Diamond or Pearl?

Just wondering which you guys preferred. I realize that all Pokemon are available easily with trading, so don't make any points about that. I was just wondering which version you guys think had the best "exclusive" Pokemon, along with my thoughts.

I'll give the Diamond Pokemon and their Pearl "equivalents", then my thoughts.

Diamond: Dewgong family vs. Pearl: Slowbro family

Eh...I think Slowbro's more versatile. There's nothing Dewgong can do that Slowbro can't, and Slowbro's actually pretty useful as a tank. Somewhat.

Diamond: Scizor family vs. Pearl: Pinsir

Scizor definately. It's actually more useful in D/P, since it gets a wider movepool.

Diamond: Murkrow family vs. Pearl: Misdreavus family

Ehh...not sure. I'm going with Misdreavus because it looks cooler.

Diamond: Ttar family vs. Pearl: Salamence family

Again, hard to say.

Diamond: Mightyena family vs. Pearl: Houndoom family

Houndoom.

Diamond: Rampardos family vs. Bastiodon family

Bastiodon, since it could potentially be a somewhat useful tank. It's outclassed by Skarmory, though.

Diamond: Skuntank family vs. Purugly family

Neither. They're ugly.

Diamond: Dialga vs. Pearl: Palkia

Palkia since it has more resistances, as well as not having a weakness to ground.

Misc:
Diamond: Aggron family
Pearl: Walrein family
Diamond: Kecleon
Pearl: Stantler

I prefer Diamond's miscellaneous Pokemon here.

IMO, all of the exclusives suck, except for Slowbro and Salamence and Tyrannitar. I would say they are both tied

It really doesn't matter though.

Has trading been mentioned? You can trade. Trading is cool.

Also, dialaga looks cooler, yet people say palkia is more useful.

Do what I do: Get both, don't play diamond, use the dialga stylus to play pearl. Problem solved!

I just picked the version with the version exclusives that I happended to like. ( picked Pearl ) Like others have stated, you can trade to get all of the other pokemon anyway.

Well, if you bothered to read the first paragraph,

"I realize that all Pokemon are available easily with trading, so don't make any points about that. I was just wondering which version you guys think had the best "exclusive" Pokemon, along with my thoughts."

>_>

But thanks for your input, I suppose.

I guess your right its not much of a difference, The only other reason i can think of besides version exclusives is the cover of the box and the design of the actualy game. Thats why I would rather choose diamond because of how the game looks visually.

Bastiodon's pretty rubbish, I think.

Not pretty rubbish, it IS rubbish. Even Aggron is more useful, because it can at least fight. All Bastiodon can do is sit there and attempt to tank while Heracross and everything else under the sun OHKOs it with Close Combat and Earthquake and pretty much any other fighting/ground move.

The left column is Diamond, and the right column is Pearl.

Dewgong v. Slowbro/king
Dewgong sucks, plain and simple. Slowbro is a decent bulky water with Fighting resistance.

Scyther/Scizor v. Pinsir
This is a tough one. I have to say that I favor Scyther's speed, and also Scizor's defensive typing over Pinsir.

Honchkrow v. Mismagius
While Honchkrow does look cool and all, Mismagius gets the prize because of its high Speed and Specials and sweeping potential.

Tyranitar v. Salamence
Though this is similar to comparing apples and oranges, Tyranitar wins this matchup because of the fact that there is no concrete counter for its Choice Band set outside of Groudon and some Arceus, and not even Groudon is that concrete. They are both excellent Pokemon and very versatile...

Mightyena v. Houndoom
I don't need to explain this.

Aggron v. Walrein
They both are stuck with rather bad typing, but Aggron's quadruple resistance to Normal and Flying, as well as the general resistances that come with being a Steel type, is better than Water/Ice.

Kecleon v. Stantler
Both aren't very good, but Stantler wins through Frisk, which has both a funny name and high potential due to the variety of viable items in D/P.

Rampardos v. Bastiodon
Rampardos packs a hell of a wallop. Bastiodon is even bigger bait than Umbreon for metagame threats, and you know how I feel about Umbreon.

Skuntank v. Purugly
Skuntank is a pretty nice attacker and Aftermath is great; free damage is always good. Purugly is a retarded Persian, who is a retarded Tauros.

Dialga v. Palkia
They both have their own uses. Dialga offers Normal/Flying/Ghost/Dark/Bug resistance, while Palkia is absolutely terrifying when used in conjunction with Kyogre. Do you want something more defensive or offensive? Do you want resistance and weakness to lots of common attacks, or do you want neutrality to lots of common attacks? Overall, I prefer Palkia.

The final score: Diamond 5, Pearl 5
However, I would have chosen Diamond if I could only choose one on the exclusive basis that Diamond has Tyranitar. Tyranitar's potential in the D/P metagame can't be overstressed.

Well, I chose Pearl just because of Palkia. I prefer him over Dialga, and the other exclusives... Hell, GTS/Advance games for the win ._.

It also depends on which of the exclusives you intend to breed moves on to: if you're intending to use a CBTar, you can just trade for a competitively IV'ed Larvitar. Salamence, however, requires specific breeding if you want to go with the Choice Specs set, which needs HP Ground or Hydro Pump.

Diamond: Murkrow family vs. Pearl: Misdreavus family

Ehh...not sure. I'm going with Misdreavus because it looks cooler.

Diamond: Skuntank family vs. Purugly family

Neither. They're ugly.

wow, such greath in-depth analysis there...

and rampardos >> bastiodon, easily. there are better tanks out there than a bastiodon, even in other tiers.

I still find it weird there is no real (any?) storyline difference between the two games, whereas Ruby/Sapphire had quite a big difference.

Yeah, only reason there are 2 games is because of Palkia and Dialga imo, just another way to Nintendo to rake in more money.

I picked Pearl mainly because I think Palkia's much more scary than Dialga competitively, and I already have great Tyranitars so need for that. Plus, I've yet to make an "elemence" in game and in D/P, it's really good now lol.

Well, yeah, they've always had at least two games for each generation. More money from the people who get both versions and encourages people to trade as well. It's not really a bad thing. Especially now that we have the GTS. If you want a version exclusive you can't get, it is now fairly simple to obtain, even if you don't know anyone nearby who owns a game.
