I'll throw my hat in for making sure that Ganondorf is fun and unique as a priority higher than making sure he is competitive. I don't know why a big sword is most people's preferred way to do that, Ganondorf is kinda much more known for playing big ball tennis than anything else.

That poll after poll shows a sizeable number of people wanting to play too. I don't go around telling people that characters they want shouldn't be in the game. I don't attack ambivalence. It's douchebaggery supported by a lack of creativity (see people who acted the same way in regards to Phoenix Wright in MvC). But I do use him. Right now. For all his badness. Because I like him. You seem to fail to understand that most people who play Smash Bros games just want to have fun. People buy systems for smash games, and it's not because it's a tight fighting game, it's because it's fun. Sure I'd like to see Link actually not suck, cause he's one of the characters I play the most. But he'll always be one of the characters I play the most. And the people who want Ganondorf to have a sword, they'll probably play him if he still sucks. Honestly it really is kind of sad that one of the earliest and most popular franchises in nintendo's history, almost 30 years old now, has yet to get more than one different person in smash brothers. Hell, metroid is the only franchise in brawl with more stages than characters! Besides, who wouldn't want a metroid character? Anybody they could add, be it a giant beast, ridley, or a bounty hunter, would be something very unique to smash. Metroid in general is a franchise that stands out from other nintendo games, and the characters do as well.

Ridley is most likely de-confirmed after the Smash Bros. Direct, but I guess the separation of Samus and Zero Suit Samus kind of gives Metroid its second representative.

Ignoring the sex appeal thing, zss was a heck of a lot fun for me to play in brawl (granted she doesn't get her armor projectiles now).


Either way, you want ridley, we get it, stop going out of your way to attack people with differing opinions. My ambivalence towards a character doesn't discredit your support for them.

They're the same person, yes, but Samus and Zero Suit Samus play entirely differently. I say that's a good requirement for being a different representative.

ZSS is a fine representative. The only other choices would be some of the other hunters from Metroid Hunters. Dark Samus and Mother Brain have been confirmed as a boss, but is it wrong for me to also want Thardus in there, somehow? Or maybe Kraid?

The other other remotely Samus-sized thing is a Chozo Statue. Almost every major encounter with something in Metroid is a massive hulking beast.

So I'd put it out there that you are fishing for arguments. That you are being an aggressive, condescending asshat to someone who disagrees with you.

Just because you have no self awareness doesn't mean you're innocent. If you seriously cannot see how the following are being aggressive and condescending:

I main Ganondorf and love Flame Choke, and I hope it does return. I just wish Wizard's Foot, Warlock Punch, and Dark Dive also weren't so Falconesque.

Screw swordsmanship. I know a couple iterations of Ganondorf have used it (and Demise), but Brawl had way more than enough sword users. I much prefer a more balanced Ganondorf that also includes some of his signature magical and ranged moves, including a final smash that isn't basically Falcon's without the cutscene. I know the Speed and Weight and Power differences between Falcon and Ganondorf were massive, and I also see based on the Greninja trailer that a lot of similar mechanic moves will be included. But I hope with Custom Moves there can be some real fun, hehehe. Don't think they'll be tourney legal, but we'll see.

Moving onto a less confrontational topic, how do we all feel about new pokeballs? It might just be my unfamiliarity with gens 5-6 relative to ingraining the first 4 generations of pokemon in my mind, but I can't think of any really new pokemon that I would love to see summonable.

Frankly I thought the Pokeballs in Brawl sucked and that Smash Trophies totally replaced them in terms of what they used to do, so at least some change is in order. There just wasn't much oomph to a lot of the Pokeballs, a large percentage of the mons had a more utility focus (which for a random item is problematic). So I'd def like to see some more mons that are really gonna make an impact on par with the Smash Trophies.

Moving onto a less confrontational topic, how do we all feel about new pokeballs? It might just be my unfamiliarity with gens 5-6 relative to ingraining the first 4 generations of pokemon in my mind, but I can't think of any really new pokemon that I would love to see summonable.

I'm interested in the Master Ball, which makes it easier to see legendaries, especially because it'll be easier to get Mew and Celebi. As for Pokeballs in general, riding Gogoat is funny, Dedenne will actually be good, and Kyurem looks boss.

An ax/polearm wielder wouldn't help the actual issue at all, since all sword characters almost always hit with the tip anyway. That's why I liked Roy so much.

No. Like I just said not even an hour ago, the issue is that they all play pretty much the same and only hit with the tip, and there has been a sword character that isn't like that (Roy). Travis would be excellent because the tip of his first beam katana would be weak anyway.

I am fairly positive Thursdays picture is more evidence to Ridley not being playable, as some of you will be disappointed to hear. if you look closely you notice Ridley's huge shadow casted over the stage, not only is it enormous, but to cast such a shadow he would have to be very high above the stage, probably beyond the stage hight limit. In the end it is still clear that a player wouldn't be that large in scale.

there are some other things to consider however, such as in the smash bros direct where Sakurai said "and dr wily's stage won't be the only one with a boss" and then there was a screen showing the metroid stage with a ridley shadow—or the fact that the hole in the back of the stage was certainly caused by the Ridley that is currently flying around above the stage and that's not something playable characters do. As much as I want Ridley in this game, it's obvious that that won't happen
