Xerneas is the first fairy type legendary
THere's

not much to read into this.
It's the first fairy type legendary in the same way Slyveon was advertised as the first fairy type Pokemon

e: Like by definition I'm pretty sure it's first???

It's begun. Cover leaked showing Mega Mewtwo 2 and Mega Garchomp

From Serebii :

The next batch of CoroCoro information has been posted to Japanese forums and this batch showcases more information on the upcoming games Pokémon X & Y. We have the cover that showcases a new Mega Evolution of Mewtwo as well as Mega Garchomp in the bottom right
Edit @ 10;36:The user with the same ID also posted that the starter evolutions are Gerogashira, Teerunaa, Hariboogu. They're all single typed and Teerunaa, the evolution of Fennekin, stands up.
He also lists two fossil Pokémon, Chigorasu which is Rock/Dragon and Amarusu which is Rock/Ice. There is a white dog called Torimian which is Normal-type and a Psychic-type cat called Nyaonikusu which has male and female appearances. It also states that Mewtwo is version exclusive. He also listed the Fairy-type chart. According to this, Fairy is Super Effective on Fighting, Dark and Dragon and not effective on Fire, Poison or Steel. It also states that it is weak to Poison and Steel while resists Fighting, Dark and Bug. It is immune to Dragon. However, as this is not pictured yet, don't take it as 100% confirmed.
10:46: This Mega Mewtwo is apparently Psychic/Fighting-type and has the ability Steadfast. Mega Garchomp's ability is Sand Force.

10:49: Chigorasu hasa new ability 'Hard Chin' that increases attack power. Amarusu has Freeze Skin is the Ice version of Normalize. Torimian has Fur Coat which reduces physical damage and apparently with "trimming" you can change its appearance. Nyaonikusu has Keen Eye or Infiltrator
10:53: Change your hair and clothes at a Boutique and Salon, reflected in the graphics, with a famous actress called Karune. Team Flare has five scientists, Kuseroshiki, Momiji, Bara, Akebi, Corea
10:45: In addition to this, some anime details were shown. Mega Blaziken was shown on the new anime poster, alongside Clemont and a new female. Like the above, this isn't 100% confirmed but comes from the same person as the cover, so don't count it as 100% confirmed yet

The apparent Fairy type chart is so clearly a balance bandage it hurts.

- Fighting relations: This makes sense, actually, since fairies are magical beings
- Dark Relations: Again, makes sense. I'll take this chance to point out Gardevoir now stomps Dark-types while being x4 resistant to Fighting.
- Steel Relations: Makes sense. Fairies are linked to nature, it seems, and Steel is 'man-made' and not natural.
- Poison Relations: Makes sense again. Poison finally gets a type it hits SE that's not usually part Poison itself!

Now we get to the more dodgy ones:
- NVE on Fire: This makes sense, as fairies tend to be nature-linked. However, the fact they are also not WEAK to fire is the first clear sign of fairy just being there for balance. Offensive Fire doesn't need help. Defensive Fire does. Also, despite a fire weakness making sense, they can't have that else every dragon would just Fire Blast/Flamethrower.
- Resists Bug: Doesn't make sense. Bugs eat plants and stuff, this just seems to be there to nerf U-Turn spam. A grass resist would have made more sense, but Grass offense doesn't need a nerf.
- Immune to Dragon: Aside from the fact fairies being strong against Dragon doesn't make sense in the first place, an outright immunity is such an obvious 'Fairy is here just for balance!' that it hurts. At least when they introduced Dark as Psychic's bane, it made the 'Three Fears' as Psychic's weaknesses, so Dark actually made flavor sense.

Honestly after seeing all of those, I was half expecting to read an immunity to Water as well.

Also, Gardevoir is now:
Weak to: Steel, Poison, Ghost
Neutral: Dark, Bug [Previously Weak]
Resists: Psychic
x4 Resists: Fighting
Immune: Dragon

Considering Gardevoir lost two far more common weaknesses than it gained, while also gaining resists, I think Gardevoir might go up a tier or two...

and Honedge too ... He will be weak to Fire, Ground, Dark, Ghost, Fairy !

Steel resists Fairy

Really do not like where this is going...

Edit: Oh wait they're single-typed. At least it's not going to be that type, but no Fire/Psychic kinda sucks. It'd better not look like a beefed-up fox in that case.

So Steel is loses it's resistance to dark and steel, only to gain an advantage against fairies. For some reason, it doesn't quite seem like a balanced deal. Boy, Dragon, Dark, and Steel sure lost a lot this gen.

Bugs can eat fairies too :P

I wonder how Scizor will do since one of its STABs is SE but the other isn't.

wat who cares about how resists and stuff make sense according to story or whatever.

Anyway I wasn't aware that Dark needed to be nerfed. Huh.

And holy shit that T-REx dude looks fucking cool. I think thats the rock/dragon fossil guy yeah what a badass.

LOL MegaMewtwo looks like a fucking moron. The other Mewtwo evo looks awesome compared to this guy.

On the other hand MegaChomp looks crazy cool. Like a grim reaper dragon or something.

At least Jirachi gained a new use for Meteor Mash. Imagine how all the Hydriegon of the world are feeling with it's new 4x weakness.

Anyways

  • Mewtwo has two Mega Evolutions. Each Mega Mewtwo is exclusive to one version. The new Mega Mewtwo is Psychic/Fighting and has Steadfast as its Ability.
  • Mega Garchomp has Sand Force as its Ability.
  • Fairy-type is super effective against Fighting, Dark, and Dragon, weak to Steel and Poison, resists Fighting, Dark, and Bug, is not very effective against Steel, Fire, and Poison, and is immune to Dragon.
  • Steel's Dark and Ghost resistances are gone now.
  • The second stage evolutions of the Starter Pokemon are revealed: Hariboogu is Chespin's evolution, Grass-type, and learns Mud Shot. Teerunaa is Fennekin's evolution, is Fire-type, learns Psycho Cut, and has a twig its tail. Gerogashira, Froakie's evolution, is Water-type and learns Bounce.
  • Two Fossil Pokemon are revealed: Chigorasu, a Rock/Dragon type has Hard Chin as its Ability which increases its attack. Amarusu, a Rock/Ice type, has Freeze Skin as its Ability. Like Normalize, it changes all its attacks to Ice-type.
  • Two new Pokemon are revealed: Torimian, a Normal-type that looks like a white dog (the one from the Pokemon Direct?). It has Fur Coat as its Ability, which reduces damage to it. Nyaonikusu (Meowstick from the leaks), a Psychic-type cat, has gender differences and each gender has different movepools. It has Keen Eye or Infiltrator.
  • There are five scientists with Team Flare: Kuseroshiki, Momiji, Bara, Akebi, and Kolea.
  • You can customize your clothes and hair at a Salon/Boutique. A famous actress named Karune helps you.

Second stage evolutions mean final stage or just the first evolution of starter ? (And I don't talk about possible Mega Evolution)
