As Superpowerdude lost interest in hosting this, he graciously allowed me too! Thanks!
As you can tell by the title, I am hosting the "Pokemon of the Week" for OU. You may have seen the UU, RU and NU varaints of this project. The aim of this project is to help newer OU players recognize viable Pokemon and sets, in order to aid them when team building. This is done by exploring and discussing a new OU Pokemon each week. If you are unsure what to discuss, here are some good guidelines;
- The Pokemon's place in the metagame
- Some viable sets of the Pokemon. Creative sets are highly encouraged, but no gimmicks please.
- Share your experiences with the Pokemon.

With the introduction of Thick Fat in BW2, Mamoswine's Dream Word ability, Mamoswine is now better than ever! Although Mamoswine's Snow Cloak was banned recently, it still is a greats Pokemon. Its Ice Shard picks off common Genies and Dragons, and its Earthquake is pretty scary! The introduction of the new Therian formes with Black and White 2 made Mamoswine an even better option for many teams, especially ones needs a revenge-killer for the common Therians. It's such a hard Pokemon to check, even with something that resists Ice Shard. If you can predict your opponent correctly as they switch in an Ice Shard resist, Starmie for example, while you Earthquake, goodbye Starmie!
Reuniclus
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 110 HP / 65 Atk / 75 Def / 125 SpA / 85 SpD / 30 Spe
Abilities: Overcoat / Magic Coat / Regenerator

Whether Reuniclus is breaking stall, a playstyle that has gained popularity with the banning of Genesect, with Calm Mind or destroying balanced and Hyper Offensive teams alike with a Trick Room set, this fetus is a lot more fearsome than its teletubby-esque sprite may suggest. Even though its typing is sub-par, its incredible ability, decent bulk, and amazing special attack make up for it. Tyranitar and Scizor are still common as ever, but even with such common checks and counters Reuniclus still manages to be a devastating threat in the BW2 OU metagame. What sets do you prefer and what kind of teams do they work in for you? How have you utilized Reuniclus?

The biggest haxer in OU is now the Pokemon of the Week! Jirachi is one of the most versatile Pokemon in the tier, and it performs all of its sets wonderfully. Its infamous Body Slam and Iron Head ParaFlinch combination coupled with Serene Grace makes it a formidable Special Wall, whilst it's a fantastic sweeper as well, especially in rain, utilizing moves like Thunder(bolt) and Water Pulse. Jirachi can even perform a Scarf set well. Instead of revenge killing its enemies.. well.. it haxes them.
Scizor
Type: Bug / Steel
Base Stats: 70 HP / 130 Atk / 100 Def / 55 SpA / 80 SpD / 65 Spe
Abilities: Swarm | Technician
Type: Bug / Steel
Base Stats: 70 HP / 130 Atk / 100 Def / 55 SpA / 80 SpD / 65 Spe
Abilities: Swarm | Technician
Notable Moves:
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Bug Bite
- Swords Dance
- Pursuit
- Quick Attack
- Iron Head
With the banning of its fellow (good) iron bug, Genesect, Scizor can finally retake the stage as one of the premiere offensive Steels in OU. While Scizor's base stats, 500 overall, may seem underwhelming, its true boon is found in its ability and STAB's. A Steel-type STAB may seem underwhelming, but boosted by Technician and a massive 130 base attack, it actually is one of the most easily spammed moves in OU. U-turn is really makes Scizor what it is, however. It's a STAB that has a good base power and gives you momentum with good coverage, sign me up! Additionally, both these STAB's are walled by steels which it has Superpower for. Swords Dance makes it an effective set-up sweeper while a Choice Band makes it a great scout. Scizor is easily strongthf.

Having been one of the most gamechanging Pokemon of all time, the original weather inducer will be our new Pokemon of the Week! With Gen4 giving us Hippowdon and Gen5 giving us Ninetales and Politoed, Tyranitar has lost some of its original shine; however, it still has a few cool niches. First of all, it is easily one of the best Lati@S counters in the game. Sandstorm with its Rock-typing gives it another 50 base SpDef in Sand; one thing that shouldn't be overlooked. Additionally, Tyranitar tanks special hits much better than Hippowdon, making it more fit for this Specially-based metagame. Even though rain has taken over, is Tyranitar still good? Let's explore this Pokemon of the Week!
Ninetales
Type: Fire
Base Stats: 73 HP / 76 Atk / 75 Def / 81 SpA / 100 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Drought | Flash Fire
Notable Moves:
- Sunny Day
- Flamethower
- Fire Blast
- SolarBeam
- Energy Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power
- Hypnosis
- Nasty Plot
- Roar
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Rest
Ninetales is the Pokemon of the Week #13! Ninetales is simply terrible. It would be down in the depths of NU if it weren't for the fact that it's the only pokemon, other than its pre-evolution, that can setup permanent sun in OU. Can we find any use out of this seemingly useless kyuubi?
Kyurem & Kyurem-B
Gray = Kyurem only and Brown = Kyurem-B only
Type: Dragon / Ice
Base Stats: 125 HP / 130 Atk / 90 Def / 130 SpA / 90 SpD / 95 Spe
Base Stats: 125 HP / 170 Atk / 100 Def / 120 SpA / 90 SpD / 95 Spe
Abilities: Pressure
Abilities: Teravolt
Notable Moves:
- Ice Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Hone Claws
- Dragon Tail
- Focus Blast
- Roost
With the release of BW came the release of Kyurem-B, Kyurem's new forme. Although it was Uber originally, suspect testing determined that it is OU material. With its huge 170 base attack, great 120 base special attack, and great bulky couple with Roost, it is definitely a great Pokemon. Kyurem is no slouch either. Its ability, Pressure, allows it to SubRoost stall better than Kyurem-B, but Kyurem-B has Teravolt. Kyurem has lost a lot of luster due to Kyurem-B's unbanning, but is it worse?- Ice Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Hone Claws
- Dragon Tail
- Focus Blast
- Roost
Latias
Type: Dragon / Psychic
Base Stats: 80 HP / 80 Atk / 90 Def / 110 SpA / 130 SpD / 110 Spe
Abilities: Levitate
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Recover
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Healing Wish
- Psyshock
- Grass Knot
- Thunderbolt
- Surf
- Reflect Type
- Roar
- Wish
BW2 has drastically changed many player's thoughts on Latias. In BW1 if one wanted a Life Orb'd Lati@s they'd immediate use her brother, Latios; however, BW2's releases in abilities and Pokemon changed this. Keldeo, Special Landorus, Breloom, etc. now being released has made Latias a much more prominent figurehead in OU. With its unique typing coupled with fantastic Special bulk and great Special Attack, Latias is a powerhouse. Although she may be weaker than her brother, she comes with more bulk and a cool move in Healing Wish. Healing Wish gives you another sweeper on your team a second life, and can be gamechanging.
