I believe mega altaria has 4 weaknesses iirc. Fairy, ice, poison, and steel. But on the topic of mega altaria, I've been waiting for a fairy type with ground coverage outside of HP ground since the release of X/Y, and now there is one (Pixilate normal attacks and earthquake). I know what mega altaria set I'll be using competitively (and in game if the mega stone is available before E4 plz).

Mega Salemence is such a bad design, I mean ugh. Mega Altaria is pretty predictable, but it's a nice enough design anyway.

Mega Lopunny though! Honestly its weird proportions have always seemed a strange design choice, and I'm not too sure about the mega's design, but I'm really excited about it competitively. Scrappy means it gets perfect coverage with its STABs, letting it abuse its extensive movepool in its last two slots. Stuff like Encore, Baton Pass, Heal Bell, Healing Wish, Quick Attack, even Scrappy Fake Out for doubles. Not to mention its defenses aren't awful, a 15 boost to each will leave it with 65/99/111, which isn't bad at all, and it still has 70 points to pour into attack and speed (although its speed only needs like, a 15 boost to be really quick).

And with this it's immune to ghost and resists dark, the premier attacking types in the current meta. Even if it doesn't make it OU, I'll have a lot of fun with it in UU if GF don't screw it up.

Who else thinks it's weird that mega mence is getting a defense boost? With that and Intimidate it's looking like it will be pretty bulky even uninvested

Salamence: I'm going to be blunt, I don't like his design. He ditches his arms for goofy wings that make me want to throw him like a boomerang. Salamence can go mixed as of now however I think that's going to change when we finally get to play around with this guy. This is because I think the wings look like blades, which in turn will probably have him net a big attack boost when he mega evolves. He has a pretty good movepool both physically and specially, but this mega will further enforce his power physical arsenal. I am however worried that this might make him too good. If any mega is going to be banned to ubers next it's probably going to be this. I mean, it's Salamence!
Well yeah, considering how powerful Mega-Pinsir hits, let's imagine Salamence that already has a big Attack, and also doesn't have a crippling x4 weakness to Stealth Rocks that sometimes can keep M-Pinsir in check.... Doesn't have priority nor Swords Dance, but can boost his speed with Dragon Dance and can surprise some check with some special attack(even without boosts is enough)...D:

The other two I can see them ending up around UU/BL... Mega-Lopunny seems a revisited Mienshao with better Speed and the ability to not fall flat on a Ghost switch-in and probably more geared to an offensive-support-ish role, Mega-Altaria might get see in OU, competing with Mega-Gardevoir... The Speed can be an issue but I guess the great typing and the addictional bulk she could get will kinda make up for that.

I don't see M-Altaria competing with M-Gardevoir. Although they both have, and Altaria will probably use, Pixilate Hyper Voice, Altaria still has a 70 base special attack, which means that, even if they maxed it out with +50, then she would only have a special attack of 120, which is still less than Gardevoir's in her base form, not counting the Pixilate boost, and won't be able to scratch the level of M-Gardevoir's singing. No, if anything, Altaria's going to be a defensive fairy, who'll probably have the niche of being the bulkiest; her stats and move pool already support a defensive/support set, with things like Roost, Cotton Guard, Heal Bell, and Perish Song. Someone showed it earlier, but after a single Cotton Guard, with 100 defense, M-Altaria would be able to wall M-Scizor.

Therefore, the only competition M-Altaria would provide M-Gardevoir would for a team's mega slot, which is irrelevant, because the mega slot is either built around the team, or the team around the mega. Not both. As Altaria will likely be a wall, and Gardevoir is a wall breaker, they likely won't be in the same team arch-type enough for competition to matter. I could easily see Altaria, with what is known about her now, and what can be supposed from her current stat pool, being OU. Whether I'm right or not...well, let's wait until December.

Icicle crash?

Now all we need is a pikachu event that gives both volt tackle and extemespeed!

But anyway what's up with salamence. It's like ken sugimori was daydreaming and drew parts of rayquaza halfway and realized it was supposed to be salamence. Then he forgot it needed wings and just put them in there

Battle Bunny Riven Lopunny lost her neck and a few pounds simultaneously and altaria started using the same hair products as ampharos, all over its body. But it's beautiful though, simply beautiful

There are 7 dragon pokemon in the Hoenn dex iirc, and (assuming lati@sites come out in ORAS) 4 of them have MEvos (and "mega" rayquaza doesn't look too unlikely, neither would Mega Kindra be too surprising). RIP in peace sweet prince (flygon).

Aside from that, I quite like the new designs. I definitely support GFs decisions to use MEvos as a way to introduce new options to pokemon, rather than to try and break them instantly.

I therefore hope that MMence is some kind of take on special Salamence or a more defensive Salamence (although not sure that would work). We could also see a kind of psuedo mixed sweeper if it goes special when Mega evolved, that could be interesting to see mega evolution being a delayed and timed tactic, rather than something you spam the second something comes out. Mega Garchomp is evidence that 700BST and good STABs doesn't necessarily break a pokemon, so hopefully this gives Salamence a new niche in OU rather than just making it broken.

Lopunny looks like it could also hold a nice niche with Scrappy Hi-Jump kick. And I think dragon/fairy is also interesting, and it definitely makes sense with Altaria, which could now serve a role as a great specialist counter to a lot of threats.

Also nice to see a gen 4 pokemon get a MEvo - although if ORAS is to follow X/Ys lead on this I think we may be able to infer that the "new" Hoenn dex is going to be expanded upon the old one.

Edit: also, definitely going to play through as May this time.

Kingra is Gen 2? :|

Also: I've been talking to someone looking at the scans, and due to bad translating, "High Jump Kick" in japanese is Jump Kick in English. Hi Jump Kick in japanese is something like Jumping Knee Kick.

So it might just be Lopunny using normal Jump Kick...

Okay: So for Salamence does still have front legs. They are tucked up inside its super aerodynamic metal body peice. It never had particularly sturdy arms and legs anyway.

He also looks fucking awesome. Love the decision they took with the design to have those big flat wings sweep out and forwards. He's even ended up with stabaliser canards on the front of the design. Very cool.

I'm disapointed about lopunny not receiving a monumental attack boost, considering it has a really good physical movepool. I'm not really sure about her design though. Just gone the Mienshao route. Mega Altaria is exactly how I expected. I hope it gets good buffs to its defences and can become a real threat in terms of being able to take on pretty much anything it wants with its unique typing.

The main thing coming out of this is does this mean that A) New Pokemon have been added to the Hoenn Dex (Like Buneary) and B) Does it mean we get more mega stones during the story?
Before you pointed out Mega Salamence's front arms, I thought the design looked pretty dumb, but now for some reason I feel it's incredibly cute. :P

High Jump Kick in Japanese is とびひざげり (flying knee kick, you're right, but I took that into account when I translated) I'm the one who translated that sentence in this post. And I will admit that the the Japanese text doesn't strictly say something like "Mega Loppuny learns High Jump Kick" it just says that M-Loppuny's ability lets you hit Ghosts Types with High Jump Kick. And that text is right next to a picture of M-Loppuny going through an animation that I guess could be either of the Jump Kicks. Still seeing as how obvious a move pool addition it is and that the Japanese text decided to use that move over one of Lopuny's already extant Fighting Moves I think it's 99% safe to assume it's getting High jump kick. You can look at the image of the Japanese text and see the actually symbols for High Jump Kick in there if you don't trust me still. They are inside brackets 「like this」 in the sentence and the full word is broken up so that the first two characters とび fall on the first line and the rest ひざげり fall on the second line.

I guess what I'm getting at is. There's totally a chance corcro is trolling us and talking about a move M-Loppuny doesn't actually get. But they ARE talking about High Jump Kick so that's not where the confusion is coming from. Also Salamcne has a very similar sentence and set of images and they are talking about Salamance ability affecting how it uses すてみタックル (Double Edge) a move we all know it gets. I think that helps the Loppuny will be getting High Jump Kick argument.

Wtf are pikachu's costumes made up of? It wears those things to battles filled with flamethrowers, ice beams, sharp claws and explosions lol.
Also, I now feel like salamence's wings(if you can call those monstrosity wings) should have been flipped with the tips of the wings facing towards its tail. Just my opinion.
.
Is this it for this months coro coro? I read somewhere that there should be a 4th mega what with the page layout.

...you're asking about the durability of Pikachu's clothes...?

I doubt this is it for August. It kept coming out in July, even when it seemed to be dead.

It also confirms that with you change your Pikachu's cosplay for contests, it gets special moves. Pikachu Rock Star gets the move Meteor Mash, Pikachu Ph. D. knows Electric Terrain, Pikachu Pop Star knows Draining Kiss, Pikachu Belle knows Icicle Crash and Pikachu Libre knows Flying Press

--from Seribii

So pikachu can only do this in contests, right? Also is this all the information we got, or is there more?

It looks like we are able to use it in battle (I'm gonna take another look just to make sure I have my facts straight lol).

Yeah, it looks like it's outside in a normal battle sequence.

A lot of people are making posts about Aerilate/ Pixilate M-Salamnce. I was wondering where that idea was coming from. While I'm on my little translation kick I'll point out Salamance has text that specifically says とくせい:スカイスキン where とくせいmeans ability (as it does in M-Loppuny's sentence.) That text is in a little text block listing it's species name, type, weight and other attribute similar to that stuff I was trying to read on M-Metagross last month. Pixilate is フェアリースキン which I dont see in any of M-Salamance's text. スカイスキン is Aerilate. So I'm wondering why Pixilate is getting talked about on Salamance? (again you can see フェアリースキンlisted next to とくせい in Alteria's picture for reference on all this stuff)

Also after looking through the images I don't see any text blocks talking about the specific stat growths of each Mega. Which is probably just because the scans didn't include all the text around the images. But sadly I can't do any translating to confirm what is getting upgrades where... :/

as for Pikachu there are screenshots of it wearing the costumes and using the moves in real battles outside of contests. link screenshots
So here's my next question, now that we know Pikachu's new forms have Rotom like move affects do you think they might affect Pika's type or stats? My guess is no but it's not like they've strictly told us one way or the other...

Is mega salamence gonna replace zard x in competitive D:
I mean higher speed and probably stronger attack on flying type moves. It only lacks of burn immunity and of none 4x weaknesses.

It really depends on the move tutors, and on the stat distribution, if Mega Salamence might "replace" Zard X.

I think Mega Mence will be different enough to jus the a simple alternative to Zard X. Even then, if it DID outclass at an offensive role, Zard X still has the defensive capabilities with Wisp.
