Hm, I would've thought that there would be more 10-12 year olds, since I always thought that that was what Pokemon appealed to the most. Well, I guess this isn't exactly a family friendly site, and judging by other pokemon forums I've looked at (serebii), I can't say we miss them very much.

When you say "21 year old," I assume that you mean "Gary Coleman at 21 years old." I've got to say, you're short for your age, kid.

Anyway, I'm currently 53. I'm planning to do some grinding in Heartglen this weekend. I'm hoping to hit 60 by the end of the summer.

hey! i played [/i]before dp, so dont assume that 49.73% (49.2% atm) of us are beginners >.<
 
To everyone who is saying "I thought everyone here was older than this..."

Yeah, we used to be. Ever since D/P the demographic shift in this community has been very noticeable.
 
Yeah dm's right... and it's really the core of the community (IRC chat people) that are more in the 17-21 range. If you polled the chat you'll find a larger percentage for that age group.
 
Agreeing with Carl and DM. The core of Smogon is much older, but I mean when D/P was released a ton of kids joined (and a ton of kids are getting banned in droves for being too stupid to be apart of this community, I mean honestly) and therefore the age range shifted. So in summary: The people who should be giving Pokemon advice are older, the people here that should be taking said advice are younger.

I mean, people of all ages come here to learn about Pokemon but I don't really consider them apart of the "community"... if you want to be apart of the community, go survive in #smogon. The end.
 
I may be an old geezer, but I got a kick out of this following message I saw posted on another forum in reference to his loss to me in the 2nd round at the recent gamestop PBR tournament:

I didn't win, I made it to the second round and got PWNED by some 50 year old guy with a Electrivire and Gyrados. The first round battle I had was like a joke. The guy I battled had a Piplup, Stariavia, Torterra, and something else. Everyone was like "Spankums! Yayyyyyyyyy!".

Actually I am not that old, but I suppose the grey hairs make me look older already.
