The Everything Eli Manning Thread - Overrated Edition

Valkyries I am just harsh on Manning because people will not shut the fuck up about him. A guy getting more rings than he deserves is nothing new. Brady and Ben both won rings while being mediocre quarterbacks. The guy is one season off from 31/25, and while being gifted an amazing receiver his next season is just about Derek Anderson's best season (-3 interceptions), so obviously absolutely anyone can have that sort of season while being allowed to chuck the ball. It is not a bad season, but people are citing some sort of turnaround that simply does not exist.

No, you said we are harsh on him because he is inconsistent...I am only harsh because people are absolutely fucking insane and will not shut up. If people knew he was "about the 10th best" I would never have to care :(

Oh god.. does anyone take this guy seriously or is he the Jerry Jones of this thread?

so obviously absolutely anyone can have that sort of season while being allowed to chuck the ball

No bro. Otherwise there would be no need for pass rushers in this league. Eli got to a point where his stats were better under pressure than while allowed to pass freely. Like in the SB where his passer rating actually increased while under pressure. What Eli did was special even in the grand scheme of things and most likely will never be replicated(based on how long the 4th quater TD record stood).

This right here proves you are either just a bias angry 'Boys fan or know nothing about football(take your pick). Comparing this Eli to Brady/BB back then proves how absolutely ignorant you are. Look at his playoff stats. Eli during the playoffs posted insane numbers. They look something like this: 9/1 1219 65% 103. While having the worst pass protection in the league(and by a wide margin). Those stats alone prove you have no idea what you are talking about. No need to add anything else.

The guy is one season off from 31/25

A couple of things.. Have you ever even watched a game of football? And second do you get all your stats from wikipidia and then make stupid ass arguments filled with homer rants? Look at the interceptions. A lot of them came from the receivers themselves. Though i don't expect you to do so because wikipidia doesn't provide that info. I won't defend Eli too much on this however, since he played bad. Just wanted to point out how your stats are misleading and you are completely oblivious to it. Moving on, have you heard the saying "what have you done for me lately"? The NFL lives and dies by that saying. Otherwise Peyton would still be a scrub for throwing 28 INTs his rookie year and LT(the lesser one) would still be the best RB in the league(due to the MVP). However, players improve/get worse constantly. You though are completely oblivious to that(i'm seeing a trend here). Eli had a better season than Romo, Rivers and Schaub. And because of that you can make an argument that he is better than all of them. Homers like you who have no clue how the game works will go to wikipidia and look at past season stats to try and prove that they are still better. Even though 2011 says otherwise. If i was that dumb i'd try to prove LT was better than Arian Foster.

but people are citing some sort of turnaround that simply does not exist

Now i'm questioning your understanding of the English language. Is going from 31/25 to 29/16 not a turnaround? Yeah but you watched every snap Eli took and came to a conclusion he was the same right?

And dude, you ignoring me only proves you have the mentality of an 8 year old spoiled brat. It's the internet brah, not everyone is drinking the same type of kool aid as you. Not everyone will agree with your ESPN-worthy shallow crap.

THIS IS A POST WITHOUT THE NAME OF A CERTAIN QB IN IT

FIRST IN TWELVE PAGES

new topic please, for the love of all that is holy...

Lets talk about who we think will emerge as the best backs in the NFL this season. If i were to pick the top 5 rushers TODAY my list would look like this:

1.) Arian Foster
2.) Darren McFadden
3.) Ray Rice
4.) Maurice Jones-Drew
5.) Ryan Mathews

thats right, I think DMC will play at least 14 games this season, which should be enough for him to get 1400+

who is ryan mathews?

1. Maurice Jones-Drew
2. Arian Foster
3. Ray Rice
4. Shady McCoy
5. Cam Newton

I hate Adrian Peterson with a passion, but is he suffering from an extended injury or something? The guy is still better than anyone else but Arian Foster.

yeah I'm not sure how you can leave AP off this list. He is the best and probably will be for at least 2 more years.

1. Adrian Peterson
2. MJD
3. LeSean McCoy
4. Ray Rice
T5. Arian Foster and Fred Jackson

Not really sold on Foster, as I am pretty sure their amazing O-Line and zone blocking scheme makes it very easy for him to thrive.

MDD will be top rusher because he's playing for the Jaguars and Mike Mularkey. That's a 1500 season right there easy!

Shocked at the lack of Cam Newton in the top 5s outside of mines

Also, how could you hate Adrian Peterson. Is it because you went to Texas and he went to Oklahoma? :s

This talk of rushers is boring. I'll go back to lurking until that Cowboys homer starts with his rants.

Oh and having Newton as a top 5 rusher is not a bad thing. If he plays it smart he could become Rodgers2.0.

I went to Texas, Adrian Peterson annihilated us in seasons where it was pretty much "UT or OU are going to go to the national championship, whoever wins", and one of my girlfriends had sex with him in high school and who wants an athlete's sloppy seconds >:(

Haha love the title! It brings a tear to my eye knowing Eli gets some recognition. Though does that mean i decide where this thread goes next? I'm not sure i'm ready for that kind of power DM.

It means DM bans you. From the Internet.

Even Vick at his best never crack top twenty in rushing yards. You need like a bare minimum of 1300 yards to have a reasonable shot at top five, not gonna happen with a QB. ;[

IDK if i trust AP coming off an ACL ,on the shittiest team in his division with 2 very strong run D's

MJD on shear attempts will get to have the rushing title. If we went by Rushing per attempt, Foster might actually have a chance at that one.

Well talking about yards alone, i'm surprised no one has mentioned Mr. 2K. Even in a down year he had good stats. Plus he is the only back who might get more carries than MJD.

CJ2K doesn't belong on any of my lists because he's a huge overpaid arrogant brainless (BAN ME PLEASE) quitter.

Best RB tandem in the league? Or best backfield in general?

Everyone forgets Action Freddie Jackson was right behind MJD in yards (and I think he actually led in YPG) before he got injured last year. Everyone who has him in their top 5 lists gets a big thumbs up from me.

I can't see Ryan Mathews making that leap this year. Chargers will still be a pass-happy offense, he may be a big all-purpose back but as for straight rushing yards... nah.

Tolbert is too effective not to give a ton of touches to, or did they let him go? I do not really keep track of offseason moves too carefully. Either way Tolbert will always steal at least like 500 yards rushing, 200 yards receiving. The guy is way too effective not to utilize, it may hurt feelings or "hinder progress" but it reduces injury exposure (look at how the Bears and Raiders were just minus a RB let alone minus a RB and QB) and makes for more effective game planning. Ryan Matthews could still push up to as high as 1800 yards from scrimmage though seeing as he already got about 1100 and 450 with Tolbert getting about 500/400. If Tolbert is minimized to say 400/300 those extra yards are going to go to Matthews.
