the suggested sets if we use Hail. I really think we should give Hail a shot, moreso than individual Pokemon.

Hail sounds really really cool, but if we are working around one pokemon I must vote for virizion. With a lot of people using ferrocent as a defensive core, CM virizion can muscle through both (not to mention being one of a few set-up sweepers who can beat quagsire) and usually sweep teams thanks to its natural speed and bulk. The Giga Drain buff is also amazing this gen.

I am absolutely behind Cloyster and Darmanitan but I would especially like to see a team around Staraptor. My preference would be for a Choice Band variant, however, becuase that thing hits so hard it's just unreal. There are basically zero common Pokemon that can switch into Close Combat, Brave Bird and Double Edge safely. Possibly Skarmory, I don't know how much Close Combat does, but even then it's not going to take much weakening. It offers plenty of options for team configuration, from paralysis to wish support, and would do an excellent job of ripping teams to pieces in preperation for some sort of cleaner. It does have an issue with Scarfers, Priority and of course Pokemon that naturally outspeed it, but that just offers us more oppurtunities to support it.

Mix mence. He is a monster.

Salamence @ Life Orb
Naive/Rash
116 Attk - 216 SpA - 176 Spd
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Brick Break
-Roost

If you've already decided on something, ignore this, I didn't read through the whole thread.

I'd like to see a team with Trick Room Victini.
494.gif

Victini @ Life Orb Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 24 Def
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Trick Room
- V-create
- Fusion Bolt
- Brick Break

No real reason other than it's a little rat that shoots fire shaped like a V. Oh, and I like it because it uses the speed that is so important in this metagame against the fast guys. V-Create obviously boosts it's Speed in Trick Room. I don't know why nobody ever uses this. Banded Victini is great, but it has to switch a lot and with rocks up, it won't last long. And Scarf Victini is good, too, but most people use it with Fianl Gambit which just makes me cringe. Way to waste a Victini.
It's a great mid-to late game sweeper and generally very good against sun teams and it certainly doesn't have to be in a full Trick Room team. Maybe something else on the team that is fairly slow could be useful in case it dies while TR is still up.

Hey guys, I've looked at this whole thread and noticed something. Pretty much everything here appreciates para support, so I second the suggestion on parashuffler D-nite; we can then test conk, staraptor, and kyurem much more effectively.

Virizion @ Life Orb/Leftovers
Justified / Jolly
4 HP / 252 Att / 252 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge

See ya Jellithorn. This is a really underrated sweeper who many people aren't prepared for. It's not only got more powerful moves than the CMer, it also sets up twice as fast, not to mention people normally send in special walls against it. I'd love to see the community build a team around this

My proposal is Swampert, more specifically Cursepert. I feel Swampert fits the criteria of a forgotten pokemon that still has a lot going for it.

260.png
@ Leftovers / Chesto Berry
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk -Satk)
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Waterfall / Rest

The obvious thorn in Swampert's side is Ferrothorn, along with Grass types in general becoming a lot more dominant with a buffed Giga Drain and a few new type combinations. Scald from opposing water types and burn in general can end a Rest-less Curseperts sweep as well. Curse Swampert definitely requires team support, but can still pull it's weight using it's great bulk and resistances, so it's not a complete dead weight. It does still see some play on Rain teams as a Choice Bander or a semi-reliable SR layer, but overall it's previously inferior Water/Ground brethren gained a lot more useage thanks to the gifts of Dream World.

Other Options: Hammer Arm, Aqua Tail, 'ChestoRest', Stone Edge, 'Cropert'.

Team Options: Magnezone for Ferrothorn/Jellicent, Breloom for similar reasons. Roserade can set up Toxic Spikes, Reflect/Light Screen support as Swampert has issues with power creep and just getting straight up 2hkod.

Aside from my submission, I like the idea of Breloom, Darmanitan/Victini or Double Dance Haxorus as a CCAT focus.

I would really like tosee Drifblim get some love. It is incredibly wasy to set him up and begin sweeping/cleaning up.

Drifblim@Ghost Gem
Trait: Unburden
EVs: 252 SpAtt/252 Speed/4 HP
-Shadow Ball
-HP Fighting
-Thunderbolt
-Calm Mind

'tis quite simple really. Shadow ball SOMETHING (or if you can predict well, cm will work as well) to get the gem boost and double blim's speed. Now you can beat anything from jolly max speed Deo-s down. Get a few cms in and you have a pokemon with very nice offences, bliatering speed, and a good coverage... just from a turn of easy setup!

Some underated chlorophyll sweepers.

Sawsbuck@Life Orb
Nature:Adamant
EVs: 136 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 116 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Return
-Horn Leech
-Nature Power

Set up Swords Dance and start sweeping. Return is a STAB move to hit everything that doesn't resist it. Horn Leech is secondary STAB and can also restore health. Nature Power becomes Earthquake and hits Steel types. Sawsbuck also has a base 95 speed so is somewhat useful in case sun isn't up.

Lilligant@Leftovers/Life Orb
Nature: Modest/Timid
EVs: 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
-Quiver Dance
-Sleep Powder
-Giga Drain
-Hidden Power Fire/Rock/Ice

Sleep an annoying Pokemon and Quiver Dance as they try to wake up/switch. Giga Drain is primary STAB and can also recover damage. Hidden Power's type depends on what we need to hit: Fire for Steels, Ice for Dragons and opposing grass types, and Rock for Fires.

Swords Dance Bisharp:

625.gif

Bisharp @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Sucker Punch
- Brick Break / Iron Head

Sucker Punch is super powerful, KOing almost everything on offensive teams that don't resist it. It may be a bit unreliable, but with Substitute forcing them to attack, it does the job. He works so well, because lately heavy offense teams have become more and more common, to being the most common playstyle and they are easily 6-0ed by this guy. (I speak from experience.)

What about this forgotten Gen IV OU staple?

145.gif

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Bold
EV's: 248 HP / 228 Def / 8 SpD / 24 Spe
Moveset:
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- Thunder Wave / HP Ice
- Roost

Zapdos has been pretty quiet this generation, but with Thundurus gone from the metagame (and to an extent Excadrill), Zapdos can actually do some really nice damage against quite a few threats, including the JelliThorn combo, Rain-based teams that use Pokemon like Tornadus, Scizor, and other OU threats. Zapdos has a lot of versatility, being able to threaten opponents with powerful Thunderbolts while also healing off damage and spreading out status. Heat Wave, at least in my opinion, is necessary to overcome things like Ferrothorn. The choice between Thunder Wave and HP Ice comes down to whether the team can tackle Dragon types or not, and if Thunder Wave is important for the team.

It still has its share of problems (Blissey/Chansey, Stealth Rock, Tyranitar, etc.), but with certain threats gone and good team synergy, this should make for a good core pivot.

If were are going to do Bisharp, please, please use Night Slash instead of Substitute. Night Slash lets Bisharp just outright destroy Jellicent instead of being walled effortlessly. It also helps against Reuniculus and other bulky Ghost- and Psychic-types. Taunt could also work becauseit allows Bisharp to easily set-up on stall teams, but I believe Night Slash is better. Bisharp should also be running 60 Speed Evs at the least to outrun specially ddefensive Heatran.

Forgotten but effective pokemon? There is one that has fallen out the limelight, he was voted on a few times iirc, but in recent times he has been very quiet, dropping down the usage charts quickly and falling into obscurity. But a unprepared team will quickly find themselves ripped apart by him. I'm talking of course about...

Offensive Trickroom Reuniclus

reuniclus.png

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability:Magic Guard
Nature: Quiet
IV's: 0 Spe
EV's: 192 HP / 64 Def / 252 SpA
Moveset:
- Trick Room
- Psychic / Psyshock
- Focus Blast / Hidden Power Fire
- Shadow Ball

My all time favourite OU pokemon. He boasts great special attack, good bulk and the best ability in the game. Thanks to magic guard he takes no notice of weather, entry hazards, or his Life orb recoil, giving his attacks that extra boost for free. Magic guard also helps him shut down stall completely as he is not taking residual damage every turn. HO offensive teams are also countered by this pokemon as he steals there momentum rather easily with trickroom.
He is not without his flaws, depending on what 4th move you chose, he is countered by either Scizor and Jirachi or Tyranitar, which is why team support to get these threats out the way is essential. He also appreciates entry hazards like all sweepers to help turn all those 2HKO's into OHKO's

Azelf

Azelf has been such an under-rated sweeper throughout 5th Gen. It's capability is outstanding if used wisely. Once you support this beast well the game is yours. It has the power to tear apart various stall teams with an ease. During the 4th Gen it was an amazing pokemon but 5th Gen made it look weak. It's stats and ability are perfect for him to sweep an entire team.

Azelf_Artwork_by_Xous54.png

Azelf @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP | 252 SAtk | 252 Spd
Nature: Timid (+Spd, -Atk)
Moveset: Nasty Plot | Fire Blast | Psyshock | Hidden Power [Fighting]

This set is self explanatory. Timid nature to maximize it's sweeping abilities, with 252 Speed it reaches about 361 which is really good in the metagame at the moment. It can easily outspeed it's various counters and OHKO them after. Max Special attack and Life Orb are there for more power, at +2 Azelf becomes deadly. Nasty Plot is what makes Azelf a complete monster, Fire Blast is for those annoying Steel Types, Psyshock shits on Blissey, Chansey, CM users. Hidden Power Fighting deals with Tyranitar, Heatrans. In order to support this monster Hazards are must. Azelf ain't playin' any games bitches
