We already know it has about 58 Base HP to Base 65 HP Max. 88 total HP at Level 32 but IVs may vary. It's a typical low-HP Ghost-type. Not quite Dusknoir bad but likely less HP than Banette. We're really banking on its defenses or speed being solid at this point since I don't think Shadow Sneak is going to save it if it's a slow glass cannon.

I edited the footage for you guys, also it is available to watch on your 3DS!
Just follow the description, it shouldn't be too hard.

All who gaze upon his visage, tremble with fear at The Next Great OU Wall

I would be incredibly pumped if Yveltal got a ridiculous life-steal move. That would definitely offset the rocks weakness; gonna kick some ass in Ubers.

IMO, Honedge with 105+ Speed, good attack stats and a set resembling the following:

Sword Dance, Shadow Sneak, Fighting Move, Support Move abusing No Guard

All that is needed.

Edit: I get it that a Steel/Ghost has been the living fantasy for stall players and seen as a messiah for that kind of playstyle especially after the HO assualt on the OU metagame this gen, and I sincerely hope there is an armor version with more bulk, but you don't need to be all gloomy about this.

Hey, now you got a spin blocker that not only kills spinners but possibly everything else. Guess what, high chance of getting taunt as well.

One thing that seems to be overlooked from the trailer are some of the new animations.

Anyone else notice how the Pokeball capture works? Three shakes, as normal - but the shakes get progressively smaller, as if the Pokemon is starting to get more and more tired. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, with different balls and even being unable to capture something.

Additionally, I was really impressed by how the Pokemon leave their Pokeballs. Froakie struck a pose, and Honedge unsheathed itself. So I guess I'm just impressed by all of the new features. My only concern is how unnatural the player looks when he stands still, like no breathing animation or anything. Hopefully they fix that.

I didn't think it was anything special at first, but after mentioning it MAN that's making me love the animations even more! It's like how it was in PBR but instead of while waiting for moves it's when they are sent out. Just imagine Infernape firing up his body (literally) when he enters, or Gliscor doing an backflip in the air, that'd be amazing. The thing that really sells me in animation is that you can change the camera. So if I were to upload a battle to YT I can simply have the camera angles stagnant when a move is made like it always has been, and maybe change it to the dynamic angles shown in the trailers whenever really good plays are made.

X AND Y COME OUT SOONER I AM DYING HERE.

I'll admit i'm mostly giving Honedge a hard time out of spite to the various people who claimed it would be so amazing to have this typing and the couple people who thought it would NEVER happen because it would be too good.
Was anybody else kind of disappointed by the graphical style of the most recent trailer?

Was there anything in specific?
I think it looks fantastic

I dunno, perhaps it's the way the grass looks in tandem with how awkward / barren that island does.

Every time I see the release of a new set of games, I always hope that the grass looks nice, but it always seems to look really bad in comparison to previous grasses. I don't get what is so hard about making grass that looks decent; animal crossing is able to do it (although that game is generally quite nice visually) and windwaker was able to do it years ago; why can't Pokemon make the grass be at least somewhat realistic looking? I mean seriously, would it kill them to make maybe 10 different models for grass so that routes at least look natural? It's ok for a texture to repeat in a sprite based game, I guess, but it looks really, really bad when you see a repeated string of those ugly grasses.

Jumping off of your Pokemon while using Surf looks really off as well (surf looks awkward in general... looks like they copypasted the wave thing from bw but did it rather shoddily). Again, animal crossing manages to make this type of action (getting out of water) look nice; it looks really strange here.

The battle scenes have always been really nice, though, so I have nothing to complain about there.

To be fair, it doesn't necessarily have to have amazing defenses to be a good spinblocker. A toxic-immune ghost with a cool type, good resistances, and high attacking stats / speed has a good shot of making it in this metagame with the right moves.

They'll have to offer something more than Shadow Claw or Shadow Sneak if it's going to be a speedy spinblocker a la Gengar. Physical ghosts generally have poor coverage, and if Dusknoir struggles with the elemental punches, I can't imagine how lackluster a sword is going to be. That said, I think there's an opportunity for it to redeem itself, but people should temper their expectations.

I loved the water battle surfaces on the beach. Those remind me of tide pools. I can't help but feel that was unintentional, though. Considering the grass on the islet battle we saw, it's more likely they didn't put emphasis on making the different parts of the environment gel.

Ah yeah I see

Well in fairness to gamefreak the grass does look nice in the foresty/plains areas. It could look a lot worse.
I didn't think the island looked THAT barren, but we didn't see a lot of it (time wise).
This is their first time putting together a pokemon world in 3d, so I can kind of give a pass on some roughness. It will be interesting to see how they improve as the series goes on in 3d

Orre, being in 3D (though made by another studio), looked stunning, especially in XD. Combined with the BW2 tendency to add in detailed background objects (see the BW2 exclusive locations, where there were decorations in buildings, tire tracks on roads, rakes and chalking equipment in Aspertia gym, and so forth), I think the games have potential to look fantastic.
On the other hand, adding in little details like that is a little more time- and storage space consuming in 3D, so it might not be just as detailed as BW2 was (see D/P compared to Emerald. The former two didn't get quite as much TLC as the latter).
I guess the inevitable third (and/or fourth) game in the XY engine will look prettier than X/Y, though, judging by past experiences (R/S to Emerald, B/W to BW2). The developers create the world in the first installment, and polish it in the subsequent ones.

A little disappointed by the surfing animation being so simple. But I guess how else could you show a surfing feebas among the infinite other surfers. I was also disappointed by the lack of physical contact in the attacks. After the very first froakie trailer showing it beating up a patrat up close, that quick attack animation seemed kinda lazy. But then again 800 mons having unique animations for all of those moves...maybe my hopes are too high.Fishing animation was cool though, hope there exists an old rod/good rod before e4 this time like all the gens except gen 5.

But one thing that people seem to forget is that not only is it 3D models, but also stereoscopic 3D as well. This gets me really excited to see battling with depth on my 3DS. That completely distinguishes it from colosseum/XD/battle revolution graphics.

I suspect the biggest reason attacks don't (for the most part, there might be a few exceptions) physically connect like in PBR is to keep the speed of battle brisk

Slow paced battles are one thing for console titles, but portable main lines should be faster (since you fight so many more battles). & it's been a complaint since DP about battle speed and since then they've made a strong effort to speed things up.

Yes, you're right about that. Even though you have the options menu to opt for not using attack animations to make battles faster, on wifi battles, it would be asynchronous with someone using attack animations leading to lag. Still, I'm hoping some of the stronger attacks have animations like brave bird (which looked absolutely amazing btw).

I was thinking about the grass patches this afternoon, I'm really glad that breh brought them up. From the beginning, I thought they were a bit interesting for having such distinct tiling. Seeing them somewhere outside of a grassy route/forest for the first time, the new grass patches look more surreal, or like something out of an art project, which I feel is a smart extension of their beauty theme. It's kind of weird to see each tile flower out into a nest-like shape that doesn't intermingle with the surrounding tiles to look like grass, but I think that this new design does two major things:
1. It sends a subconcious message that encourages you to go into the grass because its nested feel looks both inviting and secure.
2. Having each patch of grass open up at the middle shows off more of the player's avatar.

I'm wondering if they will have other grass tiles, since BW had a number of them, some of which were only used for certain seasons, but there was still a variety of both regular grass and dense grass tiles.

It's definitely too late to fix anything. Considering how much localization needs to be done, the game is probably late into the debugging stage, if not 100% complete.

There are some minor things they could fix, like simple breathing - and if you've kept up with the news, it looks like they've been doing the translations as they've been going along (the trailers come out almost simultaneously around the world).

I know that they're translating as they go, but there's still gonna be a bit of lagging behind. For all we know, the footage for the Japanese trailers is recorded before the translations and then held back until all of the trailers are done. to mention the fact that it's all early-game footage. I'm just warning you not to getyour hopes up. Chances are that you're looking at the final version of the game already (minus bug fixes, and no, they can't add anything after debugging without risking another Gen 1 glitchfest).

Considering they probably have to debug after translation anyway, they probably could change &/or add things just fine

I wouldn't be surprised if thsi is near-final version, but they're still in crunch time until it goes gold in likely september

Was anyone else disappointed by Oblivion Wing's animation? I mostly hated it because I wanted it to be a Physical move that worked like Horn Leech. Now, instead, Yveltal just flies up and shoots a red laser? Meh. Well, they could have made it look like Yveltal was using Kamehameha with all three of its Wings (hands?) and that would be acceptable. But just as Yveltal flies up, the animation just kind of freezes there for a second and then the scene gets switched to the Pokemon being attacked.

By the looks of it, any Pokémon using Hyper Beam will idle during the first half of the attack animation (when it's charging), so some of it may have just been strange film editing choices for the commercials, while some of it could have been the designers and game animators being in a press for time. That freezeframe look may be because it's a very particular position/keyframe in my traditional attack animation that they wanted to lengthen out. If you watch Xerneas use Geomancy, and then watch Xerneas use...Ice Beam?...He goes through his entire stomping animation in Geomancy, but freezes in a very particular pose during Ice Beam.

Wow, that new trailer looks impressive. The only thing that seems odd is the size of the playable character. When he's surfing, it looks like he is sitting on a small blue pillow. I expect it to be more fluid when actually playing the game, it likely only looks odd because I only saw a few seconds of it.

Geomancy and Oblivion Wing sure are getting a lot of speculation. I wonder if these attacks will use a new Gen 6 mechanic, of if they are being marketed simply because they are signature moves.

I'm also surprised that the gym leaders and Team Flare aren't being marketed more. The gyms and evil team have always been the main plotline of the game, and we've seen so little of them. Nintendo might be saving revealing them for later on of course, and the new graphics is Gen 6's greatest accomplishment so far in my opinion.

"Marketed" is a strong word
But yes it's likely because they're the signature moves and they look nice

Team Flare was just revealed like 2 weeks ago. As were 2 of the leaders
And they're never super heavily marketed. We'll likely find out Flare's team leader next month
