Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Not sure that it is the appropriate thread, but if it isn't, please direct me to another subforum...

How many RNGs are there in HG/SS? I know that there is one at 021D15AA that affects PIDs and IVs (PRNG), however when I try to play Voltorb flip mini-game, the frames do not advance at all. Is there another RNG that affects this particular mini-game?

There's another RNG that is only used for eggs (well that's the only use that I know for it) although calling Joey advances that by 2 as well...

I'm getting a feeling of deja vu...

You'll probably want to take a look here too; it'll help your Voltorb flip game research.

Yes, I am an idiot and didn't notice "Mersenne Twister" words.

Sorry, I'm just getting used to Gen 4 (not mention that there is brand new gen 5).

what's the method for headbutt pokemon and honey trees? Is there any place I can find encounter slots for them? thanks.

For headbutt pokes it's Method K, and the encounter slots depend on the tree itself (I'm not sure if there's a list of them anywhere)

As far as I know there aren't encounter slots for Headbutt trees. Also be aware it is Monster Frame 3 instead of the usual 2 for captures in grass.

Honey trees are just like other wild captures in DPPt, Method J, monster frame 2. The hard part is getting the right species to show up, the RNG abuse part is the same as grass.

This doesn't exactly follow the OP's question guidelines, but I didn't know where else to ask this:

I'm doing my first HG RNG, using bearsfan092drums's video as instruction. I'm using the latest version of RNG Reporter. I go to 'Find Seed by IVs', type in Bold, with a spread of 31/31/31/30/31/31 (search is "Open", "Frames below 10000" is checked off). I decided to go with seed 730004C2/frame 31/0 sec/ 1206 delay. Most of the delays listed are even, but my calibrated delays are all consistently odd. The soonest odd one is on frame 248 :(.
I decide to keep going anyway into "Seed to Time", use 2012 as the year and plug in the seed info for HGSS, with a seconds value of 50. All the dates and times have a delay of 1206. From what I know, delays are always consistently odd or even, and this depends on the year. My DS year is 2012, and when I reset, I get consisently odd delays, even though the program gives me even results. Am I missing a step, or do I just have to suck it up and go with the odd result that means I need to hit a frame above 200?

Confirmed that approaching Lance in his room while using the radio RNG trick does, in fact, advance the frame by 1.

[edit] Yep, indisputable. Just caught my desired Latias spread following this principle (after adjusting EonTimer).

^ that's odd as it's never advanced 1 for myself. Did you have no roamers? If that's the case the game has to advance 1 to pick a route for the incoming Latios/latias(where as if you have one already it doesn't). The other possibility is you tripped the step counter(doubtful as you probably have more than 1 pokemon).

In conclusion I highly doubt that it advances 1 as a result of walking to lance

Well, I can't excactly replicate the result for you, all I'm saying is what happened.

Also, yeah, no other roamers. I caught Raikou and Entei for sport before I knew they were vital. Maybe that had something to do with it, yeah.

But what do you mean "tripped the step counter?"

I'm trying to hit a delay of 601 in HG, and I know the roaming NPC can sometimes cause the frame to skip 1 2 or 3 frames. When I sometimes input the elm calls, they match up to a delay but it seems that either the 1st or 2nd Elm Call is skipped sometimes (E.G. I hit E, P, K, P, E, E, P, K, K, K, K, P but my calls were K, P, E, E, P, K, K, K, K, P)
This means that the first two calls were skipped right? just making sure of things

But what do you mean "tripped the step counter?"

Every time you walk 128 steps, your frame advances by the number of Pokemon in your party. So if you did have only one Pokemon with you, that could have been it. But like Zoap said, you probably didn't bring one Pokemon.

But if you had more than one Pokemon with you, then it couldn't have been the step counter. And if it wasn't the step counter, I have no clue what it was. Maybe the game had to make a call to the RNG to determine Latias' route, like Zoap said. But that wouldn't explain why Zoap and I didn't experience this advancement.

Another quick one:

Does walking in and out of Lugia's cave advance the frame by one in the same way as the Embedded Tower?

[edit] Aaaaand. . . never mind.

They're all Method 1. I'm not sure if they're all determined in a row like the Johto starters are or not but I doubt they are.

Okay.

So after numerous RNG successes in HG, I am now trying the same in Platinum. I lucked out with a frame 4 seed with a delay of 2083 (or 2084) for Heatran. I saved the game in such a way that the journal wouldn't pop up as I start my file. Typically, I miss my seed (quite a few times), and attempt to find out what I actually hit.

The big problem here is that many, many times I have tried this, both with even and odd delays, and every time it says my result was not found. Now I know for a fact that I wasn't that far off. What am I doing wrong? I hope that maybe I just slipped up while I was recording the flips.

[edit] I happen to know for a fact that I'm hitting odd delays, but for some reason all but maybe two of my results have come up empty, which is how I found out. I even gave the delays + and - 20. It also probably didn't help that I set my calibrated delay in EonTimer to 600. I'll try 400, see if that makes any difference.

[edit2] Nope.
