Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Is it the roaming latias or the enigma stone one in pewter? If it's the enigma stone one the NPCs are most likely messing your frame up. Post the exact calls you get from elm the next time you try, along with the nature and IVs like you did this time. 10 may be too low a frame but we'll see after the next trial run(remember to mash into the menu and mash out to encounter latias

Does anyone know why the Regis, in Ruby, are generated using Method FOUR on an emulator? I've tried several times, changed my timing, disabled cheats, and nothing really changed. I finished the E4 and unlocked the caves legitly, since I couldn't find warp codes. (I know that they're supposed to be Method 1 since I've RNGed them on a real Ruby cart hundreds of times already.)

So did you catch a different pokemon besides rotom(and determined the seed that way?). I'm still really confused as all I ever do(in non NPC areas) is flip coins and see if I hit my delay. If I did then I advance to the necessary frame. I dunno what all this catch a pokemon to confirm your seed nonsense is, but maybe I'm misunderstanding.

If you know that you hit your delay(via coin flip confirmation) then it shouldn't be too hard to find out whether you got the right rotom(regardless of level 15) with nature, IV calculators and characteristic.

No, dude, when I was up against Heatran, I flipped the coins, entered the sequence in RNG Reporter, then RNG Reporter gave me a specific delay far from my target, I then proceeded to catch Heatran and found out the coin flip sequence indicated a different seed and that I was actually close to my target delay. I've never had this much problem with SS because the calls I make to Elm always match what RNG Reporter finds and delays are consistently odd or even.

I'll go after Giratina later to further test this, but so far coin flips don't work at all, regardless of whether I start counting from the first flip or the coin's side with which I started. I gave up on Rotom because I couldn't narrow down its IVs due to its low level. I also had an inconsistent starting frame which didn't help at all. Sometimes it was even, and sometimes it was odd.

Is there a reason my Sweet Scent wouldn't work in a cave?

EDIT: I gave it a go. Went for a Brave Absol on frame 11735. I got a Serious Oddish with IVs that didn't match any frames from 11775 down. What could I be doing wrong? Not hitting the times perfectly?

No, Sweet Scent should work in a cave.

Wild Pokemon are generated using Method H, not Method 1. Change the method in the main window to Method H-2 (that's the most common on Emerald) and find a frame you want to hit. Then try again! :)

Weird. IDK why it won't work in the cave by Dewford or Victory Road then.

I was using method 2 because of this
Under the banner of wild Pokémon, there are three main subcategories: "Sweet Scent", Fishing, and Rock Smash. The former two are relatively easy to manipulate, whereas the latter is highly impractical. Regardless, they are all generated by method 2 (for the most part), so they should share the same spreads. Here is a list of useful method 2 spreads to help get you started

This statement is wrong?

Should it have found something by now, did i do something wrong?

It should be working there, Idk why it's not.

It's not wrong, it's just outdated. :P

Why are you using an old version of RNG Reporter? Use 9.94, it searches MUCH faster.

Where can I download this better version? The dppt rng guide only links to 8.31.

Edit: Never mind, stopped being lazy and found it.

Ah alright :P That means those seeds are no longer viable? Because I looked at the same frames on Method H-2 and they weren't the same. Where can I look at available seeds.

I think they're still hittable, but I'm not sure how. I would just stick to looking at method H-2 for hittable frames (the most common. If you don't find a frame the matches the IVs you got on Method H-2, then look on Method H-4. If you don't find a matching frame there, look on H-1. If you don't find a frame there, look on Method 4).

Is it 9.94 BETA? What encounter slot is trophy garden ditto? Do I click on time finder or do it on the main page?
Edit: I'm extremely confused with the new format and all and with this http://www.smogon.com/ingame/rng/dpp_rng_part4 not saying encounter slot once.

Didn't they already tell you that? I didn't even ask your question and I still remember the answer they gave you was that Ditto will take up slot 5 and/or 6. Try to pay more attention :)

Click on time finder to find your seed and set it to search for slot 5 and 6.

I always preferred the radio, but that's just me. That post says 14-18 but I believe it's outdated and it's actually 13-14. In your case, where you need 551 frames, the way I would have done it was by making 551/14 (or one less to be safer) "flips" and then making Elm calls the rest of the way. I never used Chatots at all in 4th gen. I know this is a more reckless way of doing it, but it worked for me. If you want to be more safe then definitely Chatots, but it will take much longer.
Thanks for the tip; I think I'll try that.

9C0716A5 has a frame as low as 68 and the delay is in the 5000s. Also if you don't care about the HP IV being 30 instead of 31 (still yields HP Ice 70) then there are a bunch of low frame and low delay spreads. But if you decide to use this high frame seed, that works too! Gl.
Thanks. I hit my target seed last night, and I believe I did the frame advancements slowly but properly with Elm/Chatot, but I messed up and KO'd Zapdos (I was very tired and misclicked :p). Since I already have the adjusted timer from when I hit it, I'm going to stick with that same seed and try Exploits' method.

When did I ask this besides 3 hours ago?

So I've found something on encounter slot 5. Do I verify my seed with coin flips? Or will that mess it up? Do I just flip between two captured Pokémon journal pages 42 times to get to frame 86 then use sweet scent and hope I got it? Do I enter the game do coin flips to verify my seed, then do journal flips? Will Ditto always be in slot 5?

Does anyone know where I can get a list of the first ~20000 frames in Emerald along with either their seeds or the SIDs they yield? It would greatly help in terms of RNGing for an SID.

edit: never mind, I did it myself with kaphotics' lua script lol

edit2: never mind again, the seeds turn out different every time even if they're on the same frame...ignore this post lol

I don't get timers at all. Why does the calibrated delay affect the time shown on the clock? I just want to know how long I have to wait to hit a delay of 637 on the second of 14. I don't see how my past results affect it. Please help

Calibrated delay is a combination of your system's start-up lag, your own reaction time, and other stuff like that, so it will vary slightly from person to person. But unless you get a new DS or change the way you hit it or something like that, it should be consistent from one attempt to the next, which is why you can use past results.

I'm finding a seed in PokeRNG, but when I put it into RNG Reporter the frame isn't matching up with what PokeRNG.

PokeRNG is telling me that with a synch, it will be frame 559. But on RNG Reporter the only frames nearby that match are 558 and 564. My ID/SID is right. I have the correct synch put in.

Any ideas what's wrong? I can't remember this happening before, so any help is appreciated.

Edit: OK, RNG Reporter 9.93 is showing it as 559, but 9.94 is 558 or 564. I guess some new feature was implemented or something?

Can I ask someone with working Excel macros to find a few shiny frames from this spreadsheet for an ID/SID combo of 7521/64397? I'd like to find shiny Sassy and Hasty frames.

Why does that affect the timer though?
