So we are having quite a WHOLE LOT OF TALK about the megas. Good Game for you ladies and gents.

Just for a quick change, one thing that I hope for this version is that to GRADUALLY INCREASE the amount of double battles after defeating the second gym. Let's pull up a Pokémon Coliseum in this remake. If VGC battles are always doubles, why not increase the promotion of playing double battles over single battles in this remake? This is the generation that introduced the doubles mechanic. Right? For those who disagree with this plausible idea, tell me why double battling 70% of the whole game is not good
Doubles is harder than Singles in-game since the AI will probably have access to strategies you more than likely won't have (Helping Hand, Wide/Quick Guard, etc). There's also the fact that Singles is awesome.

Because i don't like double. And it's bad if you want to train 1 mon in particular.

Edit : And Tate&Liza was the worst/pathetic gym fight in the history of Pokemon.

I hope they are keeping the best for last

I'm hard-pressed to think of anything better than mega Sceptile/Swampert. Especially after the whole discussion over the possibility of new mega evolutions.

But I guess you're right. Someone posted a couple of pages ago a link to japanese web page that implies there will be more two primal evolutions. And I think we're in for at least a dozen new mega evolutions. They've already revealed 5 and they won't be revealing every single one until they release the game, for it makes no sense to give everything away before release. (And I'm not counting mega Lati@s because I don't think they'll be a thing).

Someone at Serebii's forums with a good eye noticed a hole in a wall in a picture.

Look at the right corner. That hole was also in the exact same place in the originals.

SECRET BASES CONFIRMED! :D

I just thought of something that tops all that's been revealed so far: mega Johto starters.

But no, don't give them away in a trailer before release or at some point before the E4. If I recall correctly, in Emerald you'd only get a Johto starter after completing the Hoenn pokédex and talking to Birch. It would be amazing if this stays like that in the remakes and the starter you get is holding their respective mega stone @_@

I don't see it happening that way though, because it would make getting the 3 mega stones really hard. And to be honest, I'd be happy if they only released the Johto starters HA. So maybe the starter you get after will have its HA. Just speculating.

Isn't that around the same place as the sealed slab or whatever it was called; the pointless little cave that gave you the sunny day TM?

I've been thinking of this myself - honestly, after the Hoenn Starters, the Johto Starters are probably the most likely set of starters to next get Megas.

I don't care about mega Johto starters, I just want Sheer Force Feraligatr... Also, Secret Bases likely coming back means we'll need a tutor specifically for Secret Power, which I think logically makes it more likely that we'll get other move tutors as well.

Aren't Ice Punch, Waterfall, and Crunch the only good moves it has that are boosted by Sheer Force? Just give it Tough Claws instead.

Yeah, it's called the Scorched Slab. Hopefully it won't be as pointless as in the originals, perhaps even having a legendary there? (One of) the pixies from Gen IV would be a good fit imo.

To be fair, those (Waterfall and Ice Punch) are the main moves Feraligatr runs.

Crunch and Ice fang are, imo, not enough to give him Strong Jaw. Like Karxrida said, Tough Claws is the way to go.

No starters got the same Hidden Ability so maybe none will get the same mega ability either. That'd be my guess, Tough Claws is already on Charizard X. I'd like it if Fraligator was like Blazekin and kept the kick ass ability it already has.

Mega 'gator with Strong jaw?

NO! Sheer Force is waaaaaay more useful. It makes Ice Punch as strong as Earthquake and Waterfall stronger than Earthquake before factoring in STAB. Strong Jaws would make Ice Fang only slightly stronger than Ice Punch (and without perfect accuracy and freeze chance) and Crunch would remain weaker than Earthquake. So please don't ruin mega Feraligatr by giving it Strong Jaws!

On the topic of mega Johto starters, I was giving it some thought and here are my conclusions. Mega Evolution seems to be a thing now in pokémon. I personally like how it allows for "new" pokémon to be introduced mid-gen without messing up the pokédex. So probably the new games and new generations are going to introduce even more new mega evolutions. So it seems safe to assume that mega Joth starters have to come out before a possible 7th gen DP remake, which would be the perfect time for introducing the Sinnoh mega starters. This means Johto starters' mega evolutions could come out in ORAS (which is a bit unlikely when compared to the other scenarios, especially since they're already introducing new mega starters), pokémon Z (Professor Elm is visiting Sycamore in Lumiose and you get a Johto instead of a Kanto starter - which ties in well with the story, since Kalos is all about mega evolution and Elm is known as a specialist in regular evolution). The mega Johto starters could also be introduced in the next generation's main games in a similar fashion to how the Kanto starters were this generation.

All in all that's just some (wild) speculation on my part, but it serves as reasons for why we might not get Johto mega Starters in ORAS, even though I wouldn't rule it out just yet.

But the appeal of Sheer Force is because of Life Orb. Without it, its damage output is going to take a hit even if its stats are boost with the Mega. It would still be powerful tho, and the same potential than Tough Claws, so yeah you're right.

I have a feeling it's gong to be like the Cave of Emptiness; holds a TM before you beat the game (Solar Beam), then a Mega Stone after (no clue as to who, but likely a Fire-type).

Oh yeah, something I forgot in my last post. A lo of people have already pointed out that mega Sableye's eyes and gem are the color of rubies. This might mean nothing at all of course, but to me it seems like a SECOND mega evolution for sableye is something worth considering, possibly based around a sapphire instead of a ruby. Mega charizard y was simply revealed as mega charizard at the very start, and once again with charities there's actually precedence for pokemon to get more mega revolutions than their counterparts. I know that the only pokemon with two mega evolutions were exceptionally popular but it's something to look out for on game release imo

Can't wait to see this in glorious 3D

What? That effing cheating Lanturn using a move it can't learn naturally or unnaturally? Freaking cheating game!

Jokes aside (no, seriously, screw that Lanturn in particular), I agree. Hoenn is my favorite region and seeing Route 119 in 3D will be breathtaking, to say the least.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but could this mean the return of permanent weather?

Through Primal Reversion, Groudon's powerful Attack grows even greater. It also gains the Fire type, raising the power of the Fire-type moves it can learn. And it appears that its Ability might get a boost! Look forward to more details about the power hidden within Primal Groudon!
