Oh i see

Just found something....surprising about Meowstic's eyes
http://www.pokemonxy.com/_ui/img/_en/screenshots/sept_p14_08_ygezp.jpg
I like it even more now. It goes from having that "I don't give a Raticate's ass about nothing" look (which I liked to begin with) to this, which I also like. Reinforces my choice to use a female Meowstic on my team in Y. By the way, my complete Y Version team can be found in my signature (Quilladin, Helioptile, Skrelp, Noivern, Pyroar♂, Meowstic♀).

Hmm...not to be off topic or anything but anyone else think that Team Flare grunts will be spamming Fletchlings and Litleos? Seems like the logical replacements for Zubat and Ratata, etc etc

Edit: I also feel like the admins will each have a Furfrou with different cuts/colorings

Well, we know they'll be using Houndour, so I'm more inclined to think we'll be seeing a lot of those. Besides, who's to say they'll be replacing Zubat? I mean, I could see them using the Litleo and Fletchling lines, yeah, but I don't see them spamming them.

Well, I'd assume they'd wanna show off the new mons more than the older ones

Ah ok. I thought I had read that they touch games up right up until the latest minute.

But that might just be Bethesda...
There's a lot of stuff that has to happen before launching a product. Basically, legal stuff holds the game back for a couple months during which not much can be done to it unless something is deemed absolutely unsuitable for release.
For a fuller explanation, watch this video: http://extra-credits.net/episodes/mass-effect-3-dlc/

So if they get all of the approvals ahead of time, they technically have no reason not to launch before October 12. Not that I think this happened/ is happening
With a constantly bitching fandom like Pokemon's? People'd just complain about how BAWBAWBAW I WASN'T READY IT'S NOT FAIR THAT THEY GAVE AN EARLY RELEASE WHAT THE HELL POKEMON KEEP YOUR PROMISES THAT'S IT I QUIT POKEMON

Even if it's an improvement this fandom finds something to complain about, just because they changed something.

Trying to think if it's amusing or pathetic.

I was thinking about something some weeks ago (new topic). While reading the sentence on Mega Absol's page about its speed making its critical hits "even more potent" and seeing as Gamefreak is not only giving us the Kanto startes but also reusing the RBY sound effects for some attacks (Hyper Beam, Psybeam), I was thinking that maybe they will bring back some old mechanics, in a different way, like critical hits. Since the amount of damage that Sylveon took from a Drizzle boosted Hydro Pump doesn't add up, maybe critical hits now have different multipliers based on the users speed (instead of having a different ratio), the faster the user the bigger the multiplier. Since the Politoed in the video was built around Trick Room its Hydro Pump only did around 1.3x damage on a crit.
Just a thought.

How do you all feel about the whole grass types having immunity to grass type status causing moves?
I think this is pretty big issue especially when venusaur is on the god damn loose.
Rotom-C really appreciates this and its shiny new paralysis immunity. It gives it a whole new niche other than "VoltTurn member who isn't blocked by Gastrodon".

They never had a boost.

Why did I think they did? and then I thought it might be an ability, but I looked up Ice Body and it recovers HP. Huh. My mistake. People were talking about Ice getting a defensive boost in Hail earlier and it confused me, I guess they were just speculating.

So... would it be better to preorder the strategy guide, or to wait for general stats, movesets, typings, and evolution methods to show up online?

I'm sure by the end of launch day we'll have a large chunk, if not 'all', of that kind of information. not in great detail of course. depends on how good the guides available at launch are, too.

I think I'll just go about discovering things at my own pace, and maybe pick up a guide if I'm really struggling with something (weird evolution methods probably being that 'something').

The grass immunity is pretty nice. Means breloom and amoongus get a bit of a nerf. Steel types being netural to ghost and dark types is a bit bigger. Gengar becomes way more useful now.

Yeah, it's pretty big, but honestly Venusaur kind of gets nerfed by this because now other Grass types can soak up it's Sleep Powders. The real beneficiary of this change has to be Celebi for it's ability to hard-counter Breloom (and Amoongus, I suppose), as well as Venusaur (so long as sun isn't up; otherwise, it's probably not going to take a +2 HP fire/ Sludge Bomb very well). What's more, if you consider Heatran's new Fairy resist, that CeleTran core is looking pretty nice right now. Add a tertiary fairy member and you could have a pretty sweet defensive core (crossing fingers for Fairy/ Normal Blissey & Chansey).

What are the odds of Denenne being... good? At least in-game. It's the only fairy besides Xerneas I'm even remotely interested in using. Odds of an evo, or decent special attack and speed? MEvo maybe?

I think Denenne could be good with something like prankster as a 2nd ability. More than likely will be so-so for early to mid gameplay wise.

Historically, Pikaclones tend to have nice Speed, so I think we can count on that. Besides that, it has Pickup, which automatically makes it an invaluable part of any in-game team. Trust me, this is coming from the guy with the 10-year-old Linoone.

I'm with ya, I used Linoone in my first ruby run when I was like 8. Everyone told me to use something else but I grew too attached and that pickup was damn good man.
I'm mainly hoping for a passable Special Attack and movepool

It is new, as is grass's immunity to "powder/spore" moves and electric's immunity to paralysis. It doesn't state abilities, but it wouldn't be surprising as ghosts are supposed to vanish or move through objects at will.

You have to wonder if that will send Honedge's stock up a little bit. I mean, Magnet Pull isn't huge, but a Steel type that can switch in and out of Magnezone (or Magneton for lower tiers) may not be all bad.

But then you realize halfway through your post that Steel lost its resistances to Ghost and Dark, and Honedge will therefore be useless after all. Crisis averted.

Do you think we could:

Start game
Pick Chespin
Deposit Chespin in bank
Start over
Pick Fenniken
Deposit Fennekin in bank
Start over
Repeat with Froakie
Collect Chespin and Fennekin from bank
Use all three starters for in-game team

It depends. There might be a certain point in the game that we have to pass before we can use the Pokemon bank. If that's the case, it won't be possible but if you can use the bank as soon as you start the game then yeah.

But my guess is we'll have to wait to use the Pokemon bank.
