Xbox One

I'm not really too much of an xbox fan but I think everything is a little exaggerated. There are still going to be great games. There's gotta be something to look forward to. Or better yet, nintendo might step up the wii u now that it's selling better.

Nintendo's already stepping up, this E3 they're gonna reveal a bunch of long-awaited titles. Or at least Smash 4, which is the only one that's gonna sell the thing to people who otherwise wouldn't get it.

I've been an avid Xbox fan for quite awhile now, but there is no way I'll be getting an Xbox One. All the reveal did for me was get my gears turning about the choice between ps4 and WiiU. The potential for a game changing pokemon title makes me lean towards the U, but I like my non portable gaming to be a little more... gritty? Anyway, the used game code garbage and the fact that it's a glorified DVR almost made me puke. Well done Microsoft.

What's happening to Microsoft? First Windows 8 is both shitty on both PC and phones, then xbox... i mean they were so cool before

Windows phone is actually a great platform and so is Windows 8. The Windows Blue update (8.1) is coming soon will make W8 even better. Unless you've used both platforms I'd recommend not talking about them. Too many people call W8 shit without actually trying it. It's not bad.

I haven't bought a WiiU yet but I will as soon as SMTxFE is released (there's no way Smash will be released before that)

I wouldn't be so sure. I'm not expecting SMTxFE until Q4 2014 / Q1 2015. Smash Bros may indeed release sooner, but we really can't start guessing launch dates until after E3.

I recall hearing that it was supposed to be Q4 2013 at the very earliest, but that was before the Sakurai delay. I'm thinking it's probably gonna be Q4 2014 / Q1 2015 like SMTxFE.

After Brawl's release fiasco I won't even trust a Smash release date given at E3, especially considering how little Sakurai has been working on it of the time that the game has been announced.

UI is too basic. No flexibility. WP is good if there's no android and ios running around. The 2 other platform are much better. Heck, I'll even take BB over WP anytime!

Furthermore, it's really hard to develop apps and games for windows phone. It's no wonder why many great apps are not yet on the platform.

To the topic, xbox one ain't designed for gamers anymore. I know the market is changing, but we still need a tool concentrated on gaming, just like 360, ps3 and all consoles before them...

It's like they added their own versions of bloatware.

Tough day to be an Xbox fan :'(

The only good parts were the ones where it said "Every Xbox One user has a broadband connection"

(I interpretted that as "Don't sweat the internet thing, we're giving you a connection!")

Edit: So you can use a mobile broadband to connect... K. I don't really move my Xbox around so this doesn't really matter to me. But the trading games thing was a killer.

And "The policy may change pre release"

Plzzzzzzzzz let sony be hiding all of the bad news... There's no way MS fucked up this bad on their own. They had to know people wouldn't like any of this. Right????

confirming the shit we already suspected. not surprised in the slightest. PS4 until proven worse.

I agree with Faint in regards to Windows and Windows phone. I've used both and enjoyed them a lot (although without a touchscreen I could see myself hating Windows 8).
In regards to Xbox One however, I think Microsoft got too caught up in the whole online cloud across screens thing they've been pushing and forgot they're selling a game system. Definitely not pickin one up.

The cloud in general is a really stupid fucking idea for the current times.

Way to blunder it up microsoft, you out blundered nintendo.

So...well if they're gonna be this restrictive, may as well just go full time PC gaming, with Nintendo on the side.

Microsoft Press Launch.
What a pile of steaming shit. Just about every bad rumor has been confirmed.

.
  • The console must connect to the internet once every 24 hours in order for you to play games. For many people, from military personnel to students, that's an inconvenience, maybe even an impossibility. Never mind what happens to everybody's console if Microsoft's servers ever come down.
  • The Xbox One will allow the sale of used games, at "participating retailers", but only if the publisher allows it. Publishers being the very people opposed most fiercely to used video game sales.
  • There are restrictions on how you can "give" and "loan" your games away. What's more, lending won't be available at launch, with Microsoft still "exploring the possibilities with our partners".

This is the biggest pile of steaming bullshit I've read in a long long time. Money minded, greedy and opportunistic.

can i just say all of you idiots are going to buy it anyway because halo
Why, Microsoft owns the franchise sure and it's not like 343 Studios has done a bad job, but Bungie (the original makers) are making Destiny, which'll be available for PS4. I'd much rather see what Bungie offers first.

Well, as of now 343 has a really great track record (near perfect Halo 1 remake, plus Halo 4 sans some matchmaking complaints), so I wouldn't count them out yet, especially seeing as Destiny is multi-platform.

Speaking of Destiny, the way its described seems like its going to actually require the always online functionality of the Xbox one, maybe this could be seen as a red flag for the as of yet unannounced internet requirements for the PS4.

Not to mention I never bought an XBox let alone a 360. I grew up a Nintendo man and am too poor to be buying every good vidja gaem for every console anymore. I'm sure as hell not getting this POS.

Contrary to what a lot of my friends think, I actually really like Halo 4 and think it's probably one of the best Halo games overall. I don't really like the reworked weapon distribution (finding the sniper rifle first in Halo 3's Sandtrap was always a bunch of fun) but everything else seemed like an improvement to me.

That said, Halo 5 will not be enough to convince me to buy an Xbox One. If they are stupid enough to make it One exclusive, then Microsoft will effectively be committing suicide with the franchise.

I have not used a Windows Phone, but I just got a laptop with W8 so here's my $0.02:

My problem with Windows 8 is not that it's a "terrible" OS. It's not that I think the interface is bad (In fact, I actually like the interface on tablets). It's because on computers that aren't tablets or otherwise touchscreen, the interface just doesn't work that well. To me, it just feels like you're using something intended for a touchscreen on something that isn't a touchscreen, and it just doesn't work. However, on touchscreen computers, it's fine. I can't see a similar interface working well on Xbox One, though.
