Alrighty!!! On a quest to get me a shiny Female Ampharos. Im breeding for a defensive set, so they're bold. These mareep are in Dream Balls. When we trade, spitbacks of female pokemon in special balls would be nice :)

what is the earliest point in Pokemon X and Y that you can start to IV breed efficiently?

and is the IV judge the only way you can check for IV's?

You can basically just start breeding as soon as you get to the Day Care; though you want to try and have a Destiny Knot, Everstone and (preferably) a 6IV Ditto.

The IV judge is the only way to check IVs without any help from outside the game (whether from someone else or your own powersaves).

edit2: woops, yeah you can use an IV calculator + Battle Institute like .com said OR save and use a bunch of rare candies and then an IV calculator lol

You can use an IV Calculator, in conjunction with the Battle Institute in Lumiose City (which sets your Pokémon's level to 50, without you having to save).

Edit: You can start breeding as soon you as encounter the daycare, however the game is only ~4–5 hours long if you're semi-casually playing with speed in mind. Given the additional time you'll be spending for each breed, you'd probably save time in the long run by just completing the main story first.

Does anyone by any chance know the pokemon online GTS-ish site where you can upload/download pokemon?
iirc you had to set up your wifi setting to connect to the server.
That would cut down some time in looking for those items to aid in breeding

The site you are looking for - pokecheck.org - is down for extended maintenance and isn't really expected to be back up anytime soon.

There was a site like that in Gen 5 (doesn't work since wi-fi was shut down), but nothing for Gen 6.

I think you mean Pokecheck.org. With the closing down of Wifi services for previous generations, such services no longer work.

You're welcome! Hope it helps.

Not much to add except that you can get to the Battle Institute when you can reach north boulevard in Lumiose, so you many not have to complete the whole story first. Up to you whether you want spend time checking IV's so you can breed early, or progressing through the game before you start breeding. Either way, it's probably about the same, but at least the latter option is less tedious XD

lol ok. Should only take about 3 hours to get everything together.

afaik nothing supports gen VI. You'd be better off asking here for what you need as I'm sure there are a ton of people who could help :)
 
Wow.. 5th gen wifi was shut down?
now I don't feel so bad running off to Gamestop this morning to purchase my cartridge and 3DS out of impulse LOL.
I will take into account all your feedbacks and go off to enjoy the game
