Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hi i'm fairly new to rng in 4th gen, i know how to rng in emerald & black/white rng and i have rng'd my wondercards and legends in diamond/pearl/platinum. (though i haven't attempted breeding yet) However i'm just about to start on rng'ing my heartgold soulsilver wondercards that i have on game-cart. I'm just after some basic advice i couldn't find many details on wondercards in heartgold/soul silver.
What is best way to start?
I think i have two roamers does this matter?
Would i need to calibrate my delay? Or just use wondercard helper?
Do i still use method 1 plus add 2 frames?
Finally i've read there is no journal or coin flips what would you suggest to advance frames and check seed? I think i read chatot advances frame by 1 in hg/ss
any help provided would be great

Are there any info how Trophy Gardens encounter slots go? If anyone knows I would like to know.

5th or 6th post down has the info for current and previous trophy garden pokes.

Best way to start for wondercards is using cerulean poke mart as there are no npcs. Roamers dont matter, just account for 2 frame advancements(1 for each roamer), or you can kill them off as they respawn once you Ernest the elite 4. If you're using a timer(highly recommend you use eontimer) calibration isnt necessary, if you've never used a timer I'd be happy to walk you through the steps to do so. If you wanna do it the old way of mashing in then yes you'll need to calibrate. Method 1+ 2 is right, although the new rngreporter now has a wondercard tab that takes the +2 into account. Assuming you've been to kanto, hatched the togepi egg+shown it to elm, and shown a pokemon with pokerus to nurse joy, you can use prof elm to confirm your seed like the coin flips did in DPPt. He will give a response of evolution(e), kanto(k) or pokerus(p) and you keep track of 9 of them to comfirm your seed. At the same time each call to elm advances the frame by 1. Viewing custom chatter chatot summary also advances the frame by 1. Calling youngster Joey when he isn't seeking a rematch advances the frame by 2. And finally the radio, with each show doing advances(post 2 shows which shows advance by how much), this though requires the kanto radio upgrade.

You can also use juggler Irwin the same way you use elm to confirm/advance(if you say aren't in kanto or lack pokerus).

I think that's it lol

I'm on a DSi. I don't remember this ever happening on SoulSilver, though.

Edit: For the record, it hasn't happened since yesterday evening, but it sure was annoying.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen on HGSS
If you're on a DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS, then in Platinum, delays will be strictly odd or strictly even since you can't switch from one to the other by inserting/removing a GBA game. In HG/SS, you change from one to the other by scrolling to the bottom of the menu before entering the game.

In addition to what Zoap said, you can also check your seed by looking at the map of roamers. Notice the "Roaming Pokémon Locations" text at the bottom of RNG Reporter; this tells you where each roamer will be on the map if you hit the correct seed. Whether you're doing this or using the Elm method, when you save the game before RNGing, make sure you check the boxes at the bottom for each roamer that is loose in your game, and input the route where it is at that time, as their positions when you save can affect the number of frames advanced when you load the game, and accordingly, your Elm responses or their new positions can be different. Of course, if you've already caught the roamers in your game, you can't use the map to determine whether or not you hit your seed, and I've heard that it is unreliable if you don't have all 3 out. If you do, then this method is by far the quickest.

While I've never used it, RadioSeed can also assist you in using the radio to both check your seed and advance the frame. A guide on it can be found in this post.

Cheers Zoap and Misdreavus that's a great help. Everyone on this thread has been really friendly and helpful. I feel bad about asking for help and not being able to repay you. I have some decent pokemon now and I know I can use glitch in emerald to make copies of my emerald rng pokemon. Is there anyway to copy them in 4th gen? I would make them freely available but I would like the original pokemon for myself. I would offer them in a giveaway but I'm unsure how to copy them myself thanks once again I will have a go at rng'ing my wondercards after work

To expand on what misdreavus said about roamers, in rngreporter they will almost always give you a false positive if your seconds are +/- anything other than 0. I've used two roamers for egg confirming and there were maybe 10 or so times they were incorrect(usually one on the correct route and another on a wrong but nearby route). This is why elm/Irwin are preferred espicially because you have no phone restrictions when doing wondercards.

Radioseed is an excellent program that I've used a few times, but one station for me(you can confirm with 2 different stations) never worked and of course I never remember which. It is also handy for tracking elm calls if you choose a huge frame(300+) locate what frame your on in about 6 elm responses.

Now as far as cloning goes, there is AR(most widespread way of 4th gen), copying the pokemon file via pokecheck/pokegen(ok but not really possible without an nds adaptor or ar) or pokecheck+ pokegts which you can upload a pokemon through wifi to pokecheck, download the pkm file and send it through pokegts or another fake gts.

You can do all this through pokecheck without the fakegts, but then you get ribbons which automatically tell people it came from pokecheck(you wouldnt be able to use said ribbon pokemon in VGCs because they come up hacked even if they aren't due to that ribbon).

I know all that, but there's no way to insert a GBA game on a DSi, so I'm wondering why this is happening. I also can't seem to find matching coin flips, so I have to catch the pokémon in order to determine my delay.

Is my Diamond cart broken?

Should I attempt to RNG for a perfect Red Gyarados, or is not enough known about it right now to find the correct spread/frame/delay?

If you want to you can. It's not that difficult! Like Voodoo said, it is Chained Shiny Theoretical. What you would do is find a Method K seed with the IVs you want, but search for any nature because the natures for Chained Shiny Theoretical are determined by your ID/SID. Then just plug the seeds into RNG Reporter and find one that gives you your wanted nature.

Doubtful, DPPt is just stubborn sometimes with delays. Quick question, where are you in game that your doing the coin flips. Also if it persist, post the seed you're aiming for and the flips you're actually getting.

No problem... happy to help out. There is a cloning glitch in D/P, but since it involves the GTS, it won't work on most WonderCard Pokémon (almost all of them have the Classic Ribbon, which prevents them from being uploaded to the GTS). It's a very tricky glitch to pull off too (usually takes me several tries).

Personally, I don't really have trouble with it. At the start of every new project, I Fly to Mt. Silver, catch a level 50+ Pokémon, and check my seed/delay/seconds that way. After doing this and adjusting my timer, I pretty much always hit my target seconds, so I don't bother searching adjacent seconds in RNG Reporter. I like this method because it's MUCH faster than calling Elm/Irwin up to 10 times. Most of the problems I've heard other people report are from not inputting the roamers' locations at the save, or from not having all 3 out (I kept all 3 out just so I could use this method). Occasionally I do get locations that aren't in the list for adjacent delays, but this also happens with the Coin Flip app in D/P/Pt. I just try again or find my seed by catching and checking IVs.

It's only Platinum that is dependent upon a GBA game. Diamond and Pearl fluctuate between even and odd regardless of a GBA game. Make sure you don't pass through the Happiness Checker app on your way to the Coin Flip app; that will throw you off. Where you do the flips shouldn't matter, as the results are a reflection of the IRNG, which isn't advanced by moving NPCs or roamers.

I know this might seem really dumb/random, but does Gen 3 Lottery Abuse exist? As in, get the number they pick to match a certain TID. Thanks for the response in advance.
The reality of my hope that exists is probably less than 1% .__.

I already finished RNGing what I really wanted (caught everything in Master Balls, I got sick of Diamond's RNG, never going back to it again), but I can try later with Giratina, which I'm still left to catch.

When I did get some results with the coin flips, I got the wrong delay from them when I caught the pokémon. I tried to catch Rotom, but I lack Rare Candies, and since Coin Flips don't work (plus, I have no rare candies there), I gave up on it.

Flawless Ditto? I am able to catch Ditto in Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, Platinum, and SoulSilver. Which one's best for acheiving perfection, more importantly how?

Well you can't get a flawless Ditto in 3rd gen, and in 4th gen, I'd say Platinum would be the easiest since there are no NPCs in the Trophy Garden.

I wasn't implying he should put +/- anything in the seconds, in fact I advocate 0 when using a timer, merely pointing out it could happen with +/- anything other than 0.

Sandstorm actually throws off the flips substantially, thats why I asked.

I'm sure it's possible, maybe ask omega/kaphotics or any of the other rng reseachers.

I'm really confused by this answer, are you saying that you never hit the right delay or that the ivs still didn't match the delay you thought you hit? Rare candies for what, I can always give you some if that's the case.

Like misdreavus said plat trophy garden is the easiest, though route 34 in HG/SS is where I caught mine(only one NPC). 47 is also a possibility but I'm not sure on the # of npcs.

Edit: rare candies aren't necessary with no npcs, you'll know what delay you hit and a range of frames you are in. Along with nature and iv calculators it should be easy enough to determine if you hit your correct frame

I flipped the coins and when comparing the sequence, the ones RNG Reporter showed didn't match the seed that I determined by catching the pokémon. In the case of Rotom, it's level 15, so in order to determine the seed I would have needed to level it up, and I don't have Rare Candies in that save because I went through the game as fast as I could just to be able to catch the legendaries exclusive to Diamond.

Oh, okay... I didn't know that (never RNG'd in Sandstorm).

I'm going after a Zapdos in SS on frame 551. What's the best way to advance the frame that far? Should I just use Chatters? Should I linger for awhile on the route before the Power Plant, let the NPCs there advance the frame, go up to Zapdos, find my frame with the phone or radio, and advance it the rest of the way?

I would bring 2 Chatots and flip between them to advance the frame just because I like to have control over the frames. You could use the NPCs but it seems like more of a hassle Imo. But I would never aim for a frame that high, so Idk if NPCs would be faster. But I think Chatters are the fastest, most consistent way.

If this is in SS, there shouldn't be any NPCs on zapdos's route, so chatters would probably be the best way after finding your frame with phone/radio.

I'm trying to get a flawless ditto. I clicked on time finder chose capture, set the year to 2012 set the minimum delay to 609 and maximum to 1200 chose method j set nature as timid (no synchronizer) set all IVS to 31 and checked the shiny only box, put ID: 13339 SID: 16434, and clicked generate. So far it has searched through < 1.1 × 10^7 frames and hasn't found anything. Is this expected? Will it find it eventually? Did I set my demands to high? Did I mess up?

Edit: Set year to 2012

No you didn't mess up. Iirc (I could be wrong), in Gen 4 there's not flawless Timid spread unless you use a Synchronizer. So if you set it to no synchronizer, you're not going to find the seed.

Edit: Wait, how are you setting it to no synchronizer? Time Finder doesn't have an option for searching for a specific required lead.

Ok, how do I attach an image that is not a url? So I need to get a synchronizer. Not too hard.
