What is the hardest Video Game you have ever played?

I've said it once, I've said it again, I've said it to the whole world, and now I'll say it again...

Mega Man X3.

Seriously, that game was impossible for me to beat without using a guide to find all of the upgrades, heart tanks, and boss weaknesses. I only beat it a couple of days ago because I used a billion savestates on my emulator.
I mean, come on. Volt Catfish, Crush Crawfish, and Sigma are hard as hell with only the X-Buster and one or two upgrades. Byte was difficult at first as well, but he attacks in a very predictable pattern and is easy to jump over and gun down. But if you let him touch you, you're basically fucked.
I also have the following games to diss on difficulty...
Mega Man X6- The only two hard bosses in this game were Infinity Mijion(using X; Zero is for cheap bastards!), and that eye boss in Gate's Fortress. I didn't even get touched by the other bosses, really. Possessed Zero was a breeze too.
Donkey Kong Country 2- Give me three hours with that game and I will have finished it 103%.
Contra(all)- Hard when you first try it, but ridiculously simple after a while, even without the 30 lives code.
Metroid- *yawn*
Ninja Gaiden-...okay, this game is still fucking hard. Jesus.

The hardest games I"ve played is Bomberman 64 and Mischief Makers, both for N64. They aren't SO difficult, but I was a child.

And the "get all gold cards" mission from Bomberman 64 sucks. ><

Mega Man X3 was pretty difficult...though if you started with Blizzard Buffalo, things were easier...I hated finding all the upgrades! The stages were long and boring.

For Megaman X6 Infinity Mijion was the hardest of the 8. I can't beat that eye boss though! Zero is fucked in that one. Blaze Heatnix's stage and Metal Shark Player's (what a name, lol) were stages that pissed me off.

I kinda disagree. I found Super Mario Kart to be the hardest of them all...150cc = hell.

To be honest, I mostly blew through everything in that game. Yes, 150cc was difficult, but I could usually beat each race after one or two tries.

I dunno, maybe the SNES controller just didn't feel like my favorite controller for a Mario Kart game...oh well.

I don't want to digress too much from the "hardest game" topic, but has anyone ever successfully beat or even played Superman 64 (the worst game ever...seriously.)?

no, but I've seen some pretty epic videos of that game on youtube. I gotta get my hands on it one of these days

Gran Turismo 3 and 4 are extremely hard in the later races and driving missions. Some of them require fine tuning your car and racing it for 3 hours straight, going to pit stops etc. All it takes is for you to screw up once and you're last since the computer follows a near-perfect racing line. It's borderline impossible to get 100% completion on those games.
Hell even the Driving License tests can be pretty frustrating.

_Rex_, if you thought that X3 was hard, try this in X4 sometime - beat Cyber Peacock with Zero without any Heart/Sub Tanks or other weapons. I've done it (and should record a video of me doing it, except I lack a camera), but it takes near-godlike reflexes and a little bit of luck to do since Zero does shit damage with the normal midair attack.

Also, I found X3 to be one of the easiest games in the series, the easiest being X2. I'll give you Sigma though, he's a total whore. Protip, by the way: your first two stages should be Blizzard Buffalo, then Tunnel Rhino. You do that and the game gets incredibly easy really fast, since you've a. knocked out what's practically the hardest stage in the game, that being Rhino's, b. given yourself the means to obtain damn near every other item in the game, c. made Volt Catfish easy as hell to beat.

I've done Cyber Peacock with like 2 hearts. It takes a goddamn long time to beat him (the music has to loop again).

Tbh, I find a tie between X2 and X4 in terms of easiness (assuming you use X for X4). X2 the stages are really short. X4 the bosses (except maybe Double) are VERY easy (sigma just takes a while, but I've done it without taking too much damage).

WWE Smackdown VS Raw simply because I SUCK at that game. A friend of mine came over the other week and we decided to make characters and fight each other with them, problem was that neither of us could figure out how to pin the other down and win the match, even after both of our characters had maximum damage. It lasted 45 minutes before we got bored and gave up.

Not an official game, but who really cares?

Super Demo World.

It's a hacked game, yeah, and took me like two months to complete it, I couldn't have done it without a FAQ, and honestly very few people could.

Speedrun here, if you're curious, this is some wicked shit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLrcVntuf5c

Elite Beat Agents. I was stuck on the final level (Jumpin' Jack Flash) of the third difficulty (Sweatin') for at least 4 or 5 months of steady playing until I finally beat it. The funny thing is that I rarely got frusturated with the game to the point that I would give up; it's just that fun.

Fire Emblem (or FE7 for other fans out there) seems quite hard to me. I'm nearing completion of the game (chapter 26) but it's been a long, tough road. Each chapter can take at least a week of playing through to make sure you can beat it without losing a party member along with doing other things (like getting all the items in the level from chests and distributing experience to lower leveled units). This game asks for perfection, which is sometimes very hard to give.

Metroid II: Return of Samus. Metroid games - a map = Impossible.

Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels (I think its the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2). Its unreasonably hard. I never beat it, since I got it in Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on the Gameboy Color along with Pokemon Blue, so when I realized I was quite simply not good enough to beat it I just kinda went back to Pokemon.

Also, F-Zero GX is not very nice to me. Fire Emblem is a bitch if you're like me and don't want anybody to die.

Glad to see someone else is like me. I was I think only 6-7 or so when I got Super Mario Bros Deluxe (I had played the game on our NES, and loved it), and I felt great when I beat the game. Then when I found "Super Mario Bros for Super Players", I decided to give it a try. I thought it was just a joke, because the layout of the levels seemed so "Beta-ish" (I wouldn't have described it as so back then!), and it was sooo hard. So I got to about world 3, but then stopped.

I'm actually glad they chose to release Doki Doki Panic as Super Mario Bros 2 here in North America, even if it was probably the easiest Mario game. The nostalgia I get from playing it is great (I got it when the GBA came out).

Anyone here play the PS2 version of DDR SuperNova? That's pretty hard. Maybe I'm just weak or something, but the exercise mode challenges have nearly knocked me off my feet. What sucks is that there's a glitch that messes up the song Dance Dance, so I can't play it. Apparently, it's on all copies of the game.

Bomberman 64 when trying to get all the gold cards. The game was very difficult especially with time limits and weak spots on bosses.

rayman advance
one of these days I'll have to get around to beating it... if it wasn't so boring

agree completely, only for the psx. jesus christ that game is MAD.

also... devil may cry 3? in the 2nd level i just got tired of pressing buttons :x
