General Fighting Game Discussion

hi im trying to learn how to play kof13 and im really bad. i tend to use king a lot if that helps pls help

I need help finding simple combos on SSFIV 3D edition, and character, any combo, I just need some help. Im used to tatsunoko vs capcom in which its super easy to combo with using the wiimote. Help!

Shoryuken would be a good place to start. I assume 3DS plays the same as vanilla so you could watch gameplay or guides for that.

Come on moonbound that's clearly a parody website

It was already announced that each of Ivy's boobs would be replaced with 10 year old twin daughters who also dress in s&m

Hey that article was written a full month before the real DSP actually lost to that monkey. That was a freak occurrence.

The UNiB campaign seemed successful, I don't know if arcsys games really need the PC port as much but it would be a nice option to have.

EDIT: Blazblue came out on steam today. It was Calamity Trigger... Maybe there's still some hope for games that people actually want to play???

Finished this the other day, figured it'd be a good place to post it. Tagging Birkal because I haven't shown him yet.

Care to share the parts/cost breakdown Xaqwais ? I'm looking into building/modding a stick in the near future.

EDIT: I had the Reggie stick in here but I found this and this is so much better

So props to you if you opened this hide tag. And you're welcome by the way.

Waifu love is important, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I bought buttons from Focus Attack which seems to be a pretty popular place to get them. It was cheaper than Focus Attack but I didn't really go searching around so maybe there's a better place. Anyway, I bought 8 Sanwa 30mm buttons for 2.75 each, with shipping it was around $26. It might be worth asking around if you have a local FGC scene. A friend of mine just bought clear buttons for $1 each from someone off the Chicago FGC Facebook group, so he saved like $20 right there.

The art cut out and the plexi to protect it were bought on sale, but I think if you bought it now from Art's hobbies it'd be around $18 for both before shipping. Again you could maybe do this cheaper by getting the art cut out done at like a Kinkos and cutting it yourself but I just went with what most people I asked how modded their sticks did.

The side panels and bezel were the most expensive part but probably also the highest chance to be optional? I'm not sure what base stick you have and exactly what design you're going for so it really depends on that in regards to whether you need these, but this was the most expensive part. The bezel was $15 and the side panels were $20 because Madcatz knows they can sell 'em high with lack of competition. If I wanted a more common color I could have asked around SRK or local FGC scene if people, but I figured light blue was pretty uncommon, lemme just go ahead and get them.

So yeah I payed a lot of money for this (considering I bought the stick for $100!) and it felt really weird since I'm usually a pretty stingy person. I originally wanted to buy parts over time and build it in however many months when I finally got all the parts. But I came in to some money and figured if I didn't do it all in one go I'd take me a while before I got off my ass and finished it. I'm not an expert my any means but if you have any other questions, lemme know!

While it will be a stupidly fun casual game mode, I can't see it being in any way healthy for the competitive nature of the game (especially online). Would have to assume that in tournament it would be edition locked to Ultra though...

Most likely. If they let people switch editions at tournaments or online, it would just be Vanilla Sagat/Ryu/Akuma and AE Yun/Yang/Fei Long. Which would be a shame, as Super and 2012 had great character balance (as will Ultra, most likely).

Yeah I can't see any tournaments allowing version select...but it should be insanely fun for casual play.

Also I was rooting so hard for Infiltration's chun yesterday...watching Cammy is so depressing sometimes :(

Well, at least now we have confirmation that it is only selectable in offline mode, so no need to worry about online spam off all our favourite broken things

Ah the version lock in online (and presumably tournaments) is cool. Thought they had given up on the franchise and gone "fuck it, just play whatever the broken you want".

Unsurprisingly, Melee made it back into EVO and MLG. Good for them.

Unfortunately, despite MLG wanting to add it to their lineup, Nintendo forbid them from running Brawl (read: nothing to do with popularity or competitive merit). Fortunately, there is an awareness campaign on twitter for it.

Melee fans, it's your turn to show that you believe in "one unit". Literally all you need to do is tweet #FreeSSBB, maybe retweet some of the more popular posts while you're at it. Brawl fans payed actual real life money to get a game that wasn't theirs into EVO, even though they had the choice to donate for Brawl instead. All we need from you is a single tweet, mere seconds of your time, at no literal or metaphorical cost to you.

Besides, this is pretty much exactly what Nintendo did to you guys last year. You know how it feels, don't let it happen to others.

Melee hasn't been confirmed for EVO(EVO hadn't updated their site, whatever) and I doubt Smash at MLG will last that long anyways. Also, it's hard to believe Brawl could pull the 700 entrants Melee did when it only got 100 at EVO during the height of its popularity.

tbh Skullgirls was more worthy than Melee last year and it definitely is more worthy than either Smash this year with noticeable system improvements (or at least no more meterless touch of death) and at least 2 new characters by the time EVO comes around.

And it's some random Cammy clone (with some Seth mixed in), because people the competitive community (aka SF4's target audience) loved her so much when it was just the one. Was she at least a popular character in the comics?
