Posada is indeed a good player. No doubt about that. He has been a solid figure in the Yankee lineup since 1998, and I hate him for that, but I've always respected him for that. He was a well thought of player in baseball up until last year, as his handling of being benched was pathetic. He has indeed been a great player, but is he truely a hall of fame catcher?
I personally don't think he is. In 17 seasons, he has only has 5 all star appearances, a career average of only .273, 275 career home runs, 1065 RBIs, and 1664 hits. His defense and game calling was nothing to write home about, so he doesn't have that really going for him. He's definatly an above average catcher, but he should not be in the Hall of Fame. He is not on the level of all time greats like Fisk, Berra, Bench, Campanella, and Josh Gibson. Guys like Pudge and Mike Piazza are way better represenitaves of a hall of fame catcher than Posada.
