Super Smash Bros 4 (Spoilers ITT)

Edit: meh you know in retrospect, with all the artwork out there showing him with limbs, I can see it being a surprise fighter.

Also, if Tekken, Heihachi has to be it, he's like the iconic Tekken character at this point (not to mention probably having more cross platform fighting game exposure than even Yoshumitsu or Hwarang). Kazuya maybe if you need a more "definite" bad guy, but eh, all the Mishimas are evil these days, any can fill a villain role.

Isn't Jin like, the main character of Tekken or somethin? idk, whoever's Tekken's main character would be the ideal Tekken rep. Personally, I would want some nigga like Kuma or Steve Fox, but that wouldn't happen in a million fucking years.

I'm pretty sure it's still Jin, at least that's what Wikipedia is saying.

edit: Although, Sakurai said there aren't going to be many third party characters: http://kotaku.com/dont-expect-a-lot-of-third-party-characters-in-the-nex-513203533

edit 2: Also, Namco characters won't be getting priority: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06...ters-receive-no-priority-for-super-smash-bros (it's so cool how Sakurai just chatted with an interviewer about Pac-Man in Smash, he is so awesome).

On a semi-related note, it's good to see that Sakurai has learned how to not be cryptic/hired a better translator. I remember before this when there were massive arguments about deciphering his interviews.

There are many good arguments, you guys just don't want to hear any of them.

You mean like how you haven't addressed my argument about Ridley not being about size and how dumbed down and stupid that is? It sounds like the people opposed to Ridley are the ones who don't want to listen to any arguments, besides which who are you to rain on the parade of people who want to play as the character in a goofy fighting game where the story involves a giant hand playing with toys? This is the same kind of party pooping that caused people to argue against Phoenix Wright in MvC3, oh look, he got in.

I am looking at the list of fan suggestions, even narrowing it down to Nintendo only, for new characters, and it ain't pretty. Waluigi? Sure, but, that's how many Mario characters now? King K. Rool? Sure, but, you'd be putting him in for exactly the same reason we want Ridley. Geno, Midna, Daisy, Bowser Jr.? Then there's characters from RPGs that not a lot of people played. Another Fire Emblem character sounds fine, but most suspect that will come at the cost of an old one. Same with Pokemon characters. Shit like the possibility of Ridley not getting in is exactly why people bitch about Wii Fit Trainer. Hell, I honestly didn't even think much of the idea to put Little Mac in, but given the options, he's about as good as it gets.

Geno is a main character from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars. He has techniques such as Geno Boost, Geno Beam, and the infamous Geno Whirl, which can do 9999 damage to most enemies when timed right. It most likely won't happen that he gets into SSB4 due to the game also being made by Square (Enix), but with Wii Fit Trainer and Villager being in there, we'll never know.

Possible new priority system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6cC_plKqPUY

For those of you who weren't familiar with priority in Brawl, here's a quick rundown; When two hitboxes meet, it has different results depending on what move it is:
-When two ground moves collide, if neither do more than 9% damage, they clash. Clashing is when both moves collide but don't actually do anything to the opponent.
-When two ground moves collide and at least one of them does 9% or more damage, the stronger move has priority.
-When two ground moves collide and they both do the same damage, and that amount is at least 9%, they will trade (trade meaning both people hit each other).
-Aerials will always trade, even against ground moves.
-Items and projectiles are always considered ground moves.
-Specials (barring items and projectiles) differ depending on whether you're on the ground or in the air when the hitbox comes out.

I'm not sure how much damage Mario's F-air does, but the video clearly showed that Megaman's sword does 11% damage. This means that they didn't just give aerials the properties of ground moves. This also can't just mean that Megaman's sword is a projectile, because it would have traded with Mario's aerial. This could mean many things, such as:
-Megaman's sword is an exception to the rule (like Zero Suit Samus' forward B)
-Aerials now always clash, at least with each other
-They got rid of priority and made all colliding hitboxes clash
-This is alpha and they're gonna change it

Ridley is Godzilla-like in size?

Yeah, not even close to close. Ridley is as big as Giga Bowser, it wouldn't be a huge stretch to scale him down a bit and still be the biggest PC.

The precise size does not come into the picture in either Bowser's or Ridley's case; Ridley is supposed to be really fucking huge.
I'm obviously not saying that Ridley's size is all of what he is. However, it definitely is a large part of it. Samus vs Ridley is decidedly a David vs Goliath style rivalry, and that's not a bad thing, but as was already said, it seems they already made the decision in Brawl when they gave him the same status as Rayquaza. And honestly, treating that appearance as if it doesn't count is pretty insulting to other Brawl bosses like HA Porky and Rayquaza.

The argument isn't that they can't resize Ridley. It's that they likely won't because it would contradict the dynamic going between Samus and Ridley, in a way that really doesn't apply as well to Mario vs Bowser or Link vs Ganon. Hell, by a pure rivalry argument, I'd want Wily to be a PC, but logistically he's even more problematic than Ridley... If this were about, say, Groudon, the size argument against its inclusion would be readily accepted.

Again, all the bosses were big. I don't see this as being a big part of the character, or even any part of the character. And frankly Ridley is one of my all-time favorite villains, and I'd have to say he lends himself to fighting games more than any other character in Smash Bros, his in-game boss tactics are very reminiscent of high aggression fighting tactics. Done right, you could essentially make him VERY similar, and the end result would probably come out something like a bigger Meta Knight (but hopefully more balanced).

hey guiz. here's bowser:

here's bowser in super smash bros:
Melee-KoopaKlaw.png

:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it looks like they made bowser smaller so he would fit in the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here's an example of ridley from a metroid game:

SamusvsRidley.jpg

:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well gee it looks like it would be pretty simple to give him the same treatment they gave bowser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rocket science and quantum physics and shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

outside of the shitty size argument, it is utterly unfathomable to me that there are people that don't support ridley being in the next game. like seriously, its fucking weird.

No one gives a flying fuck about subspace emissary. Do we really have to keep in-canon with the subpar story mode with almost no story?

I mean shit there's no reason they can't just have a Giga Ridley show up. There's even a much used canonical explanation for it.

Oh wow, that /rule/ has already been applied to both Wii Fit Girl and the villager like, a couple hours after they were announced.

don't you love the internet?

I seriously doubt they will turn a boss from the game into a character
