Thunder isn't reliable on ferrothorn because there isn't anything that it can threaten with it. It misses a 2hko on physically defensive skarmory, so it really has no utility whatsoever.
thunder was suggest explicitly because it allows for a chance of paralysis regardless of taunt. It isn't there for damaging, the utility is in 30% chance to paralyze.

Just the other day I was breeding my male Calm natured Vaporeon holding an Everstone with a female Eevee, and I ended up getting 4 Calm Eevees in a row.All natures are equally likely. But if the female Pokemon is holding an Everstone it has a 50% chance to pass its nature to the new pokemon

Would there ever be a reason to use a neutral nature (Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Quirky, Serious) or a Gentle (+SpD -Def) or Lax (+Def -SpD) nature for any Pokemon?
Or would there always be a better option?
^ Even mixed walls like Arceus and Swampert would rather sacrifice some speed than give up a 10% increase to a stat.
I just got my hands on a Sassy Ferrothorn. Any good EV spreads I should use for it in OU?
